2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Hi there,

And for those of you now wondering what FIENDISH materials I found to send to my trading card buddy after those wings and sequins . . . you need wait no longer - HERE is what I sent to her, I'm just too kind!!

OK, so what would you lot make with that? Any ideas? I'll post my trading card made using the above materials in the morning . . . .  mean or what!

I also sent this little "Dream a little dream" ATC with it.

Materials used:
  • Trading card blank
  • Stamped image (donated to me so source unknown)
  • Crafty Individuals sentiment stamped in memento tuxedo black direct on to ATC
  • Distress inks in Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge
  • Cream grosgrain ribbon coloured with Pro Marker "TULIP"
And here was my challenge set last time, I sent the duplicate materials to Pam and this is the ATC I made:

Materials used:
  • Trading card blank
  • Costco double sided paper (roughly ATC size)
  • Lilac self adhesive gems
  • Crafty Individuals sentiment and image stamped in memento tuxedo black on to white card
  • Purple fibres
  • Small piece of purple mirri card
Additionally I coloured my image using Pro Markers

Have a great evening and don't forget to have an idea in your head as to how you would use those materials!!!!! Sleep tight!

Afternoon and welcome to the start of another week

Another week eh? Where ARE they going? I find it hard to believe that tomorrow sees the start of February and hubby's birthday looming large - thank heavens I've made his card!

Anyway, my regular readers will know that I have a trading card buddy on the Isle of Skye and we exchange materials, from which I will make an ATC and send back to her (with my materials for her to make an ATC). When she receives my letter she will return her original along with the ATC she makes from my materials and materials for the next challenge and so it goes on. I hope you are with me so far but, if not, don't worry as there is no exam at the end of it!

Suffice it to say . . . here are the materials I was sent and, if I'm honest, I was a bit stumped with this one!!

Frankly, there was no way I could make an ATC using JUST those materials - so I had to add a few things . . . and, ultimately, came up with this - not perfect but ARTY!!!!

Additional materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Distress inks in Aged Paper, Tea Dye, Rusty Hinge
  • Metallic Rub ons in brass
  • Black card die cut using a Tim Holtz die
  • Glitzies (from Imagination Crafts) in crystal
  • Brown Marvy Le Plume pen (as I hadn't realised quite how opaque the silkies would be), grey, skin, yellow cream Marvy Le Plume pens to colour image
  • Crafty Individuals image stamped in memento tuxedo black on to white card and cut out
I hope you like it . . . now for some fiendish materials to send back to Pam!!!

How's your Monday coming along? It started off bitterly cold this morning (-2°) but has now warmed to a balmy 1°!!! - AND the sun has come out - YAY!

I'm off round to the post box shortly with birthday cards for some crafting buds and for my U.S. neighbour who's birthday is on the 8th - one of no less than FOUR birthdays I have cards for on the 8th!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your Monday and do stop by and leave me a comment ........ I love to read them!

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Evening all,

Well, after a bad days crafting at the purple palace yesterday I thought I'd try one of my own personal nemeses - a masculine card, and also let my imagination run riot a bit .... I sometimes accuse myself of being too pedestrian in my work and, whilst this is not exactly "out there" it's a bit different from my norm - something I'm trying to do a lot this weekend - sometimes it works ............................... and sometimes, not!!! How do YOU think it turned out?

Materials used:
  • Straw coloured C6 base card and matching envelope
  • Black card - one piece die cut using a Tim Holtz die and one masked using the "industrial" mask acquired at Westpoint with the silver Glitzies from Imagination Crafts
  • Piece of gold open weave fabric
  • Various bits of fibres
  • A distressed 3/8" eyelet  set with my crop-a-dile
  • Sunshine Designs image stamped three times (without re-inking) in memento tuxedo black ink on to white card and the edges distressed
  • Distress inks: Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Frayed Burlap, Rusty Hinge, Black Soot
  • Metallic rub ons in bronze and gold
Hubby's gone indoor flying this evening and there's "nothing on the telly"! (again) so I may do some more crafting, finish my Clive Cussler book or watch a movie - or maybe even all of the above - have a fab evening and do check in with my little bloglet again tomorrow to see if anything else went on at the table of purple craftiness!!!

