Happy Thursday - it'll soon be the weekend!

Welcoming two new followers, the first being Hristina and the other is only my second male follower - Ray Murray - aka Sir Andy of Stafford - hello crafting buddy, hope you'll find an excuse to pop by from time to time and keep me in order!!!

Only one more sleep till the craftfest with buddies all over the world (Cornwall, Essex, Holland and Oxfordshire) - my new shoes are primed and ready and I'm not afraid to use them ....... for shopping!!! there's now the added bonus that the lovely Cherry might (just might at this stage) be able to join us too - how fabulous will that be? Crack on with your marking Cherry so you can spare the time on Sunday.

Time for a spot of crafting ..... another entry for OLW60 over on the Simplicity blog and also on the CraftyMess forum tonights challenge is "Anything that flies"

Materials used:
  • 5" square white card
  • Oval scalloped mask, placed on my card blank and Versacolour orchid dabbed.
  • Sequin waste then placed over the mask and Versacolour silver dabbed.
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiment inked in Versacolour Orchid and then again in Memento tuxedo black, giving a shadow effect
  • Inkadinkado image inked if Memento Deep pink (actual colour name totally escapes me!) and then again in grape jelly giving the burgundy colour

2nd post - challenge entry! If you missed my earlier post then please scroll down

Hi folks, me again and guess what????? I've managed some crafting!

After a disappointing trip to The Range, the only thing I achieved there was wearing my new shoes!!!, I finally knuckled down and made a card for One Layer Wednesday #60 which specified "Quick Layers of Ink" so I hope that four qualify!

Materials used:
  • 15cm square 300gsm scalloped white card and envelope
  • Hero Arts frame image inked in Versacolour Lime
  • Me and my big ideas flower inked first in Brilliance purple and then again in memento grape jelly, which gave my image a slight pearly sheen
  • TPC Studio sentiment inked in memento london fog

Hope you like it - I'm none too sure although I do normally love the purple and lime combo .........

Hope your Wednesday is going well - only two more sleeps here till my crafting weekend kicks off - excited? ME? Hard to tell but ...... hell, yeah!

What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday

Hi there and welcome to new follower, Win_or_lose52 - hope you'll find a reason to pop back some time soon.

Just took delivery of some vacation footwear, from Lands End - BOGOF too - I DOOOOO love a bargain. One pair pink and one pair, laughingly called "TOMATO" - bet you don't have to guess what colour those are though!!! Makes a change from flip flops for me though. If they're comfy I might just order another pair (yes, in a different colour!) since they sent me a 10% discount voucher too - which'll even cover the P&P!!! even better.

Is it me or is technology having a bad day again? I heard Susan Raihala muttering about people not being able to see her photos on her blog, the craftbubble forum just won't play (AGAIN!! and it's not even the weekend!) - hang on, let me check ........ nope, still got my growing band of followers who have been nipping off somewhere together several times over this past week. Now if I was a computer guru I would probably be able to venture an opinion on this little lot but, as it is, my statement on this phenomena is GRRRRRRRR - arggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to Susan's wonderful blog - her challenge for OLW60 is "Quick Layers of Ink" and, obviously, a One Layer card with some really smart examples so ....... if you fancy getting in to CAS (Clean And Simple - with plenty of white space, for the uninitiated) why not pop over to her blog or check out the Simply Less Is More blog which is also a CAS blog and this week features a fab sketch, remaining open to entries until Friday evening.

Well it's What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday again and, since I've done no crafting for two whole days now, I'm feeling a little creatively restless ....... guess I should nip off and have a go at Susan's challenge whilst trying to wear in my new shoes!!!! perhaps one of my inky layers could be ....... tomato! Thought I would try a different angle (since my work area doesn't change a whole lot! Sat outside last night, with my camera and thought "Blimey, I should really tidy up that area"!!!!

Have a happy and craft-y Wednesday folks - and a great BIG PURPLE HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my crafting buddy, ScrappyJacky - 21 again!

Afternoon what almost happened to Tuesday?

Hi there,

Welcome to Reggirl - my latest new follower - she is my 99th follower and NEHA who is my 100th!!!

