Hi there, me again - just stopped by to put my sketchie challenge card on here and to say that I hope the weather is STILL being kind to you. I've had a message from one pal this morning to say that they had planned a BBQ today but that it's a bit too windy.

  • Copic markers used to colour image

  • Sentiment (unknown manufacturer) inked in memento tuxedo black on white card, coloured with pastel pink pro marker and cut out before running through my Xyron sticker maker

Hope you like it - if you want to see the sketch I used then it's on my previous post so just scroll down! I've also posted it over on Craft Mad & Loving It.

Have a great weekend whatever you have planned.

Hello and welcome to the weekend

Hi there and welcome to the weekend.

Did you all watch the Royal Wedding? I hadn't planned too but we turned on BBC America in time for the balcony scene and THE KISSES and then it all started again so we left it on with the intention of seeing THE FROCK, without realising how many hours of TV would be involved before the opportunity arose but, heck, I actually found myself enjoying it!!, so am glad I did.

We had also planned to head across to the space coast to watch the launch of the last but one ever space shuttle but guess what? It got cancelled with just minutes to go so . . . how glad are we that we didn't make the trek and wrestle our way in to a busy parking space and stand in the baking heat for hours just to realise it didn't launch! Next opportunity is Monday so we MAY decide to have another go - after all it IS the last but one ever shuttle launch.

How's your Saturday going? It really does feel odd being five hours behind here but all that will change on Thursday when we land back at Gatwick at stupid O'Clock and reality kicks in!

Over on the Simply Less Is More blog there is a new challenge, set today, which is number 13 -  "THANK YOU or CONGRATULATIONS" and there are already a dozen or more lovely entries, why not pop over and check them out here. In the meantime, here's my own Congratulations card ......

Materials used:
  • White C6 card and envelope
  • Stampendous image inked in Memento lilac posies on to a white panel of Bristol board with corners rounded
  • Panel of pewter DCWV metallics card, again, with rounded corners
  • Panel of white card, corners rounded and coloured using Memento sweet plum
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Memento lilac posies directly on to card blank
  • Line of faux pearls (from Recollections) to underline sentiment
And over on Craft Mad & Loving It there is a new sketch today too ..... set by the lovely Karen, welcome back. Her theme is "WHAT'S COOKING"?

I'm off for a rummage through my stash, to see what I can come up with for the above challenge so do pop back later to see what I came up with....... have a lovely Saturday, I hope the weather is nice where you are.

Royal wedding day

Have you been watching it? I checked out the balcony scene and saw "the kiss" (or should I say kisses!) and noticed the comment Catherine (newly created Duchess of Cambridge) made as she appeared "OH WOW" which was a nice touch.

Other than that, no plans for the Royal day as we're still here in Florida and aren't aware of much going on here although my pal and neighbour, Sally, is off to one of the Disney hotels where there's a HUGE TV and a bit of a party thing going on all day.

If you are hosting or attending a Royal related "thing" today then I hope it goes well and I hope you enjoy it.

Back to the crafting . . . .

After my shopping trip with Sally yesterday I spent some of the evening crafting whilst watching the TV - BBC America was already counting down to the wedding with continuous shows on the Royal couple! Anyway, I managed a few trading cards and thought I would share them with you today - I hope you like them.

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Post it notes to mask off a random shape
  • Distress Inks in Dusty Concord, Faded jeans, Fired Brick
  • Stampendous image inked in Memento Grape Jelly
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Distress inks in Weathered Wood and Faded Jeans
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle images inked in Brilliance blue and purple
  • Crystal stickles to highlight
Today's Friday Funny comes, once again, from Pat - thanks once more - and is from the series entitled "MEN CAN FIX ANYTHING" - check out what they fixed on this particular window sill!!!

Have a great day peeps, I hope you will leave me a comment if you stop by, and let me know how you are spending the day .......

2nd post of the day, please scroll down to read my earlier post

Hey there,

Back from my little shopping jolly with Sally, we went to the mall at millenia and hit IKEA - not that our total spend exceeded $20 in there! although we do both enjoy wandering about there. Lunch was at the cheesecake factory and we had planned to share a slice of cheesecake but in the end simply didn't have room (for shame)!!

Super yummy cheesecakes - what a lot to choose from?

