If it's Sunday it must be the Hard Rock Casino!

Hi folks,

What a start to our weekend? Went to leave the house yesterday morning and guess what we saw as we opened the car door?

Once we "rescued" this little chap (and no less than four of his friends!) we collected Wynneth and Tom in the "frogmobile" and headed off to Winter Garden Village and guess where we ended up? Yes, Joann's!! SURPRISE!

From the mall we headed off to the old part of Winter Garden which is so very quaint with lots of 1930's architecture, a fab yogurt shop (our first stop), a quilting shop (our 2nd stop!) and some fabulous trees full of hanging moss ....

Then we headed back via a Chinese buffet but we were so hungry that we forgot to photograph anything at all!!! Once we dropped Wynneth and Tom back at their place we headed  home and were greeted by ....... yep, ANOTHER one of those cute little frogs!!! There were others but they weren't so easy to photograph! We even had one appear on the windscreen whilst tooling along the I4 (like motorway) - it was at this point our car became the "frogmobile"!!

It's been a while since we've seen so many frogs!
So, there was just time for a little crafting before the season finale of Doctor Who! YAY!

Saturday and what's in store?

Morning all,

The Purple Princess is away from her desk yet again - this time it's the turn of Joann's at the Winter Garden Village! Photos to follow but ...... back to yesterday -

Wynneth and Mr Tom turned up, nice and early, in THE BEAST ....

Once we actually managed to get in to The Beast we headed off to Lakeland and visited the mighty Violettes and Diana (the owner) made us very welcome ..... and more than a little jealous with her tales of workshops with Sir Tim of Holtz next week in Orlando. We tried (slightly desperately) to persuade her to take us with her as gophers but, either we weren't her first volunteers or she was having none of it but we did extract a promise of photos! Hmmmm it'll just have to do!

Diana (the owner of Violettes) and Wynneth
There was much stash shopping too

Back to the Purple Palace (temporary) and unpacked the stash before heading off for dinner

Our chosen dinner venue!

Following our early dinner it was back to ours for some happy crafting .....

TGIF - today is Violettes Day!!!

Hi folks,

How are you all this bright sunny Friday? What? Not sunny with you? Sorry to hear that but it's 23c here already.

Yesterday I was busy playing with my new Inkadinkado Stamping Gear kit. I uploaded a review of my findings here too

Materials  used:
  • C5 white card and matching envelope
  • Inkadinkado stamping gear cog, acrylic block and image
  • Brilliance poppy and Hero Arts black ink
  • Imagine That sentiment stamp inked using Hero Arts black ink

Meeting up with Wynneth and Mr Tom again today and it's a big day for us today as we're off to the mighty Violette's today AND I have a full loyalty card to redeem so will be getting a $20 discount - Yee Haa! Then we're off to HobbyLobby whilst the boys head to Hobby Town - strange that they should be so similarly named and share the same parking lot too! Who cares? I have a 40% voucher for them too!

Yesterday we nipped to Posner Park as hubby wanted to look in Best Buy ..... am I going to complain? NO WAY? You know what else is at Posner? Well, let me tell you - that would be Michaels! So, armed with my 40% off one item voucher AND a 20% off everything voucher I hit the aisles running and came out with this little haul ........ for less than I would pay for a single set of Inkadinkado clear stamps in Hobbycraft! I am one happy bunny - again!

Hubby and I agreed that I should only be one hour so I was duly stood outside in 30c heat waiting at 3:05 - and was still there (Meltinggggggggggggggggg) at 3:15!! I know what he's like when he's in Best Buy, which is why (mostly) he goes in on his own! Still, I managed to take this lovely "cloud" pic whilst waiting.

And now for the Friday Funny which comes again this week, from Pat - thanks Pat - y'all enjoy!!!!

Thursday fuzzies!

Hi folks,

Hope you are having a good day today and that it's not too cold (or wet) for you! It's a pretty nice day here and we're out to lunch with neighbours, Len and Koreen, today - no idea where we'll end up but looking forward to catching up as it's been a while.

I've a few photos to share with you - look what we woke up to yesterday morning ...... fog!, guess this must mean  autumn's almost here then.

Went craft shopping with Wynneth on Tuesday evening and could hardly wait to start crafting though Wynneth deflected me as we spent more time chatting than crafting!!!
Materials used:
  • 12.5cm square, 250 gsm white card and matching envelope
  • 11 cm square Kraft card
  • 10.5 cm square white card distressed using a Tim Holtz blending tool and distress inks: scattered straw, wild honey, frayed burlap, barn door, aged mahogany
  • 7 Gypsies balloon and lamp images and Imagine That sentiment inked using Hero Arts black ink
Hope you like this card using some pretty new stash.

Last evening, we met up with Wynneth and Tom again and this time we tried a new restaurant (to them anyway), the Texas Roadhouse - mmmmm, hard to imagine but the steak was EVEN better than Manny's the night before!!!!

Made you feel hungry yet? Have a great Thursday everyone

Sending you all warm fuzzies!

Hi there peeps,

Warning - picture heavy post!!!!

Sorry for being AWOL - one of my pals has already expressed her disapproval about the lack of photos of our recent trip to the Blue Strawberry. I'm hoping to rectify that with this post.

Hubby and I enjoyed a lovely break in Essex visiting friends, Lauren and Alan and their family. On Saturday evening we had a table booked and, on arrival, it seemed only prudent to crack on with a glass of pink champagne each .... well, Lauren and I anyway!!!