Morning and welcome to Sunday morning

This should brighten up your morning!!! Over on Craft Mad & Loving It the Sunday themed challenge is "Bright and Buttons"!!! and this just sort of grew - it's nothing like it started out. In my head it was D.I. in shabby shutters with dots of Dusty Concorde (using yesterdays new stamp) and then this fab Sunday International cone flowers image in Memento Grape Jelly. Do you have any idea how that sooooooooooooo doesn't work?? Hmmm, back to the drawing board and needed to cover up mistake number one!!! And so you see the result below . . . which I hope fits the theme so much better, it sure is bright and there sure are buttons!

Materials used:
  • White DL "linen" textured card and envelope
  • Black card
  • White card
  • One lime and one purple button
  • 3" each of narrow lime and purple ribbon
  • Versacolor lime ink
  • Memento ink in grape jelly
  • Paper Mania sentiment
  • Sunday International coneflowers image
  • Glue gun
Thought I'd better get my finger out and make a card using the craft barn candy stash. However, once my bright and buttons card was done, I was plainly not having a good day as my sketchie card didn't turn out at all well. I sought a second opinion and that turned out the same as my own so I plan to have another go at that today too - but of course, you won't see that just yet! I know everyone has days when they don't like anything they do and I know I've done stuff I've hated and everyone else seems to like but I don't think yesterday was one of those days!! So, here's a clean simple-ish card with the new dies - I'm not expecting anyone to LOVE it but I do hope you don't HATE it either!!!

Materials used:
  • White "linen effect" DL card and envelope
  • Black card to die cut the cage
  • Mauve and lilac DCWV textured cardstock
  • Inkadinkado image stamped directly on to the base card using memento ink in Grape Jelly
  • Paper Artsy sentiment stamped directly on to the base card using memento ink in Grape Jelly
  • "Creatables" dies: bird and cage - from the craft barn

Nothing much planned here although hubby IS decorating the kitchen/utility room so, unless it's raining I guess that will continue - hurrah - the new kitchen WAS finished in April 2009!! It's not raining or snowing here (in fact it's minus 1°, but sunny!) so hubby's nipped off down the field this morning - very little keeps him from his hobby!, at least my own hobby is one where I can stay warm and dry!

Have a fab Sunday and do feel free to leave me a comment.

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Hi there, me again!

Some of you may recall that I mentioned that I had won the 400 followers candy from the Craft Barn . . . well, without further ado I e-mailed Isabelle with my address and bless her, she must have put it right in the post as it arrived whilst I was at West Point yesterday. It's a fab haul so thank you so much to Isabelle and the Craft Barn and here it is . .

Do I hear WOWS from any of you????

Can't wait to get cracking with some of that little lot - hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

In the meantime - it's quiet here in blogland so I'd best get off and do some crafting/housework/laundry/ all of the above!!! Happy Saturday everyone

It's Saturday!!!!!

Morning readers,

After all the excitement of my day out at Westpoint yesterday I was sitting at my PC (minding my own business so to speak) when my neighbour phoned with a minor plumbing emergency - she had water leaking out of the base of her radiator and was worried it might come through the ceiling in to her dining room if it were left  until the gas board could respond to her call out (this morning). Well, the technical department rushed in to action (that's my hubby!) and we both nipped over to have a look - it was fixed (temporarily) within minutes and a grateful neighbour poured a glass of red in gratitude, and another and then another . . . . needless to say, neither one of the three of us wanted any dinner and ours turned out to be two pieces of toast - ooops eh! I do love these impromptu gatherings though and wouldn't trade one missed dinner! Feeling fine this morning with no repercussions, other than being a bit on the hungry side!!!!

It's sketchie day over on craft bubble's Craft Mad & Loving It group and today is no exception, it's the turn of DEBS to be the Guest Design Team Member and to present her own lavish sketch - fab isn't it? Her theme was "Dressing Up" and below the sketch you will see my own take on her sketch - whaddya think??