Funny old day here, weather MUCH nicer than yesterday and, more importantly, COOLER too. I was determined to do some crafting but .... you know how it goes, you get up with the best of intentions - ring a pal and chat for an hour and before you know it, it's lunch time! THEN you read the news on-line and hear that T J Hughes are going in to administration - for those of you unfamiliar with T J Hughes they often do great things for a really reasonable price and I HAD thought of them for gifts this Christmas. Guess they won't be open at Christmas so I nipped off down there and had a quick recce and bought a few things. THEN I had to fill the car with fuel in readiness for the weekend and then I found myself at bordering on 3:00 and STILL no crafting to post on my blog ........ again!

Happy Tuesday all

Afternoon readers and welcome to the start of another week!

Wotcher fellow swelterers!

Hot one again today - for the UK that is! We look set for much of the country to reach 31°c today and very few of us lucky enough to have the benefit of air conditioning - there may be a few people (myself amongst them) likely to experience trouble sleeping tonight! Good Luck!

Of course, if you have kids ..... there's always the hose pipe - though it probably won't be too long before a hosepipe ban is imposed!

Good to see my followers have returned, so, welcome back - assume you were all on the coach heading to Glastonbury! Did you enjoy it?

I have nothing at all planned this week - not even a dental appointment!!! I'm quite sure that will change as the week marches on but I do have a bit of a craftathon planned for the weekend and I'm REALLY looking forward to that.

I just wish that more of my craft-y pals lived closer so we could get together more often and without such major upheaval! I know that both Wynneth and Lauren live close to craft-y pals and get together fairly regularly, to craft and chat. I have one pal who lives a couple of miles from me ...... but she works and my other craft-y pal lives 30+ miles from me and is on childminder duty several days each week so we have to plan ahead too! No matter, this weekend WILL be a whole lotta fun and I am hugely looking forward to it and hope the others are too. I'm also looking forward to meeting up with Rosie for dinner (how was your holiday hun?) and Debs (how's the neck, matey?) and next week, Katie (how was the trip over from Holland?) so I guess that little lot will more than make up for nothing the early part of the week!! I may need a holiday to get over it and I just KNOW I'm going to get inky fingers!

I've had no opportunity to craft yet and hubby seems intent on dragging me to Costco as they've a special offer on tyres at the mo ..... and we need FOUR!!!

Happy Monday peeps - have a lovely day and ...... stay cool!!! (if you can!)

Sunday, 26 June 2011

Morning and welcome to Sunday morning

Morning folks,

The weather forecasters reckon we're set for a lovely day and my hubby is threatening a BBQ - I told him it would rain for two reasons: 1) WIMBLEDON and 2) GLASTONBURY!!! The sun is presently doing a great job of proving the forecasters right (and me wrong) but ..... we shall see ..... my wellies are by the door! He's still suffering with man flu and I'm just hoping that I don't catch it as I have plans for next weekend ...........

I have crafting buddies visiting from Cornwall and Essex and we plan to craft and chat and shop and chat! I've booked tables at local restaurants and we have plans to meet up with a fourth crafter for dinner and fifth crafter at the Newbury Artstamps show (the shopping part!) so, you can quite see why I DON'T want or need a cold! I think I might just have to kill him! (joking of course as he's so seldom ill but talk about bad timing!). And only a couple of days later I shall be meeting up with another crafter, Katiejane, who is in the U.K. from Holland ...... no time for second hand man flu at all!

Anyhoo, following my LIM-fest yesterday and that adorable penguin image (Bah Humbug/LIM/CMLI challenge entry) I simply couldn't bear to put him away without using him once more and I DID love the circle presentation so ..... I made an ATC using him that last time (till nearer Christmas anyway!).

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Stripy paper
  • One burgundy coredinations circle
  • One white circle (slightly smaller) and my Cats Pyjamas image inked in memento tuxedo black
  • Marvy le plume alcohol markers, Copic Atyou Spica and Viva decor glitter pens to colour
  • Cats Pyjamas sentiment inked in memento tuxedo black on to white card and cut out, banner style
  • One faux crystal gemstone added to the base of the exclamation mark!

Hope you like it, I know I do and I hope my eventual swap-ee will too - though, frankly, it's a little too early to be sending out Christmas trading card swaps!

Anyways, Sundays usually means a themed challenge over on Craft Mad and Loving It but the theme has yet to be posted - wonder what it will be? Don't be surprised if you see a second post from me later then folks unless the weather is SOOOOOO FAB we decide to go out and/or have a BBQ!!!!

Happy Sunday - any plans?

