Morning and welcome to sketchie day!

Morning all,

And what a cold one it is in many places this morning. It was blooming chilly overnight and, at 09:00 this morning it was STILL -6°c!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr - wrap up warm and stay safe if you are heading out today.

Over on the craftbubble group CRAFT MAD and LOVING IT it is Karen's turn to set the challenge and she has decided to make hers a Christmas card ........ featuring BAUBLES. Well, I only went with one but it IS a bauble and it IS purple - who would have thought it!!!

Materials used:
  • 8" square 300 gsm white card and matching envelope
  • Go Kreate fancy rectangle dies in three sizes (small and large cut from white card and medium cut from silver mirri card)
  • Using the large die cut I coloured a border using a purple pro marker and then inked my Inkadinkado Holiday flourish in Colour Box heliotrope and stamped round the edge before adhering the silver die cut centrally
  • Crystal stickles used to highlight flourish
  • Paper Inspiration's bauble inked in versamark ink and then heat embossing using silver sparkle embossing powder.
  • Purple pro marker used to colour bauble and then glossy accents added to give shine - set aside to dry
  • Purple wool wrapped round the base card and knotted off centre before fixing in place by gluing image panel on to card.
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiment inked in Memento tuxedo black and highlighted with wink of stella glitter pen and then edged with purple pro marker
  • Purple fringed paper attached to side of sentiment panel and then tweaked to give dimension
  • Scalloped rectangle die cut from silver mirri card
And a close up of the flourish/bauble etc

Over on the Simply Less Is More blog the theme for this week's Clean And Simple card is: STRIPES!!! Already some fab examples

Last evening saw us out with friends, to celebrate Graeme's retirement at the end of 2011 and my hubby's birthday. We picked what looked like a nice upmarket restaurant in a trendy part of town and picked our pals up on the way. Now to those of you unfamiliar with the area, Clifton is a lovely villagey place with gorgeous curving Regency crescents and narrow streets ......... and a major parking issue due to turning in to student land in more recent years. Imagine our surprise then, to be able to park only about two car lengths from the restaurant - lucky or what?!!! Walked in, restaurant looked great, Liz bumped in to the daughter of a friend of hers - YAY Melanie! We sat down and perused the menu - looked good, place looked fab but, boy was it COLD with a capital C - I offered a shilling for the meter! I don't recall ever having been so cold in a restaurant ...... which was reflected in the speed at which the food chilled too - oops. Dessert sounded fabulous so we decided to push the boat out as it was hubby's birthday ..... £5.25 for two mouthfuls of what could best be described (on reflection) as a chocolate mousse which hadn't set!! Have they not watched masterchef to know that it's all in the presentation!?!??!? Shame about the disappointing evening - I'm guessing we shan't be heading back there any time soon. It was, however, great to catch up with Liz and Graeme and to spend the evening with them. As it was so cold in the restaurant we left as soon as we could and headed back to our pals - to warm up, have a coffee and continue our evening for another couple of hours, so, all was not lost after all!

Happy Saturday

Pretty card Kathy in your most favourite colours lol. Shame about the restaurant, they are obviously trying to save some money, but on your experience they will go out of business pretty quick it seems.
Have a good day and enjoy the weekend and most of all stay warm.
hugs {brenda} xox

Such a great card Kathy. I love the bit of boa to sass it up. ;) Too bad about the accommodations. It LOOKS like a nice restaurant.
