Well I'm Bloggered!!!!

Hi everyone,

It's less than four weeks till Christmas so I thought it was time to start getting in the mood .... no, NOT with Christmas music but .... I've temporarily changed my profile piccie (like it?) and I've installed a countdown ticker on my blog too. If you don't "do" Christmas then I hope you are not offended by my festive appearance!! To those of you who do "do" Christmas - SEASONS GREETINGS

It's also What's On  Your Work Desk Wednesday but, as my desk doesn't change much from week to week here's a peak at one of my three art journalling /  collage drawers - well, one layer of it anyway!!

Happy What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday!

Here we are, Tuesday again ....

and it's SIX whole weeks today since I became the ceramic woman with my hip replacement. Apparently, I am now able to turn in bed which means I can go back to sleeping on my side - hurrah! and those gorgeous passion killing compression stockings can come off for a couple of hours during the day - let joy (and toes) be unconfined!

I fell over this stamp in my collection once more and remembered how simply fab it is - doesn't it lend itself well to Clean And Simple? AND it's not a LARGE postage stamp to mail it either! Here's another BLING entry for the Simply Less Is More challenge this week - my third doncha know!

 Materials used:
  • 5" scalloped square, 300 gsm white card and matching insert and envelope
  • Inkadinkado sentiment and Penny Black wreath inked in Memento paris dusk ink
  • Crystal stickles - to bling it to within an inch of its life!!!
And here's a close up of the stickle bling!

Like it? Here's the envelope and insert - check them out too .....

And they make such great batch cards that I "ran up a couple more" in similar style ....

Have a good Tuesday folks.

Hi there and welcome to Monday

Hi there,

Hope you all had a great weekend - what did you all get up to? We're told that today is the busiest shopping day of the year, for on-line purchases so, my question is ..... will you be shopping on-line today?

The Simply Less Is More challenge, unveiled on Saturday morning, is to feature a CAS card with BLING!! Now this appealed to the Clean And Simple Card maker in me and I've had one go already ..... and now here's another. I was inspired by a newly acquired image and seeing another LIM-ette using this stamp (check out her entry here).

Materials used:
  • DL cream linen card and white envelope
  • Woodware image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card and cut out
  • Pro markers, to colour
  • Faux crystals to bling up the tree
  • Stickles to further bling it up
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Memento paris dusk

Close up of the bling!!

Yesterday evening saw me out for my first CHRISTMAS meal with my cousin, Debra, and my pal, Liz. We lead busy lives and this was about the only date we could manage, at the weekend, between now and January ......... we trundled along to the local Beefeater for their newly launched Christmas menu. They had Christmas decorations and a pretty tree in the reception are. They also had another one with what looked like price tags on it but, when we looked, the tags were little adverts for ....... Costa Coffee!!!! The starters and desserts were very nice but our three steaks were about the poorest quality we've had in a while, and CHEWY too - such a shame as everything else was good .... except the cracker jokes but who expects good cracker jokes?? It was so nice to get together anyway so we entirely overlooked the steak - especially as their chips were so fab! Ooops. Not a late night as Debra had to get to Birmingham after she left us so Liz and I adjourned back to ours for a further natter and a cuppa.

My pal, Liz

Debra and I

Have a great Monday - catch you later

Morning and welcome to Sunday morning

Morning all,

A lovely sunny but windy day here - not too cold - perfect for a good brisk walk, which I shall be taking once I've posted this. Hubby's gone flying but we're neither of us sure how long he'll be out, due to the windy conditions.

Yesterday saw challenges launched on both Craft Mad and Loving It and Simply Less Is More and I'm HOPING that this card fulfills both criteria! CMLI had the cute little poem about a snowball for inspiration and the Simply Less Is More challenge is BLING .....