3rd post for today - just a quick update, don't miss my earlier posts if you've not already seen them

Hi folks,

My followers came back - must've only been a short trip to the seaside (see my last post!!) and I can now welcome my new follower, CrazyaboutCards - hope you'll find yourself popping back from time to time.

Woo Hoo - bit of a crafting desert lately so it's good to be back on a roll .... the sketch over at Simply Less Is More is just fab this week and I've combined it with the Craft Mad & Loving It anything goes and the Bah Humbug theme of PENGUINS too! Well, we ARE allowed to combine up to five by the lovely Chrissie and Mandi! It's perhaps a little less white space than I would normally leave but I'm hoping that it will be allowed!

Materials used:
  • 5" x 7" 300gsm white card and envelope
  • Strip of papermania glittered self adhesive ric rac
  • Panel of burgundy coredinations edged top and bottom with a Martha Stewart Poinsettia punch (from a PATP set - I used the corner punch from this set to enhamce the insert)
  • Panel of silver holographic card with the corners rounded
  • Three burgundy card circles
  • Three white circles (slightly smaller than the burgundy) on to which I inked the Cats Pyjamas penguin using memento tuxedo black and then Marvy le plume alcohol markers and Copic Atyou Spica glitter pens to colour
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black directly on to the card

Hope you like my second card for LIM and Craft Mad & Loving It and my first for the Bah Humbug Penguins challenge. Also hoping your Saturday is going with a bang this week.

Just a quick get well message for my crafting pal, Debs, who's had a bad neck for a while now - feel better soon matey.

2nd post - challenge entry! If you missed my earlier post then please scroll down

Me again folks.

I see all my lovely followers have gone walkabout again - blooming blogger. I noticed a new follower and would love to welcome him or her ...... if only I knew who it was - welcome to you if you joined in the last 24 hours. Perhaps there's a coach trip of followers headed to the seaside ..... (nice link if I say so myself!!!!)

After the fiendish monogram theme of last week - which stumped many a LIM-ette. I have to confess, me included, I'm so glad that I checked the site BEFORE I stuck down my own version of illuminated letters and still had the chance to change it! Oops. Still, a challenge that takes you out of your comfort zone in to unknown territory is often a good thing - a chance to use a technique or image you might not otherwise. I went with Mickey Mouse - an image I had owned for years but probably only ever used two or three times - Yay Mandi and Chrissie and thanks for making me dust off Mickey! It came as quite a relief, however, this week to have a super sketch to follow. I do love this LIM challenge and have, so far, managed to enter every one and some waaaaaaaaaaaay more than once! - this may be one of those weeks! Not come across this challenge before?, then pop over and check it out - here or you could check out the head LIM-ettes individual blogs, Chrissie and Mandi

Materials used:
  • 15cm square 300gsm scalloped white card and envelope
  • Black card panel
  • Blue card panel, with corners rounded
  • Three white 300gsm die cut circles
  • Crafty Individuals seagulls and sentiment and All Night Media shell inked in memento tuxedo black on the circles
  • Crafty individuals sentiment inked in memento tuxedo black directly on to card blank
Hope you like it and I hope my fellow LIM-ettes do too.  I shall also be entering this for the Sketch free sketchie challenge over on Craft Mad & Loving It.

Anyway, how's your Saturday coming along? All craft-y is it? My hubby appears to have man-flu but has struggled manfully off to the flying field thus leaving me free (AGAIN?) to craft to my little hearts content.

Morning and welcome to a Sketchie Free Sketchie Day!!!

That's right readers, Saturdays are usually Sketchie day over on the Craft Mad and Loving It group but this week is a little different - it being vacation season and exam season the Design Team have found real life getting in the way so the sketch this week is kind of "free form" anything goes - hmmmm so much choice!

Check out the new challenge too over at Simply Less Is More ....... it's a sketch, set by Chrissie .... check it out below. I guess you could say that there IS a sketchie after all!!!!

Don't forget too, that the Bah Humbug challenge #25 is a really cute topic this week, open till 12 noon on Thursday June 29th - PENGUINS!

Have a great Saturday and a splendid weekend. Me? I have NOTHING planned (yet) this weekend though I have been busy over the last day or so, trying to line up get togethers with a number of friends and, next weekend, I have crafting pals coming out to play!! YEEE HAA indeedly doo - now that I AM looking forward to and then I'm also meeting up with a crafting pal over from Holland too so a real craftfest - lucky I don't have to fit work in too as there simply wouldn't be time!