Materials used
  • 5" x 5" square white card and matching envelope
  • A piece of 6" x 6" LOUD patterned paper which came free with an issue of Card Making and Papercraft
  • A piece of purple Coredinations (white core) textured card
  • A piece of lilac DCWV card
  • Crafters companion image stamped in memento tuxedo black on to white card
  • Distress Ink in Dusty Concord
  • Pro Markers  including the blender pen
  • Black/silver thread
  • Double sided sheet adhesive cut in to small arrow heads
  • Gilding flakes applied to the arrow heads
  • White "faux" pearls
  • Edging punch to make my card look like it had been ripped from a notebook

Have a great Saturday and a fab weekend peeps.

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Hi folks,

Sorry, been MIA today - been to the craft show at Westpoint, Exeter. I met up with my friend, Sue, at 09:00 (or as I like to call it these days "stupid o'clock" - so out of the habit of rising early!) and headed off to Exeter, arriving a smidge before 10:30 and joined the line to get in! We hadn't booked tickets in advance as we weren't 100% convinced we make it so we had to wait with all the others - did get chatting to a group of ladies behind us and one was wearing a fantabulous knitted scarf - saw the wool inside too but controlled the urge - the last thing I need is another scarf right now!! Tempting though . . . My usual plan of attack (since Sue's never been to one of these shows) is to belt round quickly looking for things I want and/or know the price of before going round again and shopping at the stalls I really want to . . .  Nothing on my shopping list so how on earth did I end up with this little lot???

AND we stopped for lunch and were away by 2:00 - doesn't take us long does it? Sue? She bought some ribbon! OOOPS!! Shared a table with two very nice ladies over lunch - mother and daughter, the mother had done a quick origami make and take, she was so funny - hello if you're reading this. Back round again and a nice chat with the lady from the SNAZZY stall, said hello to the ladies from Debbie Moore and dropped your name, Karen - no discount!!! BUM Bought a Dark Room Door stamp but then couldn't find an acrylic block big enough - will have to wait till the craftathon!!!

Hubby was painting the kitchen ceiling when Sue and I got home - made him a cuppa and left him to get on with it!!!! Sue and I adjourned to talk about our day - she went home with my now redundant Quickutz Revolution - so she caught up with me on the spending . . . NEARLY!

Anyway, off to my neighbours now and there will probably be a glass imbibed so . . . CHEERS! Have a fantastic Friday everyone

TGIF people!

Morning and welcome to my blog . . . . the Purplicious princess is away from her desk today - at the craft show in Westpoint, Exeter but will hope to catch up with you all this evening . . . have a fab Friday and a GREAT WEEKEND

Hi there,
Welcome to my latest follower Alexeya (aka Nicola) - nice to see you and welcome to blogland! ENJOY!!
Over on Craftbubble's Craft Mad & Loving It there's a new Wednesday evening challenge - the Christmas Recipe Club, to be set fortnightly, to help us all get a jump on our Christmas cards! It's a recipe for a Christmas card and there are three "chefs" to set the challenges in turn: Rosie, Clare and myself. Rosie kicked it all off around 8:00 pm with her opening salvo - a recipe for "Angel Delight"!!!! Tempted? Then you need to produce a Christmas card featuring the following: something blue, some angels wings, a sprinkle of glitter and flowers - see what you can come up with!

Materials used:
  • Dark blue C6 card and matching envelope
  • Silver mirri card
  • Blue spot paper from a DCWV Winter paper stack
  • Stix2 narrow double sided tape
  • Navy ultrafine glitter from the Art Institute
  • Two punched retro flowers in blue
  • Image provided me in an image swap - my thanks to the generous donor
  • Blade Rubber sentiment stamped in memento tuxedo black

Welcome to hump day Wednesday - sure comes round fast

Hi folks,

Wednesday again and lots more challenges to enter . . . but before I could start crafting there were a few things I needed to do. One was to make the soup I promised to make yesterday (oops!) and the other was to go and visit my pal, Dorothy, who I've not seen since before Christmas. SO, I got an earlyish start as hubby was off to Gloucester on the 09:52 train - and the soup was made by 10:30 leaving me plenty of time to go see Dorothy. Thankfully, she was well and pleased to see me . . . so we chatted and I made us coffee. Home in time to vouch for the fact that my squash and orange pepper soup is absolutely "souper"!!! The combination gives it a very smooth and slightly sweet taste - mmmmmmmoreish!