The Cheesecake Factory at the mall at Millenia, Orlando

Sally and I at lunch - of course you'll have to take my word for it that I was there!
Managed a little crafting once I got home again. I had bought some canvas ATC blanks recently and a set of Tim Holtz stamps at Michaels with YET another 40% discount voucher!

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Distress Inks in Dusty Concord, Fired Brick, Faded Jeans and Black Soot
  • Tim Holtz clock face inked using memento London Fog
  • All other stamps are by TPC studio and were inked in either london fog or tuxedo black

Hope you're enjoying your Thursday - it's 33c here right now and I've come in from the pool deck to cool down and get a glass of something chilled - like squash! Hubby's still at the R/C model show and I SOOOO hope he is wearing his hat and hasn't got burnt or worse but he would NOT take or wear sunscreen!!!!

Hi there

A big welcome to Angie Kay and Creative Crafts, two new followers, hope to see more of you over time.

Yesterday we went out to dinner with neighbours Len and Koreen, our chosen venue was Smokey Bones which is a sort of BBQ restaurant. My choice of combo dinner was the pulled pork and roast brisket and very tasty it was too. Put it this way, there were no leftovers but no room for dessert either!

Today sees me off shopping with my pal and neighbour, Sally, whilst hubby is away to Lakeland to Linder airfield to a show - so we're both happy. We'll both do lunch whilst we're out so dinner will be pasta at home this evening, just as well after last night!

As for the weather, it's already 24c here and not yet 07:30 as I write this so it looks like another warm one!! I just hope we can find somewhere cool to shop! Most of the newer malls seem to be outdoor malls ..... not that Sally and I have actually formulated a plan for today but the temperature may be a deciding factor!

Since I was reading my book out on the pool deck and managed to finish it yesterday, sadly, no photos of any crafting today but do check back later and see if I managed to find anything interesting to photograph for you . . .

In the meantime, have a fabulous Thursday - only one more sleep till the Royal wedding - will you be watching or avoiding?

What's On Your Work Desk Wednesdsay . . . . and other stuff!!!

Hi there peeps,

Lovely here again/still - but then it's no more than one might expect when on vacation in Florida - after all, it IS known as the sunshine state!!!!

A little light crafting is good for the soul . . . .  and five weeks without crafting very BAD so I craft whilst I'm away - some of you may wonder how but if you look back at recent posts you will quickly realise that I have stash here and I buy whilst I'm here too!!! My lovely neighbours loan us (or rather, me!) their table whilst we are here too - which makes it more sociable. I used to craft in a spare bedroom but had to use the dresser so this was less than ideal - now I can craft, chat and watch TV all at the same time. HOW PERFECT IS THIS? However, my time here is nearly up and it is almost time to pack my supplies up and take them next door along with the table of craftiness - till next time!

Anyway, that was a kind of roundabout way of saying my husband asked me if I wanted to "nip in to Michael's" (hmm, did I or didn't I?) so my 40% discount voucher and I headed off in to Michael's whilst hubby headed to Best Buy . . . needless to say, I'm SURE I had more fun than he did and I came out with this lovely agapanthus wood mounted stamp from Stampendous - and I said I wouldn't buy any more wood mounted stamps because of the space they take up but hey ........ so, I simply couldn't wait to get it inky so, whilst hubby replaced the tap in the guest bathroom I set to work on the card below ........ (again with the more fun than him!!!).

Materials used:
  • White C6 card and envelope
  • Stampendous image inked in Memento rosebud and panel then rounded and edged with rosebud also
  • Highlighted with crystal stickles
  • Black panel very slightly larger than image panel and corners rounded
  • Bristol board panel slightly larger again, corners rounded and then outer 1/2" coloured using Memento rosebud to co-ordinate with image
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento london fog
I hope you like my card - now I COULD enter this over on the Simply Less Is More blog where the current challenge is "OFF CENTRE" but I've already entered two creations and it sounds a bit greedy!!

It's also WOYWDW (What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday) and I've taken a photo as this will be my last WOYWDW whilst in Florida - next week it will all be packed away and . . . . to that end, we visited IKEA yesterday and what you see on my work desk is lots of little storage boxes. I bought 17 (yes, seventeen) storage boxes for $3.99 + tax (that's less than three GBP!!!!) and spent much of last evening "moving in" ready to move it all out with less trauma than usual! Previously all that "stuff" was in bags, packets, carrier bags etc and made life really complicated. Anyway, without further ado ...... you can see what I'm talking about.