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Hello readers,

Warned you I might be back .....

I really don't like working with acetate so I set myself a little project today . . . I thought, can't let a little thing like acetate get the better of me!! If you read my earlier post you will already know that I fell foul of technology with my printers - one jamming and the other the ink REFUSED to dry!! BUMMMMMM So then I thought ..... start small and (if it doesn't work) be prepared to chuck it out!!! So, an ATC seemed to fit the bill ......

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Papermania trees image inked in Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy several times on to the ATC blank
  • My Santa and sleigh image was inked in stazon Purple on to the front of my acetate and allowed to dry.
  • Turning over my acetate I zig zagged glossy accents over the reverse of the acetate before adding a few drops of Alcohol ink blue which I then (using a Suze Weinberg word) "smooshed" about to cover the the ATC area and to blend the blue.
  • Crystal Glamour Dust was then sprinkled on to the Acetate/ink
  • Tissue paper was placed over the reverse side and pressed down (best to have a rubber or latex glove on at this point!!!). A little more glossy accents applied to the tissue paper and then I placed this firmly down on to the ATC blank - you can see the trees image through the tissue which helps with placing. The piece was then set aside to dry and trimmed as necessary!

Hope you like it - it was splendidly messy and fun to make! And I'm thinking that I MAY not chuck it out!!!! Happy Friday peeps!

Friday Funny

Hi there,

Welcome to new followers Mustavcoffee and Jo Street and also to the end of another week ...... and the start of another weekend!!! YIPPEEEEEEE!

I went off to the hairdressers this morning so didn't have the chance to craft until my return ... which was a tad frustrating. I wanted to do some work with acetate and had (what I thought) was a brilliant idea. I had some digital images which I put together in a DTP programme and then sent to print on acetate - UH OH!! My inkjet printer didn't much care for the project and the ink resolutely refused to dry - BUM!
Ooopsie - spot the beautifully smudged sentiment!

On to plan B) which was to print said project on my laser printer - UH OH - turns out my laser printer didn't like the project either and declined my instruction to print at all - jamming my acetate firmly in the machinery - cheers lads! Now, do I have a plan C)? I do .... and I'm off in search of the necessary household materials for plan C) - wish me luck. All this wrestling with technology is giving me a headache!

The lovely folks at Bah Humbug have unveiled this weeks Christmas card challenge and it is ........... (small fanfare please!)  - PENGUINS. Fancy having a go? then pop over to their blog which can be found here I have been playing along for a while now and find myself well on target with my Christmas card collection - in fact I have amassed 80 so far! YAY . . . I should have plenty ready for me to start writing nice and early .......

And now for the Friday Funny, this week courtesy of my stitching pal Lilian - thanks Lilian - ENJOY!!!

Waiting in Doncaster to catch speeding drivers, a police officer sees a car puttering along at 22 mph.

Says he to himself, "This driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!" So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over.

Approaching the car, he notices that there are five old ladies, two in the front seats and three in the back ... wide eyed and white as ghosts.

The driver, obviously confused, says to him, "Officer, I don't understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?"

"Ma'am," the officer replies, "You weren't speeding but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers."

"Slower than the speed limit? No sir, I was doing the speed limit exactly ... twenty-two miles an hour!" the old woman says, a bit proudly.
The police officer, trying to contain a chuckle explains to her that A22 is the road number not the speed limit.

A bit embarrassed, the woman grins and thanks the officer for pointing out her error.
"Before I let you go, Ma'am, I have to ask ... Is everyone in this car OK? These women seem awfully shaken and they haven't made a sound this whole time," the officer asks.
"Oh, they'll be all right in a minute officer. We've just come off the A120."

If you have a "funny" you would like me to share then please either paste it in to a comment or leave me your e-mail address in a comment (I promise not to publish your e-mail address) - and I will, of course, credit you for providing it. If enough people donate a funny then I'll put names in a hat and have a THANK YOU draw later in the year too.

Have a fabulous weekend - catch you all tomorrow, when It's sketchie day and the new LIM challenge!!! - don't be late!

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Warned you I might be back! Like a gremlin that got fed after midnight (remember them?) .......

Remember too, how my ATC plans started out today? with the naked book pages? Well, here's how it finished!

