TGIF - the weekend's almost here!

Wotcher peeps,

Hope you have plans for the weekend since it's almost here! I DO! I'm off to a Pan Pastels workshop in Kidderminster, with fellow crafting pal, Cherry. Had some news yesterday, the lady who runs the venue rang to say that Pan Pastels had been sending one of their tutors but were going to have to pull out - OH NO! Pat still intends to run the PP workshop but wanted to let everyone know that it wouldn't be the PP tutor .... did we still wish to attend? Hell YES!!!! So, we've just one more sleep till this workshop and I must be honest, I'm still quite excited.

Today I would like to share a PAN PASTEL FREE project with you .....

I set off with a piece of white card and a lot of newspaper (to save dying my table too!) and created the background below by covering the paper firstly with a coating of Distress stain in dried marigold. I then sprayed the following: Dylusions inks in Vibrant Turquoise and Bubblegum Pink and then filled in a couple of gaps with Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle and set aside to dry.

Once it was all nice and dry I selected a 13cm square panel for my card project and cut the other piece to slightly smaller than ATC size before mounting on to a black ATC blank.

Additional materials used:
  • Lavinia image and Paper Mania sentiment inked using Memento tuxedo black

And finally, the finished card ....

Additional materials used:
  • 13½ cm black card panel
  • Lavinia image inked using Memento tuxedo black and stamped four times
  • Paper Mania sentiment inked using Memento tuxedo black
I had fun making the above projects and hope you like today's projects, feel free to leave me a comment.

BUT, you would just know that I wouldn't leave those Pan Pastels alone for long wouldn't you? I found this fab video from Daniela Rogall on youtube where she used pan pastels and mica sheets ....

Materials used:
  • 5" x 7" scallop edged 300 gsm white card and matching envelope
  • Black card panel for matting
  • White card ......
  • Pan pastels: Violet, Violet tint and Magenta
  • Hairspray to set (guess what? Still haven't moved my fixative to some place within easy reach - DOH!)
  • Ink used: Memento tuxedo black and Brilliance lightning black
  • Images used (partials, masked off):  Paper Artsy, Tim Holtz and the Stampers Anonymous Crow in full on white card and cut out
  • I also found a use for one of the more useless of products I've ever bought - STICKY DOT adhesive - never personally found the product efficient to glue anything on a permanent basis but here's the thing ......... when randomly applied around a finger full of the dots, then sprinkled a TAPESTRY embossing powder and heated, they work pretty good! YAY - reeeeesult!
  • Mica sheets - de-laminated to thinner sheets and run through my Big Shot inside two embossing folders (script and Tim Holtz circles, to match the image) and then a tuxedo black pad wiped over the top - I used matte accents to attach to the card

And now for the Friday Funny and this week I got it off Pat .... thanks Pat!!! ENJOY it's slightly risque but I thought it humorous and hope you will too

While Peter was sunbathing naked at the beach in Jamaica. ..........for the sake of civility, and to keep it from getting sunburned, he had a hat over his private parts. A woman walks past and says, snickering, "If you were a gentleman you'd lift your hat."

He raised an eyebrow and replied, "If you were better looking it would lift itself."

Happy Friday and have a great weekend

That is such an effective technique Kathy. The finish looks like something from a Disney film/movie. Very dreamy.