Materials used:
  • C5 300gsm white card and envelope
  • Double sided tape
  • Piece of lace (for the faux lace technique using the glitters below)
  • Glitter in navy and interference blue
  • Coredinations navy textured card stock
  • LOTV image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card
  • GoCreate die cuts in two sizes
  • Pro Markers and Copic Atyou Spica Glitter pens
  • White/Silver "snowball"
  • Studiog sentiment inked in Memento paris dusk
  • Faux crystal gemstones added at random - to bling it up!

Close up - to show the bling up a little better!

Enjoy your Sunday - I hope to stop by your blogs myself a little later - see you then!

Hi and welcome to Saturday

Morning all,

Saturday again and a dull and grey one it is here too!! Still, I have a project which might raise your comfort level - it's a bit on the Christmas-y side though - are you ready for all things Christmas-y?

Further to my last post about ATC swap materials ...... here's what I made with the materials sent by my trading card buddy, Pam.

As Pam had sent me a teeny tiny envelope I decided to run with it rather than cut the front off. I added the following materials:
  • Green patterned backing paper from DCWV
  • Rectangular panel with rounded corners which I coloured using Brilliance rocket red gold and the direct to paper technique
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Ranger Archival jet black
  • I coloured the pearlised flowers using a combination of Brilliance rocket red gold and poppy.
  • Crystal faux gemstone which I had coloured using a pumpkin pro marker
What do you think? Anyway, now it's my turn to send my ATC back to Pam with challenge materials for her ........... I selected this fabulous image from Sparkle 'n Sprinkle and an ATC blank - we'll see what Pam makes of this.

The Craft Mad and Loving It challenge has been set by that little tinker, Rosie, this week. She's the master of fiendish challenges and she's chosen a poem to get us all thinking ...

A Christmas Poem.

I made myself a snowball, As perfect as can be

I thought I'd keep it as a pet, and let it sleep with me

I made it some pajamas, and a pillow for its head

Then last night it ran away, but first it wet the bed!

Whaddya think - fiendish .... or what? Inspired to have a go? Why not check out the other entries which I just know will be appearing as the day goes on.

There's a new challenge over on the Simply Less Is More blog too and this week it's a Clean And Simple card with ......

Happy Saturday - will be back with the challenge makes - maybe later today!!!

Hi there and welcome to the Friday Funny!

Hi folks,

Morning everyone and welcome to what the Americans call "Black Friday" - this being the day following Thanks Giving and, traditionally, a day for shopping and tremendous bargains. Unless you are a SERIOUSLY keen shopper (it's not for the faint hearted) it's not a day to just nip to the mall for one or two things! I can remember my Floridian neighbour telling me they had tried to go to a mall on Black Friday once and foolishly set off for 10:00 (around the regular opening time) and not even being able to get close to the parking lot let alone actually able to park!!  And I don't even like to shop in December as it's too crowded!

I know for a fact that my Florida neighbours will be siting their enormous Christmas tree today (beats shopping today!???) and part of me wishes I was there to see it. Roger spends a lot of time on this particular element of the festive season and it's always well worth seeing. Sally? I suspect she'll be having a well earned rest after Thanks Giving yesterday - I hear tell there were ELEVEN people there for the day who will all have needed feeding! Having being privileged to share their family Thanks Giving I do happen to know that it will have been a fun day with some great food - hope you had a fab day, Sally and Roger, if you're reading this!

Yesterday saw me off to the hairdressers. Due to my vacation and operation I'd really missed two appointments and was feeling more like an Old English Sheepdog! My fringe (bangs) was so long that I felt like I was peering through curtains! Boy, was I glad to get to the cutting chair! I gave the lovely Anne my instructions and she went to work - she did exactly what I asked ............................ and I hated it! Ooops! Plan B), whilst only a slight modification, was much more me and I'm very happy this morning. Of course, hubby is still having to chauffeur me about but I hope to be returning to driving very soon. A neighbour of ours has recently relocated to just down the road from my hairdressers so he was able to nip to hers for a cuppa whilst I got "primped" - all very civilised!

Since it's Friday today there is a new challenge set over at the Bah Humbug blog and this week's challenge is to use FABRIC on your project - hmmmmm, the obvious is ribbon but I might have a little think and see if I can come up with anything else!

