Welcome to September - nights are drawing in

Morning all,

My regular readers will know that, for me, Saturday mornings are usually given over to card making challenges and today is no different .....

Yesterday I set a challenge for the month of September over on the Card Makers group and it is to "Make a Christmas card" and on the Monthly Craft Challenge Tinz also set a September challenge of "SPARKLING" - it seemed like a great idea to combine these two, so here's my card.

Materials used:
  • C5 300 gsm white card and matching envelope
  • Two panels each of green and gold card (the gold card was originally gift packaging - how's that for recycling?)
  • Sentiment strip originally from a Kanban kit purchased several years ago from QVC
  • Sparkle 'n Sprinkle snowman image inked in Memento tuxedo black on to white card.
  • Martha Stewart "Poinsettia" corner punch from a PATP set
  • Distress Ink - evergreen bough used to colour the edges of the image panel
  • Alcohol markers to colour image
  • Liquitex iridescent medium used to colour body of snowman before liberally sprinkling crystal glamour dust
  • Snowflake punch used to cut three snowflakes from a sheet of double sided adhesive, once positioned, the top layer was peeled off and crystal glamour dust liberally applied - to give plenty of sparkle to the snowflakes.

And another challenge has been set for the month of September, by Debs, over on Craft Mad and Loving It and it's "Quotes from the movies"!

The weekly challenge on Simply Less Is More was unveiled at 08:00 and this week is a colour challenge .... the lovely Chrissie and Mandi have chosen the colour scheme PINK and BROWN for this week - fabulous examples on their blog too - why not pop over and check it out? Now I didn't get to play last week and need to pass my apologies to Chrissie and Mandi (being a regular - perhaps they even missed me!) and to all the entrants that I didn't get to visit either - hope to rectify that this week. Here's my entry - howzat for keen?

Materials used:
  • 12½ cm square 250 gsm white card and matching envelope
  • 11½ cm square white card panel stamped multiple times with the Tim Holtz checker stamp inked in Memento rich cocoa
  • 11 cm square white card panel
  • Circular mask taped in to place
  • Dark Room Door dotty background stamp inked with versamark ink before stamping in the masked circle
  • Pan Pastel permanent red tint applied using a cosmetic sponge and set with fixative
  • Imagination thistle image inked using Memento rich cocoa (don't you LOVE the way the pinkness of the spots changes colour but shows through the rich cocoa?)
  • Imagine That sentiment inked using Memento rich cocoa

Hope that all of my visitors will like this entry.

There's still time to enter the CASology challenge this week, until mid day tomorrow, which is to take their one word cue and make a Clean And Simple card - the single word this week is "RELAX"

That should give me some food for thought!

Have a great weekend everyone - Doctor Who's back on the telly tonight so I'm happy (though I still haven't taken to Matt Smith as The Doctor)!

Two lovely cards. I like your sparkly snowman. Great design and combination of checks and spot for the pink and brown card. I like the thistle image.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog

One of our tv stations start showing the Dr Who series over again. This meant I could catch up with the some episodes I had missed.