Of course, the really little ones may end up being used in the kitchen rather than for crafting purposes but hey . . . . for less than 3gbp it's not like I care if I throw them away!!!

Happy Wednesday peeps, however you spend it, I hope you enjoy it! I intend to as we shall be dining out with neighbours this evening, I think it's the turn of Smokey Bones!!

WOT? Tuesday? Again!!!!

Hi there,

Hi to my first male follower, Tony Dillon - hope you and Heather are well.

Can scarcely believe where the time goes - what happened to the last month? It seems impossible that this time next week we will be packing up to go home to the U.K.!!! I KNOW I've been here a while as my tan has already started to peel!!! Still, I could do it all again in the next week!

Anyway, yesterday was a slobbing about by the pool kind of day with forays back indoors to cool down and craft in Air Conditioned splendour. We had just decided to go out so I dashed next door to return Sally's dishes (she sent us home with leftovers - mmmmmm) and down came the rain! It rained real hard for a short while so I stayed put and chatted to Sally. Once it stopped I legged it back home, secure in the knowledge that the chair cushions (left on the chairs outside) would be soaked OR Steve would be, having dashed outside to get them in!!! Anyway, we waited for it to brighten up a little and then  headed out - domestic chores like going to Lowe's (like B&Q) for a new tap fitting and Michael's for more stash (Like I NEED more stash - but the 40% voucher was burning a hole in my pocket!!!). It rained quite a bit whilst we were out but we managed to avoid getting wet - how lucky was that? We decided to return to Applebees for our dinner and I had the slow roasted beef sandwich which was super yummy - it's been a very long time since we've had a bad meal here in Florida too though we've yet to find a decent Indian restaurant! Wonder why that is.

Nothing much on the TV, despite having 300 channels, so Steve ended up watching baseball in the bedroom whilst I "treated" myself to "Enchanted" in the lounge and crafted away whilst Amy Adams and "Dr McDreamy" did their thing! Actually, I quite enjoyed it - ooops! So, here are the results of my labours and to those of you who recognise the flower . . . I had two and liked my challenge entry so thought I would use the other one too!

Materials used:
  • White C6 card and envelope
  • Flower by Petaloo with Tsukineko Shimmer spritzed over
  • Gemstone brad through the centre of the flower
  • Red polka dot satin ribbon
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento london fog
This one may have been inspired by my choice of movie!!!

Materials used:
  • ATC blank edged at one end using Brilliance gold
  • Black and green floral panels edged with Martha Stewart zig zag punch
  • White gel pen to draw the border
  • Recollections image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to Bristol board and cut out
  • Copics to colour image
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Brilliance copper and then Perfect Pearls brushed over, to make it really stand out
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

Materials used:
  • Cream C6 card and envelope
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in Memento london fog
  • Clearly Wordsworth frame inked in Memento angel pink
  • Clearly Wordsworth flower in vase inked in Memento Rosebud and coloured using Marvy le Plume II markers with a glitter "raindrop" added to the centre
And, finally, my challenge card for the Craft Mad & Loving It themed challenge which, this week, is chocolate sentiments . . .  I didn't have anything ideally suited to this challenge so went with a chocolate cupcake - I'm hoping Clare will forgive me!

Materials used:
  • Cream C6 card and envelope
  • 5" x 3.5" panel of DCWV metallics card in pewter and edged using a Martha Stewart PATP set
  • Unknown Cupcake image inked three times in Memento tuxedo black on to DCWV polka dot, rock star and embossed polka dot card and cut out and pieced together to form a super yummy chocolate cupcake!
  • Crystal stickles to highlight the "chocolate icing"
  • Martha Stewart glue pen and yellow glitter to highlight the yellow flower
  • Unknown sentiment (came as a pair with the cupcake) inked in Memento cocoa and rosebud and cut out.
  • Lime ribbed ribbon cut in to a "V" and attached behind the sentiment

Hope you like them. Have a wondrous Tuesday peeps and,  if you had to go back to work today then I hope your day is going well.

Monday, 25 April 2011

Hi there, Monday morning and all's well!

Well almost all's well anyway, but more of that in a moment.

First off, I'd like to welcome new follower, Lisa Mason, hope you'll stop by from time to time and maybe leave me a comment - I do love to read comments!