Over on I Love Pro Markers it's time for challenge #50 entitled "Lavender and Lace" and given my love of purple it just had to be done!!!

Materials used:
  • Light purple C5 card with matching envelope
  • Donated Art deco image stamped (thank you so much Louise Whitby)
  • Die cut mirri card in silver
  • Double sided sheet adhesive
  • Piece of lace offcut
  • Glitter in pinky purple and lavender
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle Art Deco sentiment stamped directly on to purple card using memento tuxedo black
  • Pro Markers to colour and Atyou Spica glitter pens to highlight
Here's a close up of the "faux" lace technique using two colours of glitter
And now, since it's What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday but there's nothing on my desk I thought I would show you the contents of my rather overstuffed "People and accessories" drawer of stamps - be afraid ..... be VERY afraid!!! If you think this drawer looks over full, you should see the critters drawer!

Hope you've all had a stonking Wednesday and managed to stay dry as it's been fairly wet today! And predicted to be brrrrrrrr cold this evening - so don't forget your fleecy P.J.'s!!!

2nd post for Tuesday - please scroll down for the earlier post

Hi there
Me again, busy day's crafting for me with another of the simple to achieve radiant pearls cards and a challenge card - well - the weather IS so rubbish outside that I decided against going out today in favor of tomorrow as hubby has a hair cut scheduled too!
I hope your day's going well too.

Materials used:
  • White DL linen effect card and matching envelope
  • Radiant pearls paints in: Sienna, Mayan Gold and Autumn Leaf, roughly brushed on to card.
  • Paper Artsy image and Paper Mania sentiment stamped in memento tuxedo black
  • Kaisercraft chocolate "faux" pearls
I also set a challenge over on the Craftymess forum (see it here) with the twist of "Distressing" so thought I'd best get a wiggle on and produce a project for it and decided to use blue as my colour theme.

Materials used:
  • Blue C6 card and matching envelope
  • Lighter blue card cut in to panels and the edges distressed using a Tim Holtz distressing tool
  • Darker blue ribbed card panel cut in to scalloped circle
  • Unknown manufacturers sentiment and image stamped on to white card using memento tuxedo black and D.I. in Faded Jeans
  • Twine
  • 2 navy brads
  • 2 navy gromlets supplied with and set with the crop-a-dile big bite

Hi there Tuesday again!

How's it going peeps? It's a little quiet in blogland this week - or is it just me?

I recently spotted a rather fab looking card over on simplicity (see it here) and was most taken with the colours and decided to have a go at recreating something "along those lines".

Materials used:
  • White DL card and matching envelope
  • Four lilac "faux" gemstones
  • Stampscapes image stamped in memento tuxedo black
  • Crafty Individuals sentiment stamped as above
  • Radiant Pearls paints in: Oyster Shell, Sugar Plum and Plum Crazy
I've also set a sketch challenge over on the Craftymess forum (see it here) and this sketch has the twist of "DISTRESSING" - if you fancy a go why not head over . . . . love to see you.

Hope your Tuesday is a good one, however you plan to spend it, and do drop by to see if there's another post later!

Monday, 24 January 2011

Afternoon and here we are at Monday again

How's your day working out for you?

Mine started off dull, grey, chilly AND windy - not a great combination. It's warmed up now but still grey - sun's made no attempt whatsoever - I give it an F- for effort!!

Needed to make a quick card this morning and get it in the post - so keen was I that I clean forgot to photograph it!! DOH! Still, it's on its way and, as the recipient IS a  reader of my blog maybe that's just as well!

Aunt and Uncle came over this morning (regular readers will remember the Cycling Shorts foray - it's THAT Aunt and Uncle!). Bless their hearts they even came armed with their own cake! Didn't stay long enough to eat it all though so we get to do that over the next day or so!