In the meantime ..... my regular readers will recall my ATC swap with a buddy on the Isle of Skye - well she's sent me my next set of challenge materials and here they are .........

What would you do with them?

And now for the Friday Funny which was forwarded to me by my husband - hmmmmf!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend - see y'all tomorrow for the Simply Less Is More and CMLI challenges!

Afternoon and welcome to What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday . . . .

Hump Day Wednesday again - hope your week's going according to plan.

Over on Craft Mad and Loving It the lovely Karen set us a challenge of using white on white with very little colour. White on White always looks so classy I think ...... everyone else seems to be thinking Christmas so I decided to try a different tack .........

Materials used:
  • C5 white 300 gsm card and matching envelope
  • A5 white card panel - embossed with my swiss dots embossing folder
  • Die cut circle - embossed with a swirls embossing folder and brushed with Milled Lavender distress ink
  • Spellbinders butterfly die cuts in three sizes on white card and silver holographic mirri card
  • Kaisercraft sentiment inked in Ranger Archival jet black and cut in to a banner shape
  • Faux crystal gemstones on the body of the butterfly
And, of course, it's What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday - well, as you can see below, the above card was on my work desk when I took the photo!

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday and I'll catch you again soon.

Afternoon what almost happened to Tuesday?

I started Tuesday with the best of intentions this morning ..... and an early start! I was showered and dressed and ready to roll on a day of craftiness - right up until the moment hubby said "mall then?" - of course it went down hill for there forwards! Not that I had a problem with going to the mall but I only got my single stick yesterday (in lieu of crutches) and hadn't ventured far on it. Still, I'm no quitter so I thought "why not give it a test drive?" ... and off we went.

Hubby primarily wanted to scout the food hall at M&S to see what wondrous goodies might be available to tempt us over the holiday period (it'll be here before you know it ..... after all, last posting date for Australia and New Zealand is only twelve days away!) and I DID think I might be able to finish my last few bits and bobs of Christmas gift shopping. NORMALLY M&S have a fairly splendid selection of gifts .... this year? Not so much!! Not at all in fact - what did I buy? Nada, zip, zilch, nothing, not a sausage - actually a box of luxury biscuits and that was IT!!!! Hmmmmf that means I shall have to sally forth at least once more between now and December 25th then and you all just KNOW what the shops are already like. Here am I limping and using a stick and SLOWLY approaching the car - some excited motorist decided that we would be leaving in the not too distant future so completely blocked the parking lot waiting for our space! Crazy!

A quick bite of lunch and I'll hit the table of craftiness I thought and sat down to watch the news ........ followed by "Operation Petticoat" and then it was half past three. A cup of tea and then I'll hit the table of craftiness I thought - fortunately, nothing further came along to distract me so ......

Materials used:
  • C6 300 gsm Kraft card and matching envelope
  • DCWV striped backing paper
  • Red Coredinations textured red card
  • Recollections bauble and Woodware sentiment inked in Ranger Archival jet black on to white card
  • Crystal stickles
  • Sage green satin ribbon
  • Two faux crystal gemstones
  • Corner rounder

Hope you like it - better late than never huh?! I debated whether to colour the bauble but decided that there was enough colour going on  elsewhere on the card and that the stickles would be plenty - what do you all think?

Hope you are enjoying your Tuesday and haven't fallen foul of as many distractions as I have!!!

Morning readers and welcome to the start of another week!

Hi folks,

Hope you had a splendid weekend and are ready to face another week!

I'm back at the hospital this afternoon for what I hope will be a rubber stamped approval of my progress since my op, almost five weeks ago! I didn't feel like I made much progress initially but now feel myself improving daily and the dreadful pre-op pain has gone and my mobility continues to improve - yee haa - REEEEESULT! It was worth it!

Anyhoo, to celebrate, I have hit my temporary table of craftiness with abandon this morning - looking forward to being able to return to my permanent crafting home some time VERY soon though and all my much missed supplies.