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Sunday, whatever you ended up doing. We went to the home of our neighbours, Sally and Roger, to join them for their family Easter. Unfortunately, Roger's brother was unable to join us as he's currently in hospital. We've known Sally and Roger for 17 years now and have met Roger's brother on many, many occasions so, naturally, we wish him well and today I set about making him a get well card. Back to the Easter Sunday celebrations. We had thought it was a BBQ but it turned out to be a sit down dinner with baked ham, creamed potatoes, peas, sweetcorn - the whole nine yards - FABULOUS. Everyone seemed to have contributed something but they must have known about my cooking as we were only asked to provide the beer! There was a house full of us and three dogs, how no-one fell in the pool is a mystery to me but no-one did, though Brianna did venture in but, as she was in a swimsuit it really doesn't count! The rest of us were content to sit round the edge with our feet in the pool to cool us down! We had a great time and, although I suspect Sally doesn't check my blog but . . . . . THANK YOU Sally and Roger for your hospitality and I hope Cliff is soon feeling much better.

Of course there was, as there always seems to be, too much food so we came away with a magnificent amount of baked ham and some super yummy desserts too - that'll be at least a round of sandwiches and a hot meal, with dessert then!

Anyway, we've woken today without a hangover (thank heavens) and with no real plans for the day which has dawned hot and sunny - no more that you might expect here in the sunshine state! Hubby's reading the paper and I thought I would set to making a get well card for Cliff.

Materials used:
  • White C6 card and envelope
  • Silk Flower by Petaloo
  • Martha Stewart punch used to create the Black "button" and threaded with spotty white ribbon
  • Clearly Wordsworth sentiment inked in Memento London Fog

I hope you like it, please feel free to leave me a comment. It's an "Off Centre" creation and I aim to make it my second submission over on Simply Less Is More where there are already well over 100 entries since the challenge was posted on Saturday morning. Not checked it out yet? Then do pop along using this link here and have a look.

Have a wonderful Monday and enjoy the sunshine - how lovely to have a warm and sunny Bank Holiday in the U.K. - so not what we're really used to, eh?!?!?

Sunday, 24 April 2011

Hi there,

Welcome to a lazy Easter Sunday. Don't know what you lot have planned but we're off next door in a couple of hours - to a BBQ. Sally and Roger have invited us to share their family Easter celebrations, now isn't that kind of them? We're in charge of the beer and will be toting it round in our large cooler full of ice! Yee Haa.

Sunday mornings normally mean a themed challenge over on the craftbubble group Craft Mad & Loving It but CB appears to be hungover this weekend and no-one seems to be able to access it ...... again. This weeks challenge is set by Guest Design Team Member, Clare and she has kindly posted her theme on her own blog. This week she has chosen, in honour of all those Easter Eggs . . . . CHOCOLATE SENTIMENTS. With CB down you can post your entries (which needn't be a card) on your own blog and then post a link to it on Clare's blog here. ENJOY

I managed a little crafting yesterday, perhaps a mistake as the A/C was blasting away above my head and I've woken this morning with stiff shoulders - must have been the draught! Hmm, two ibuprofen and I'm sure I'll be fine later. I was beavering away whilst watching the Doctor Who-fest yesterday here in Florida, on BBC America. It was on all day, culminating in the premiere of the new series only a few hours later than you lot could have seen it in the U.K. Anyone else watch the new one? What did you think? They'd been telling us it was going to be super scary so I must admit to being a tad disappointed when these scary new monsters appeared - can only assume they will get scarier as the show developes - after all, who knew that monsters looking like they were made from egg boxes could end up being the ultimate scare?!?!!?

I mounted this one on a layer of black as my other one didn't really show up so well!
Materials used:
  • ATC blank coloured using memento Lulu lavender
  • Inkadinkado flourish inked using memento Lilac Posies
  • Recollections image inked in memento tuxedo black on to Bristol board and cut out, mounted on to black and cut out again
  • Copic markers used to colour image
  • Hero Arts image inked in memento Grape Jelly
  • Sakura Stardust clear glitter pen to highlight
See what I mean?
Materials used:
  • ATC Blank coloured using memento Plum
  • Inkadinkado image inked using the same plum
  • Tsukineko frost shimmer sprayed over ATC before adding the sentiment and image
  • Hero Arts sentiment inked in memento Tuxedo Black directly on to the ATC
  • Recollections image inked in memento Grape jelly
  • Copic markers used to colour image
  • Faux crystal gemstones to finish

Now, I ask you . . .  does this LOOK comfortable????? I saw this little chap, clinging on, as I headed to the drive to pick up the local free paper before the sprinklers destroyed it, the paper that is, not the gecko!