Well, it's a little bit steampunk anyway - I DID say that I don't always "get" the genre and this appears to be one of those days - still, I quite like it. And here's a reminder of how it started out ..........

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Mod podge (to liberally coat the ATC blank and after applying the book page strips, to seal)
  • Book page ripped in to strips
  • Once the mod podge had sealed and dried I set about decorating - now my mod podge is glossy so Distress Ink didn't dry and neither did Memento ink .... plan B) here I come!
  • Paper Artsy cog image inked in Memento rich cocoa (OH BUM it didn't dry so .......) perfect pearls in pewter brushed over the wet ink - BINGO!
  • Rubber Stampede phonograph image inked in versamark and bronze perfect pearls brushed over (oh yes, on a roll now!!!)
  • Crafty Individuals image inked in Ranger Archival jet black - there! I defy you not to dry now!
  • Tim Holtz metal cog and silver brad attached with my trust Maplins (£5) cordless glue gun and YAYYY!

Hope you like it peeps - I think I deserve a cuppa! WHY oh WHY do I not think these things through? Perhaps I should have realised that the Mod Podge wouldn't allow certain inks to dry. I guess part of me did because I was thinking "Alcohol Inks" before I remembered peeling mod podge and alcohol inks off of my canvas - hmmmmmmm, me and multi media don't really have a comfortable relationship!

Hope your Thursday is progressing apace and that you haven't gotten too wet if you've been out. Perhaps you are watching "Wimbers" on the TV? ENJOY anyway! Back to my table of craftiness ............

Morning folks - how's your Thursday shaping up?

Hi there readers,

Well this morning dawned dry and almost sunny but the sun was obviously a little shy and has legged it off behind a cloud.

After recent busy-ness with friends I've been a bit lacking in the crafting department and aim to rectify that today ...... watch this space as there may be more than one post today - depending on how I get on.

I did see a BEAUTIFUL CASsteampunk card over on DollyDaydreams blog where she unveils that she is a Guest Designer at Just for Fun for their current Steampunk challenge - now I'm VERY taken with steampunk though not always sure I quite "get it" so today MAY be a chance for me to have another go! So far all I've done is take another ATC blank and coated it liberally in mod podge before adding torn strips from a VERY old book (1940 or thereabouts-it already had pages missing anyway!) and it's now drying before I ponder what to do next with it! Mind you - it was plainly an odd sort of story - as my eye wandered over the snippets I read the words: sepsis, heroin, diabetic and cleanliness!!! Hmmmm, not sure I recall ever reading this one! It's a cunning idea (and a great use of a plainly "dodgy" book) which I shamelessly STOLE from the lovely Brenda on her blog - see it here. Once it's dry, I can trim it back to ATC size and start working on it .........

I have to say that my recent blogversary was nowhere near as much fun  as a birthday - with no cards or presents but hey - I wanted to thank all the people who have taken the time to follow my blog and been kind enough to leave comments - I do so love to read your comments - it's like having creative mail!

And talking of people who have been following me ....... those who can remember my first few blog posts and the saga of THE SHED!!! How long did that take? Well, we have a second, and thankfully smaller, shed which also needed similar treatment and hubby set to work on this about a week ago and it got finished pretty darn quickly too - hardly even time for me to blog about it at all so all that remains is for me to post the BEFORE and AFTER photographs - now that blogger is allowing photos once again. No idea what that was all about yesterday but I couldn't upload photos all day!! Hmmmmmm - just another little test of my patience, eh?

There now, doesn't that look better? In case you're wondering how we let it get that bad - it's not part of the "estate" regularly visited, being hidden away round a corner!!!!! Well, not by me anyway!

Anyway, that's all ............ for now! Have a fun Thursday and - catch you next time!

Wednesday, 22 June 2011

Morning - here it is hump day Wednesday . . . again!

For some very strange reason Blogger will NOT allow me to upload photos - no idea what's going on there! So I tried the old cut and paste from elsewhere and Yee Haa - here is my work desk - mind you it IS a blooming mess so before I can do any crafting I AM going to have to clear up - oops!

Been out to visit a pal this morning, cuppa and a biccie and a chat - very nice. Come home to do some crafting and blogging but thwarted by the mighty blogger!! Anyone else having trouble or is it just me?

Guess I'll go back to the crafting and hope Blogger heals itself in my absence!! Hopefully back later with something to show for my afternoon - even if it is only a photo of a tidier work desk!!