Well my brother and his family should be back from Thailand imminently. Strangely enough hubby and I were only debating the actual date of their return today when who should we bump in to at Costco but Ann's (SIL) brother! Spooky - he couldn't remember what day this week they're due home either! They flew out on December 31st LAST YEAR - boy that makes it sound like they've been away for such a long time - doesn't it?! They were heading to a Thai wedding - lucky things. The postcard seems to indicate that they've been having a fabulous time too: they've visited exotic palaces, ridden elephants and stroked tigers (!) and apparently have the photos to prove it!! All I've ever managed was to stroke a Florida leopard (they're pretty cute too!).

Anyhoo, no crafting goodies to tempt me at Costco this afternoon but we still managed to spend an arm and a leg - where does it go? Might have something to do with the half cases of wine and the boxes of beer!!! Keeps us stocked up a while though now!

It's my friend Andrea's birthday today so Happy Birthday Andrea and crafting pal, Karen, started a new job today so let's hope that went really well too.

I've now had the chance to craft . . . . I am loving white space cards at the moment - my new favourite!!! How fickle am I  - until recently the post it method was my "new favourite" and I wonder what my next "new favourite" will be!!!

Materials used:
  • White DL card and envelope
  • Hero Arts Dog image stamped in memento tuxedo black
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiment stamped in memento grape jelly
  • Four lilac faux gemstones
  • Doggy print check ribbon from the wonderful Michaels Arts and Craft stores.

Enjoy the rest of your day peeps and do feel free to leave me a comment - I didn't get ANY post today so would love to hear from you!

Sunday themed challenge #28

Morning everyone and welcome to a nice relaxing Sunday morning.

I'm off to my pals for coffee in a bit - she's been away at her mum's all week so we've some catching up to do.

Was it me yesterday or was there precious little on the TV? Sat down to watch an episode of NCIS only to discover we'd seen it before (once or twice!) so retired to bed with a book!

Anyway, since my debut as temporary Design Team Member yesterday it falls to me to set the Sunday challenge for the week too. These themed challenges are always set on a Sunday and can really be about anything from a recipe to a simple (or complicated) theme. Since it's my first themed challenge I thought I would be gentle with my fellow crafters and came up with "Monkeying around"!!!! Interpret how you wish but . . . I just had to use the fab Changito stamps recently acquired in Florida - I made the Orange and white one first but then decided to have another go with the lovely "Drive me Happy" Changito too. And before any eagle eyed readers point out my spelling mistake . . . Changito's registration number is: M0(zero) NKY

Materials used:
  • Red C6 card and matching envelope
  • Double sided tape
  • Gilding flakes
  • Driving Changito image and matching sentiment stamped in memento tuxedo black on to white card
  • Pro Markers and Atyou Spica glitter pens to colour image
  • Gold mirri card circle
  • Faux gemstones to accent

Materials used:
  • QVC card and envelope (covered with white card to disguise the DISGUSTING design on the original!)
  • Post It notes to mask
  • Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Tea Dye to colour Changito and coconuts!
  • Changito jungle images and sentiments

Have a wonderful Sunday and feel free to stop by and tell me your plans for the day.

Morning and welcome to sketchie day!

Happy Saturday peeps,

Hope your credit cards aren't lying around somewhere, panting, following yesterdays massive CRAFT DAY on QVC. I saw a few things I would like, from Imagination crafts and I very nearly ordered some 6" square plain and scalloped white cards but ........ it's the P&P that puts me off! It has to be said that I have browsed the wonderful Imagination website on more than one occasion and am STILL very tempted . . . . see it here

And, considering I seldom win much, by a very spooky coincidens I have won the blog candy over at the Craft Barn - which was offered when the blog reached 400 followers - thanks guys, so much. It's a mystery prize but apparently includes some Marianne stencils - woo hoo indeed, will post a piccie when  it arrives

Anyhoo, with my pal Lauren having a little break from Craftbubble I am keeping her seat warm until her return and today would be her turn to present the sketchie to the other members of the Craft Mad & Loving It group . . . so now it has fallen to me to do so in her place. I chose to tease my fellow crafters with the twist of "ANIMALS!"

So, without further ado here is my sketch and also the card I made from it. If you want to see the rest of the Design Teams fabulous take on my sketch then do pop over to Craftbubble here and check it out - both Karen and Rosie have done a fabulous job with my sketch - thanks ladies.

