Magnificent Monday

Morning all,

After a HUGE number of meals out lately the husband and I found ourselves with no dinner arrangements and, surprise surprise, not a huge appetite to go out to eat either!! Blimey, I EVEN turned down an offer to head in to Joann's armed with discount vouchers!! Can it be that I'm sickening for something?

Anyhoo, long story short, we went to Walmart and came out with ..... some coat hangers and some groceries instead!

Dinner? That turned out to be penne pasta and a carbonara sauce - which was perfectly fine but lifted by the cheddar bay biscuits (or BISQWITS as a certain Fox's panda calls them!) which were made by Mr K's own fair hand and were absolutely delicious! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Our pals, Wynneth and Tom and their son were planning to hit the Kennedy Space Centre and there was even a rocket launch scheduled so we were keeping an eye on their web site for any changes but no, the launch went ahead at 8:34 p.m. Now, we can see launches from our pool deck from about one minute after lift off so we headed out as soon as we saw it had launched and were treated to quite a view - it's definitely true that night launches are more spectacular so Wynneth and Tom and their son must have been treated to a really spectacular view as they were about 50 miles closer than we were!!!

Managed some light crafting yesterday. Wynneth and I both recently succumbed to a set of Hampton Arts cling mounted stamps for something ridiculous like $3.99 (+ tax) which contained the eye chart, the hand AND the measuring ruler - FABULOUS set so it just HAD to be done. The dotty image inked on the matting layer was from the dollar bin in Michael's or Joann's (can't remember which) and came with two other images!! YIKES - that was good value too!

Materials used:
  • 300 gsm white, scallop edged card and matching envelope
  • Black card panel, for matting
  • White card panel, for matting, coloured using Distress Inks, salty ocean, to tint and then Studiog dotty image inked using Hero Arts black dye ink
  • White card panel coloured using Distress Inks: picked raspberry and salty ocean
  • Water flicked, from fingers, on to panel and then blotted using kitchen roll
  • Hampton Arts eye chart inked using Memento sweet plum
  • Hampton Arts hand and ruler inked using Hero Arts black dye ink
  • Tim Holtz butterfly inked using Memento sweet plum directly on to base card
  • Alcohol markers used to colour image
  • Martha Stewart glue pen applied before sprinkling purple glitter and crystal glamour dust on to butterfly image
  • Tim Holtz sentiment inked using Hero Arts black dye ink

And then I made this ....

Materials used:
  • Black card panel previously decorated using a Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page set of punches
  • Grey card panel used to mat
  • White card panel coloured using Distress Inks: wild honey, barn door and frayed burlap
  • TPC Studio acorn cluster and sentiment inked using Hero Arts black dye ink

The card immediately above was for a challenge on the aunty's forum for the theme of "IN THE GARDEN" - where we are right now we have an oak tree which borders the drive and every time we head out we find the drive covered in acorns!! This was the inspiration for the card!

We were in possession of another dozen of so tree frogs again last evening, so much so that (when hitting the pool deck to check out the launch) we REALLY had to look where we were going!! Turfed three frogs out of the frogmobile yesterday too!!! Ribbit!

Happy Monday