Later folks!

Tuesday, 21 June 2011

OMG - it's my first blogversary!!!! I have candy! CLOSED

Can you believe it ........ it's is one whole year since I started the PurpliciousPrincessDiaries!!!!!!!!! WOW-ser. I held off from blogging because I couldn't believe that people would be interested in reading my daily musings ....... little did I know how addictive it can be and that I have a growing band of followers - thank you all. Since June 21st 2010 I have notched up 603 posts and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that this means I often post more than once each day!! Sad or what?!?!?

Anyway, a blogversary should be marked in some way so .... I have candy . . .

Simply post this photo on your blog with a link back to my own and leave a comment here, with a link to your blog to be eligible. Oh yes, and don't forget to become a follower if you aren't already! Please do this before 8pm (GMT) on FRIDAY JULY 8th 2011

In the meantime - have a fab TUESDAY all

Tuesday morning - will it rain??????

Hi folks,

I've been given an award - all the way from Clark County, Washington in the U.S., from fellow LIM-ette Bernadet, so thank you so much Bernadet - I'm so pleased to have you visit my blog from so far away - even though it's not far through the ether!!!

Apparently this award comes with conditions, which are .........

A) you have to thank the person who gave you the award - done!
B) in order to accept this award you have to share SEVEN things about yourself
C) you have to pass this on to deserving blog buddies and leave messages on their blogs to let them know

Well A) is done and for C), rather than offend anyone, ..... IF you are a regular visitor to my blog and IF you would like this award then please take it - it's for you. For some idea of the talented crafters who might take this award then just trawl down my sidebar for the list of blogs I follow.

And now for B) the seven snippets to share:
  1. My car's name is UGLY (even though it really isn't that ugly!)
  2. I'm very fond of guinea pigs and, until quite recently,  have always kept them
  3. I always wanted to emigrate to Australia and become a teacher
  4. That was before I discovered that I'm "allergic" to children!
  5. You already know how I LOVE all things purple but did you know my next favourite colour is LIME?
  6. My favourite author is Clive Cussler
  7. My favourite childhood book is John Masefields "Box of Delights"
I was trawling blogs yesterday and came across the lovely Brenda's blog - I so love her work, she's been working on multi media for ages and given me the confidence to give it a go with last week's canvas (which I'd had in my stash for ages and ages) and today she was playing around with book pages ......... well off I went with a book of my own, a pot of gesso and some other bits and pieces and Brenda's really responsible for the trading card below .... hope you like it - thanks Brenda!

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Book page torn in to strips and adhered using clear gesso and then gesso'd again to seal
  • Ranger Walnut stain applied over ATC
  • Imagination sand glitzie dabbed randomly to add a little sparkle which, sadly, doesn't show much in the photo!
  • Time Holtz diamond pattern inked in Distress Ink aged mahogany on to base ATC
  • Paper Artsy image inked in Memento rich cocoa on to white card, cut out and dabbed with Distress Ink tea dye before edging with black and adhering to card
  • Hampton Arts sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black on to base card
  • Marvy le plume marker (brown) used to edge ATC
Thanks for looking and have a fab Tuesday everyone.

Morning readers and welcome to the start of another week!

Hello fellow bloggers and readers,

Now with the age of technology comes a new hazard - SPAM - don't you HATE IT? I do, I frequently get spam e-mails offering me all sorts of things from enlargements for equipment I don't have (?!) to viagara and beyond (to be said in a Buzz Lightyear kind of voice)! On a well known craft forum Spammers appear to have moved in and be making themselves quite at home, spamming on the blog page as well as the general chat page making it quite annoying for many (myself included - after all I can't even stand in louboutin shoes let alone walk in them!). I don't really "get" why they do it either since their text is usually just garbage cut and pasted from somewhere else it's not even as if they are trying to sell a product!! No, I just don't get it at all - anyway, I digress, I was eyeballing the general forum this very morning and fell upon a particular post by an active forum member and she had found the best solution to spammers and I'd like to share it with you this morning ..... I've enlarged it but perhaps too far as the lines are now a tad on the fuzzy side but ... isn't it fab?