Here's a third entry for the Simply Less Is More blog challenge of silhouettes - this is the second attempt at my third attempt (does this make sense?), the reject also appears ...... below, I'd be interested to think which you prefer readers.

Materials used:
  • 5" square 300gsm scalloped card and matching envelope
  • Circular mask
  • Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans
  • Water spritzer
  • Penny Black image and Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Ranger Archival jet black (I tried Memento but it just didn't stamp black enough)
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

And now for the mark I version! I just felt it needed a little extra - then I decided that I preferred the mark II sentiment over the one below too ...... and so it goes on!

Materials used:
  • 5" square 300gsm scalloped card and matching envelope
  • Penny Black image and Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Ranger Archival jet black (I tried Memento but it just didn't stamp black enough)
  • Crystal stickles to highlight

Which do you prefer?

Yesterday saw us round at the surrogates for the Secret Santa draw. I had what I felt were brilliant ideas for two of the surrogates but guess what? I didn't draw either of them! BUM! Back to the drawing board!

Yes, there was food too!
Have a fantabulous Monday despite the (mostly) grotty weather outside!

Sunday, Sunday!

Hi there,

Karen set the Saturday/Sketchie challenge over on Craft Mad and Loving It and, with Christmas rolling ever closer, she picked a Christmas Carol or Song as her theme. Well, this set me wondering .... the first thing that came to mind was the Twelve Days of Christmas as I have the fab clear stamps from Penny Black but ..... I used them for a previous sketch challenge that was song related and I didn't want to be a "one trick pony"!!! so - then I remembered this Trimcraft set. Now I don't really like using this set as the image is so very shallow that it's tricky to get a decent stamped image. I tried using Memento ink for the snowman, without success so ended up using Ranger Archival jet black but this doesn't react well to pro markers - what a choice?!?!? So you can see the final result has very little in the way of colouring.

Materials used:
C6 300 gsm Kraft card and matching envelope
Trimcraft image and sentiment inked on to white card
Pro markers to colour
Silver mirri card to layer image panel
Plaid and Snowflake papers by DCWV
Red organza ribbon tied round the bp and in to a knot
Crystal stickles to highlight snow on the image and the snowflakes on the backing paper

Hope you like it. Karen has also set the Sunday themed challenge on CMLI too and it's WHITE ON WHITE!

Here's another silhouette entry for the LIM challenge ...

Materials used:
  • 5" square 300 gsm scalloped white card
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle image inked in Ranger Archival jet black
  • Copic Atyou Spica glitter pens in red and black
  • Crystal stickles
  • Narrow red satin ribbon

Max from Bah Humbug very kindly left me a comment about my little box from their Bag or Box challenge - just in case anyone is interested ......  it's a Split Coast Stampers tutorial and you can see it here - ENJOY

Well, today's the day we join the surrogate family for a meal and carry out our Secret Santa draw - now I'm not normally a pessimist but I pretty much guarantee that, because I have had a "lightbulb moment" regarding gifts for two of them, I won't draw either of them!!! What do you reckon? Came to me whilst I was trawling t'internet for something completely unrelated whilst listening to the radio - I can't say any more at this stage - for fear of further jinxing the draw - I'll let you know how it works out!

Saturday, 19 November 2011

Hi there and welcome to Saturday

Yesterday saw us heading off to a pals in the early afternoon, for the I.T. department (my hubby) to look in to her phone and internet problem!! Took a while but, by the time we left, all of her phone sockets worked and so did her internet. Me? I enjoyed the trip, the tea and a mince pie too!!! Yes, it's rapidly approaching THAT time of year.

Here we are at Saturday again - challenge day for me! There's a new challenge over on the Simply Less Is More blog and this week's CAS project is: SILHOUETTES!! Hmmmmmm - took some thinking about and some subterfuge as it meant sneaking behind the couch to my proper craft area - which I'm still not supposed to do!. Anyway, here's mine and I hope you will feel my sneaking about was worthwhile ....