And my card, using this sketch

Materials used:
  • White card and matching envelope
  • Animal print card by DCWV
  • Brown card - supplier unknown
  • Gold and bronze card from the DCWV Shimmer metallics stack
  • Papermania sentiment stamped on to white card
  • Penny Black image stamped on to white card using memento tuxedo black ink
  • Pro Markers
  • Atyou Spica glitter pens
  • Small brown and orange brads
  • Retro punch in medium and small
Hope you'll all have a fabulous weekend, however you are planning to spend it.

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

No sign of Aunt and Uncle yet - but they did only say they MIGHT come today or they might come Monday.

Warmest Congratulations to my crafting pal KAREN who has today been for her first interview in 19 years and got the job - she starts on MONDAY - YAY KAREN!!!! AND (jammy girl) she's working for Debbi Moore so getting paid to do a job she loves already - how cool is that?

I've been watching QVC's craft day but haven't bought anything . . . . yet - guess there probably isn't much I need right now particularly given the package which arrived this very morning.

As usual I tend to craft along with QVC on in the background and today has been no different. I wanted to enter the OLW (One Layer Wednesday) sentiments challenge over on the Simplicity blog here, so took my cream DL card and got cracking. Oh yes, forgot to mention that you have to use more than one sentiment and NO IMAGES!! trickier than it sounds! I used Brilliance Pearlescent Beige on my Crafty Individuals sentiment and it doesn't show up brilliantly (sorry, pun intended!!!) but (trust me) it's on the left of the brown pearls . . .

Materials used:
  • Cream linen DL card and matching envelope
  • Inkadinkado sentiment stamp
  • Crafty Individuals sentiment (Happiness is time spent with a friend)
  • Brilliance inks in Beige and Cocoa
  • Brown organza ribbon
  • Brown Kaisercraft faux pearls

TGIF people!

Morning everyone,

Hope you are all having a great Friday, so far, and have BIG plans for the weekend. No?, me either!!!

Some of you good people may remember me mentioning that I had been selected as "Subscriber of the Month" for February in Card Making and Paper Craft. There is a mystery prize for this honour AND you get photos of some of your cards published. Last time I was waiting for something to arrive from Origin it took over a month so, imagine my surprise when the doorbell rang this morning and there was the postie, with my mystery giftie. I ripped open the packaging and . . .  here is the photo of what I received - THANK YOU Origin.

No crafting yet - but it's still early in the day! I am, however, expecting visitors at some point today so it may be a bit hit and miss, though I do still WANT to make my card for One Layer Wednesday - which is sentiments this week.

Not so much a Friday Funny as something completely RIDICULOUS! My good friends, Liz and Graeme, gave me a page per day calendar for Christmas. I'm a bit obsessed with shoes so, naturally, they gave me a shoe calendar. Some of the shoes are GORGEOUS, some weird and this one - which is just RIDICULOUS!

HAVE a GREAT Friday peeps

Thursday - it's ALMOST the weekend!!

Hi folks,

How's Thursday treating you?

Hi and WELCOME to new follower HAYLEY.

I've had a funny old day again..... not like yesterday with a power cut but a funny old day nonetheless. I was meeting fellow crafter Lilian at our local Hobbycraft this morning and awoke to a frosty whiteout!! GREAT! Skates on and got ready  in record time and went out to start my car - that would be a resounding NOOOOOOOOO then! My car (Ugly, to it's friends!) was not at all interested in this starting lark and sat there sulking! - until hubby threatened it with jump leads - it soon changed its mind and started then! HOWEVER, much ice on the INSIDE to defrost and I set about clearing the frost off the outside, breaking one ice scraper in the process. I have two and they are both pretty old - or should I say I HAD two! Eventually I was on my merry way and headed first to M&S as I couldn't put off buying new underwear any longer - I have been promising myself a treat. Of course I NOW remember why I keep putting it off - I HATE the lingerie department of M&S and am reminded of a Christmas edition of Father Ted when the priests couldn't find their way out! I tried on what "used" to be my size only to be sadly disappointed - bra's ARE supposed to latch aren't they? well these DIDN'T so it was on to plan B and back with the next batch. Surprisingly, they all fitted sufficiently and I belted off to the register quick before I changed my mind. The lovely ladies from the fitting room pressed a £5 discount voucher in to my hand - for which I was extremely grateful and I dashed back to the car clutching my purchases before heading off to Hobbycraft to meet Lilian.