So many choices and so little time! The food there is great and my spinach and feta tart was delish. For main  course I indulged in salmon and it was yummy - sadly, I regret to inform you that the camera came out on arrival but not again until dessert appeared - oooopsie! However, suffice it to say that we all had a lovely evening.

Hubby's dessert!
Lauren's dessert
Mine (mine, mine)!!!
Sunday we nipped in to a local garden centre for a rummage around and met BOBBY!! Isn't he adorable?

And in addition to our new friend, Bobby, check out these guys .... now I had terrible trouble persuading my camera to focus so I apologise in advance for the slight fuzziness - particularly on the green one.

Met up with pals Wynneth and Tom yesterday too - headed to Manny's where we all confessed to having REALLY great steaks! No pix - we just got on with eating them!

And home ... via Michaels, of course!!

Happy Wednesday - here's how my work desk looks THIS week!

Monday, 24 September 2012

What? Another week? Already?

What happened to the weekend?

I'm sure you've worked out, by now, that we've been away for the weekend - went to visit our pals in Essex, dined at the Blue Strawberry in Hatfield Peverel - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy! Check it out here. You'll be astonished (I'm sure!) to hear that we had an excellent time but, after an excellent Sunday lunch, it was time to leave and head off in to the wide blue yonder - that'll be the M25 then!. I'll post some pix just as soon as I can but it's not going to be today - sorry if you are salivating over what we might have had to eat!

In the meantime here's some crafting to share with you all. Remember when Lauren came to stay in early July? We did some journaling and I had bought a couple of £2.99 IKEA mirrors. I'm ashamed to say that mine remained the same from then right up until Friday when I started work on it again. It was NEARLY finished but just lacked a little "je ne sais quoi"!!!

Remember how it looked? NO? Me either, it was that long ago .... so here's a reminder of how it was left at the end of that weekend.

Right, so ....... armed with this I started by taking a mini clipboard

And covered it with tissue tape before inking up my Hero Arts foliage image with versamark ink ..... then applying magenta pan pastel which I set with fixative. Next I took my Tim Holtz blending tool (with the felt pad) and alcohol inks in pinks and metallic + some blending fluid and ... BINGO!!!

Elsewhere, I found my Paper Artsy krunchy wax paper flower that I had made whilst in Essex with Lauren (funny how we are such great crafting buddies - she MADE me do it ...... in the absence of the lovely Wynneth who would have loved to join us!) and here's how the mirror looks right now - still not totally sure it's finished - how about you lot? I'm thinking stamping to the right and left sides but ........ what sort of image is my dilemma, any ideas?

Happy Monday

Bit of a busy old day for me today

for me, so (sadly) not much time for crafting today.

Off to a restaurant this evening to dine with friends but hope to have some pix to share very soon.

Saturday is normally challenge day for me but I shan't have time - the lovely ladies over at the Simply Less Is More blog will be hosting a new challenge today (launched at 08:00) so why not pop over and check out what I will be up to - just as soon as I can reach my craft table! This week it's a bt of a choice .... you can choose to incorporate any THREE options from previous challenges! Ooo-er, spoilt for choice then. AND, great news (for me anyway), I was showCASed there too - for my foliage card - my first time too, I'm thrilled.

It's my brother's birthday on Monday so I need to get his card in the post or there'll be trouble! I often struggle with masculine cards and have, over the years, acquired a selection of male themed images so ..... as a keen motorcyclist in his youth!

Materials used:
  • 12cm square white, 250 gsm card and matching envelope
  • 11½ cm panel of SILVER mirri card
  • 11 cm panel of black card
  • Unknown image (it's unmounted rubber and long since separated from any packaging - if anyone knows please let me know) inked in Versafine onyx black on to white card
  • TPC Studio sentiment inked in Versafine onyx black on to white card and cut out
  • Two faux crystal "oil on water" gemstones to embellish with losing the masculine appearance of the card!
Have a great weekend everyone, whatever you have planned

It's that time of the week again

often referred to as THE WEEKEND though, if you don't work then, every day is like a weekend! WOO HOO! Anyway, enough of that, since the weekend starts here then I hope you all have plans.

Of course, yesterday saw the launch of a new Cute Card Thursday challenge which is "A DIFFERENT SHAPE" and has some lovely pieces from the design team to get us all thinking. Not sure I'll get the chance to play with this one but you just never know.

I'd also like to welcome another new follower, Anne-elise, hope you will find time to pop back soon.

Last night saw us out to dinner with my pal, Naomi, bet you can't guess where we went? Yup - you know me so well - RAJ's!! So, no pic of Raj's to share with you because I've already posted pix of Raj's on more than one occasion however, my dear friend, Naomi, does live somewhere rather nice - down a sleepy little lane off a pretty busy main road ..... but look -

Isn't this a nice view to step outside your front door and see?

Some of my readers may remember my pal, Lauren, giving me some homework in the form of a tissue box cover ..... I was so disappointed with the initial covering of Kaisercraft gold acrylic paint that I sort of lost heart in it. It would have been sooooooooooooo fabulous if only my Inka Gold hadn't dried out!

Materials used:
  • Tim Holtz tissue tape
  • Dylusions London Blue ink spray "smooshed" about using a blending tool (with foam pad)
  • Mod Podge to glue down any errant corners as tissue tape is pretty low tack
And then some phthalo blue pan pastel and some modelling paste

And after a bit more work ....... with Diarylide yellow and violet pan pastels, Hero Arts foliage too

What do you think? Is it NEARLY finished?

And now for the Friday Funny which, this week, comes courtesy of Pat Gilson once more - thanks Pat. I think this one will speak for itself - ENJOY!

Have a great day