A brown anole (gecko) spotted perched on our sprinklers this morning!
Happy Easter Sunday to you all, however you have plans to spend it.

Morning and welcome to the weekend dear readers

Hi there,

Welcome to Saturday on this fine Easter weekend - how's it shaping up for you? Well, I hope. It's looking fab here in sunny Florida with temperatures set to exceed 90f/32c!! YIKES, where's my sunscreen?

Saturdays are sketchie day over on Craft Mad & Loving It and today's sketch has been designed and set by Clare, in her position as Guest Design Team Member. Her added twist this week is "SHOW YOUR METAL" . . .  I immediately thought DCWV "Rock Star" stack only to find that Clare herself had used a sheet from this stack . . . thought about a plan B but decided to stick with my first idea - check it out.

Clare's sketch

My take of the theme of Show your metal
Materials used:
  • White C6 card and envelope
  • White panel of Bristol board on to which my Recollections image and sentiment were inked using memento tuxedo black
  • Copic markers to colour and Sakura stardust glitter pens to highlight
  • White panel of Bristol board, coloured with a co-ordinating copic marker and then edged with a Martha Stewart punch
  • DCWV "Rock Star" card panel with corners rounded
  • Three metallic purple paper flowers with silver brads in their centres
  • Stix2 double sided tape to which silver leaf was applied
  • Three self adhesive faux gems to  finish
Hope you approve - I look forward to reading your comments

ALSO, Saturdays have turned in to new LESS IS MORE challenges and today's set theme is "OFF CENTRE" - fancy having a go? Then check  out their blog here - all you need to do is produce a Clean And Simple card which is off centre - schimples!!!! (as the meerkats might say!).

Have a fabulous Saturday and a VERY HAPPY EASTER! I'm off to have a go at the off centre challenge so feel free to check back later and see how it goes ........

2nd post of the day, challenge entry, please scroll down to read my earlier post

Hi there, me again, just a quickie . . . . this week's challenge over on Simply Less Is More was to use acetate!!! Not a speck of acetate in sight which might mean this would be the first challenge I would have missed since they started them, I didn't really want to miss it - especially as I'd won a prize for March - thought it might seem rude not to enter. The girls over on LIM offered several possibilities and it's gotten to Friday before I've realised (holiday head alert here!) that I DO indeed have acetate . . . all of my self adhesive gems are mounted on the blooming stuff and I've been using them like crazy all week so have almost finished a sheet of ACETATE!!! Going to be almost right up to the wire before the challenge closes but, FINALLY, here is my acetate entry - Hurrah! Not perhaps my finest ever card but I shall leave you to judge for yourselves.

Front view

An angled view so you can see the acetate!

Materials used:
  • Cream C6 card and envelope
  • Recollections bee sentiment
  • Retro flower punched in acetate and adhesive supplied using my Xyron sticker maker before . . .
  • applying Silver leafing to flower
  • Acetate with gemstones to attach acetate flower to card
  • Marvy Le Plume II yellow marker

Hope you like it and ...... to my fellow LIM-ettes, my apologies if I've not commented on your entry but I'm still on vacation - I've gone through as many as I've had time for and if yours isn't one I've commented on it's not because I didn't like it - honest!

Happy Easter folks

And now for the GOOD Friday Funny, this week provided (once again) by my pal Pat, thanks Pat - ENJOY .......... it's called "UNDERWEAR DUST"!!!

One evening a Husband, thinking he was being funny, said to his wife, 'Perhaps we should start washing your clothes in 'Slim Fast'. Maybe it would take a few inches off of your butt!'
His wife was not amused, and decided that she simply couldn't let such a comment go unrewarded.
The next morning the husband took a pair of underwear out of his drawer. 'What the Hell is this?' he said to himself as a little 'dust' cloud appeared when he shook them out.
'April', he hollered into the bathroom, ' Why did you put Talcum Powder in my underwear?'

She replied with a snicker. 'It's not talcum powder; it's 'Miracle Grow'!!!!!

The moral of the story? Never mess with a smart woman!!!!! Enjoy your Easter weekend and I hope the weather stays great for you all.