What a blooming disappointment that was? Even more than breaking my ice scraper and discovering my boobs are not what they used to be (in fact, so much more!!!!). If I didn't know better I would say they are closing down, there was very little stock upstairs in card making and rubber stamping. In fact, duplicate stamps were faced across to cover up the huge gaps in the display! Needless to say Lilian and I left there in disgust and headed next door to Tescos, where we availed ourselves of two nice lattes in the Costa cafe contained within. I also nipped across to Halfords and am now the owner of two shiny new (GT go faster) ice scrapers too - at the huge expense of £2.98!!! My total spend in Hobbycraft (some silicon glue) was only £3.29 - not up to my usual standard eh?!?!

Back home for lunch and then off again to Matalan where I snagged a nice casual top for my holidays - for £10 and then back home via a friends for a quick cuppa.

SO, basically no time for crafting till 4pm . . .

What you see below is an entry for the I Love Pro Markers "Keep It Sweet and Simple" challenge.

Materials used:
  • QVC card blank (with a disgusting grey design on the front) and envelope
  • Turquoise hand made paper (to cover the ghastly grey design on the card)
  • Some pretty double sided pearl paper (can't remember the manufacturer)
  • Anitas sentiment stamped on white card (I know - it's a CHRISTMAS stamp but hey - it works!)
  • Anya stamp (by The Greeting Farm) donated to me by a stamping compadre and stamped on to a scalloped oval
  • Pro Markers (obligatory for this challenge)
  • Martha Stewart edging punch from a PATP set
  • Silver "pearls" to accent
Hope you are having a fab Thursday peeps - see y'all tomorrow!

Morning - here it is hump day Wednesday . . . again!

Morning and how is your Wednesday starting off?
Ours got off to a rubbish start but I'm getting ahead of myself . . . Last evening hubby cooked a fajitas. Now he's a very GOOD cook but last night it just didn't taste right and well, it was really rather salty. No, let's get honest - it was VERY VERY VERY salty!!! I suspect the measurements used may have been biggie sized, by accident - he's not all that great with spoon sizes!!
Anyhoo, it gets to bed time and I pour us both a glass of water . . . .  mine's gone before I get in to bed so I go back down and get another. Long story short I made four more of these trips to get water and this morning feel as though I was then on rails to the bathroom - for obvious reasons (who fully wakes up for bathroom breaks - its an instinct isn't it?)!!! Hmm - I won't go in to details as to how this fajitas affected my hubby - it's too early in the morning for that! (as I type this it is anyway, though it won't get posted for a bit).
It's WOYWDW over on Craftbubble and, frankly, there's not a lot on my workdesk at the moment although I do plan to attack the new ILPM challenge which is to KEEP IT SWEET AND SIMPLE and to, obviously, colour with pro markers! I STILL have a scrap layout to do but haven't really been anywhere to take any photos since Kylie set the challenge!!! Maybe later!

There has been quite an intermission since I started this post in draft form ..... due entirely to a power cut, there I was, with one leg literally in the shower cubicle and the power went off!!! No power = no shower!!! Hmmm, no cuppa, no nothing!

Gave me chance to make a card though . . . this one is an entry for the ABC of Christmas challenge which this week is B ..... for black and white. Also going to be entering this in for challenge #64 "one Layer Wonder over on the little red wagon blog here. I'm enjoying these challenges (albeit this IS only the second) and the result should be an A-Z of 25 cards come December! I am definitely a big fan of the clean and simple at the mo, with white space too and this one just sort of lent itself to it - hope you like it

Materials used:
  • A smooth white card blank and matching envelope
  • Smooth white card, cut to fractionally smaller than the card blank
  • Penny Black image and sentiment
  • Memento ink - tuxedo black
  • Brilliance ink - lightning black
  • Fiskars corner rounding punch
Here's how the whole card looks like, with its envelope and insert

Hope you are enjoying your Wednesday!