Materials used:
  • 5" square 300gsm scalloped white card and envelope
  • Penny Black bauble image inked in Ranger Archival jet black
  • Woodware sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Quickie glue pen and glamour dust to highlight the ribbon
  • Crystal stickles used to just add extra bling elsewhere

And over on the Craft Mad and Loving It groups the new challenge (set by Karen) this week is to make a Christmas card depicting a Christmas song or Carol! YIKES - might have to think about that one! You MIGHT catch me being cheeky and calling my LIM entry "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"!!!!

Tomorrow sees us getting together with the surrogate family over dinner and we'll have our annual Secret Santa draw too. Great, that'll be another two presents we can get crossed off of our rapidly shrinking list of presents to get. I have a lovely pile of goodies growing - all I need now is to muster the enthusiasm to WRAP them all! Of course, I NORMALLY do this on the dining room table but that's currently in use as a temporary craft room - oops. Best I get on with this rehab so I can move my craft stuff back to its normal home and start preparations for Christmas ...... otherwise the tree will be going up and there won't be any presents wrapped to put underneath! How are you lot doing with your Christmas shopping? Do you buy the lot and then sit and have a wrapfest or do you wrap as you buy?

Don't know what your plans for the day might be but I hope you will have a good one

Friday, 18 November 2011

2nd post - challenge entry! If you missed my earlier post then please scroll down

Hi folks,

Only me again, with a second blog post for the day ........... this morning the lovely peeps at Humbug Hall unveiled their new challenge for the week and it is: "A BAG OR A BOX"! Well, a pal of mine showed me this fab box template (thank YOU Lauren!) a little while back and ......

The box

And matching tag!

Materials used:
  • A4 sheet of Kanban 300gsm white card cut to be twice the length of the width, the off cut was used to die cut a tag
  • Inkadinkado scroll holly image inked in Versamagic "SAGE" all over the box and on the tag
  • Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the sides of the box
  • Two lengths of narrow white satin ribbon coloured using Marvy YG842
  • Inkadinkado sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Quickie glue pen
  • Foil in red (berries), Green (holly on the tag) and gold (star on the tag)

And there you have it - honestly, it took longer for the quickie glue pen to dry than it did to make the box! Schimples! - hope you like it.

Hope your Friday is motoring to a satisfactory conclusion. To my pal Lauren - feel better soon and to another pal, Debs - hope you get something sorted soon - in the meantime, all the best.

See you tomorrow as it's another challenge day at the purple palace!

Hi there and welcome to the Friday Funny!

Hi there, another Friday - already????

It's Children in Need day today and I'm sure many of will feel encouraged to give give give. Enjoy the entertainment side of it too.

My regular readers will recall that I maintain an ATC swap with a pal on the Isle of Skye and that we exchange materials to make our swaps more interesting. WELL ........ Pam sent me a letter, ATC's and swap materials what must have been an AGE ago but my operation got in the way, along with my husband piling everything on top of everything else in the spare room and I've only just unearthed my outstanding correspondence (there was another swap ATC and letter too) so I hope that both Pam and Denise will forgive my tardiness.

Long story short ..... here are the materials Pam enclosed.

So, any idea what I made? Well here it is .....

Materials used:
  • Uncolored Image and raffia
  • Backing paper
  • Frehand border drawn using a Faber Castell Pitt Pen
  • Marvy alcohol markers and Copic Atyou Spica pens (unfortunately, the image was stamped with ink which bled upon use of alcohol pens)
  • Quickie glue pen and crystal glamour dust
  • Faux crystal gemstone
  • Scotch quick dry adhesive
And here are the materials I'm sending out to Pam to see what she makes with them ...... the flourish was cut using the reverse side of the double sided Stripey paper from Costco!

Over on the Bah Humbug blog there's a new challenge set this morning. The folks at Humbug Hall have decided on the theme of a BAG or a BOX this week so get your thinking caps on and have some pre Christmas fun with this one!