No crafting yet today and no earth shattering news to share (like a lottery win ..... maybe one day!) so .... Happy Monday peeps

2nd post of the day - please scroll down to read earlier post

Hi folks, me again,

As I mentioned recently, I exchange ATC materials with a pal on the Isle of Skye and she recently sent me these materials
which I then set about turning in to an ATC. We're allowed to add things, so don't panic because I added a few bits and bobs! I coloured the craft stamper freebie image using Marvy le plume alcohol markers and Copic Atyou Spica glitter pens and coloured the buttons using glimmer chalk. I also "sewed" the buttons on to the backing card using multicolured metallic embroidery thread and then a piece of narrow double sided tape with gold glitter. I cut out my image and mounted it on to silver holographic card before adhering this to my card and finally finishing it with two faux crystal gemstones .... like it? I sure hope Pam will ....... now all I have to do is think up a challenge for her, to send back to her with my finished ATC - at which time she will send me her original using the above materials - neat idea, huh?

Of course, it also fits my themed challenge of NOT YOUR AVERAGE PET over on Craft Mad and Loving It too - pets pouring tea? NOT COMMON eh?

And what am I sending back to Pam? The materials below . . . and I've also shown the ATC I made with the duplicate materials

Hope your Sunday's going to plan and that, for you too, the weather is better than yesterday - ENJOY

Morning and welcome to Sunday morning

Hi folks,

Sunday again - what's the weather like with you? Yesterday we had planned to go to Kemble Air Show but the weather forecast was complete pants and, at 08:30 our overflowing gutters had spread half way across the road, creating the impression of a small river flowing past our door so ........ we figured it would just be a day spent trudging around in the mud trying to get out of the rain and didn't bother! Looks like we were right too! Today? LOVELY and sunny - why wasn't it like this yesterday???

Welcome to new follower, Sandra How - hope you'll find yourself popping back from time to time - always nice to see new faces and thanks for following my blog.

Regular readers will know that I participate in an ATC swap challenge with a buddy on the Isle of Skye . . . we exchange materials and make an ATC each, using identical materials which we then swap . . . this is what Pam has sent me this time.

Don'cha just love that Craft Stamper freebie image? The two round items are punched buttons - this could take a while! Do check back later to see what - if anything - I've come up with for this one!

Well, it's Themed Challenge day today and, as the Guest Design Team Member for this week it falls to me to set the theme. I've chosen "Not your average pet"!!!, and am hoping that this will set a lot of people thinking ........ can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. The challenge is set for one week over on Craft Mad and Loving It so ....... why not pop over and check it out. Here is my card ..... btw the insert says Wishing you a Hoppy Birthday!

2nd post - challenge entry! If you missed my earlier post then please scroll down

Wotcher peeps - me again,

Sun shine through the showers right now but hey, pretty sure it's only temporary respite!

Not sure whether you can see the rain but, trust me, it was coming down like a sheet!!!! You JUST about see what I mean about the "river" effect in the gutters.

So, it was off to the craft table ........ to have a go at the LIM challenge which, this week, is MONOGRAMS.

I thought I would use an instantly recognisable image and a stamp I've had for YEARS but hardly ever use. I whipped out my Memento tuxedo black pad, inked up my stamp and ........ remembered why I don't use it often! The ink sort of puddled on the solid bits - hmmmmmm, out with my sand paper and rubber and on to mark II - much better but still not perfect so - bored with this - I used a marvy le plume alcohol marker in black and carried on ...... it proved trickier than I thought and I've looked at some of the other entries and comments from Chrissie and Mandi and find myself wondering what they will make of mine ...... hmmmmmmm again!

Materials used:

  • Red C5 card and envelope
  • Rubber Stampede image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card (with corners rounded) and then filled in using pro markers and marvy le plume alcohol pens and highlighted with a white gel pen
  • Black card panel with corners rounded
  • Computer generated initials cut in to banner and outlined with an SU fineliner pen
Whilst making the above card I first laid it out on white and really didn't like it so set it aside and picked up a whole different tack .... which didn't work as a monogram for me either but did turn it to some not bad masculine cards and then I went back to "the mouse" and tried again using a red card - MUCH better (in my mind) so I ended up with three cards . . . .  RE-SULT!!!!

Materials used:
  • C5 stardream card and envelope
  • Brown organza ribbon
  • Crafty Individuals image inked in Memento rich cocoa

Materials used:

  • Funstamps image inked in Memento rich cocoa directly on to the base card

Hope the weather isn't quite so weird where you are and that you are enjoying your Saturday - I'm off now to work on the themed challenge for tomorrow!!!