Have a fab weekend ...... and now for the Friday funny which, this week, has been pinched from crafting buddy Doodles (aka Sharon) - thanks matey - ENJOY

Thursday, 17 November 2011

Happy Thursday - it'll soon be the weekend!

Hi everyone, how's your day?

I'm feeling good today, I'm moving about easier AND the postman brought me a premium bond cheque (yee haa - such a shame they missed off so many zero's?!?!?!?!) - an incentive to make my walk as far as the post box today! The postman also brought me two more Christmas gifties and these are for my dear hubby so I'm very happy with them.

It's also a pretty nice looking sunny day and hubby's off to the flying field this afternoon - leaving me free to  ...... CRAFT!!! YAY, although a pal has said she might pop in for a cuppa some time this afternoon but she's normally so busy that this might just turn in to a flying visit. Anyhoo - if I get any crafting done then you'll probably see a second post from me later as I didn't manage to get any done yesterday and I'm feeling the urge to get glittery! Wish me luck peeps

Have a great Thursday and, if I don't see you later, see you at the Friday Funny tomorrow!

How's your Tuesday

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by - it's always lovely to read your comments. Today I would like to welcome Debbie as my new follower, hope you'll pop back from time to time too.

Well I got up full of good intentions this morning ..... then the phone rang and I got chatting to a pal. By the time I'd taken my walkies, had my lunch and then visited a friend - with hubby as she has been having internet and phone problems - it was almost too late to do much else!

I did manage an ATC but feel I overdid the Christmas Cheer glitter - but simply had to use it as it's such a glorious colour combination! What do you think?

Materials used
  • ATC blank
  • Distress Ink in Barn Door for the background
  • Paper Artsy leaf background and Sunshine Designs spray inked in Distress Ink in Bundled Sage
  • Sunshine Designs ear of wheat inked in Distress Ink Barn Door
  • Quickie glue pen used to highlight parts of the wheat and then either glamour dust or Sparkle 'n Sprinkle Christmas cheer glitter applied

Have a great TUESDAY everyone and I'll catch you again sometime soon

Monday, 14 November 2011

Hi there and welcome to Monday and a blog candy alert!!!

Hi folks,

Here we are at Monday again - they come around so fast - hope you enjoyed your weekend. I have pals who have suffered over the weekend with bad backs, painful teeth and tummy aches so, to all of you, I hope you are feeling much better this morning.

I decided to crack open some glitter yesterday .... In addition to making a red and green ATC which I cheekily entered for the LIM challenge - Chrissie was absolutely right when she said it wasn't really quite CAS enough, I thought I would make another - ATC's are always handy when you regularly swap with pals.

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet, Barn Door
  • Sunshine Designs image inked in Memento tuxedo black
  • Quickie glue pen and Glamour dust
  • Matte accents (couldn't reach for my glossy's!) and Sparkle 'n Sprinkle Christmas Cheer glitter
  • Faux crystal gemstone
I'm sure the eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted the reason I used the beautiful red/green/gold glitter ..... my ink pad had missed a small part of the image! Ooops, ah well, even after all this time - we ALL make mistakes! Hope you can overlook my faux pas!

Went out for a little drive yesterday ...... intended to visit a pal but as we approached we saw them zooming off in the opposite direction!! Sent her a text but I guess she won't have seen it as she was driving so we headed on to Hallam and Severn beach and then home again via lower Almondsbury - all very nice. Actually it was just nice to get out - so, in addition to making my way (solo) to my neighbours and then walking round the close this is the furthest I've made it so far - yee haa. As always, I had my trusty camera with me and managed a couple of snaps of the wintry sunset ...

Oh and the Craft Barn has some serious candy on offer, as they are celebrating their 600th follower - woo hoo! I've been a follower for a while and love their themed projects each week. Interested in winning the candy? Then follow this link here and see what you have to do. This candy is available until November 25th - wanna see what's on offer? ....

Have a fun day - catch you all either later today or tomorrow!!
