It's another Rudolph Day today AND don't forget the Friday Funny

Morning all,

After a hard days shopping with pal Sally on Wednesday it seemed that Thursday was destined to be way quieter! Not a bad thing .... Sally and I headed to The Loop and hit a good number of stores, sadly, neither of us got to buy much though Sally did try a few things on. We lunched at Panera bread, which was very nice and not overly expensive either. Hubby in my absence? Well, he availed himself of a $5 footlong at Subway ..... and ate the whole thing! Needless to say, dinner was a much lighter meal! Anyway, back to yesterday, a lazy day and meeting friends for an early dinner - perfect.

Sketch Saturday has a challenge using a sketch - I had a new set of Christmas stamps so ... I was thinking Rudolph Day ...... Sarn has been setting a monthly R.D. challenge on the 25th of each month and this requires that participants submit two Christmas cards in order to be eligible so here is the first ....

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 300gsm, scallop edged card blank and matching sized envelope
  • I piece of 3½" x 5" via brick card from the Paper Cut (I had to cut the border creatively and hide the  join behind my image/sentiment panel
  • Off cuts of black and white card for matting and layering
  • Fiskars sentiment panel and snowflakes from the clear stamp set "Twas the night before Christmas" stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Glitter "drops" to embellish and Stardust stickles to highlight

And here's the sketch from which I made my card

I'll also be entering this card for the Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge April extra (now that's a mouthful!). One down, one to go for the Rudolph Day challenge at Stamping for Pleasure, and here is the second ...

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 300 gsm, scallop edged card and matching sized envelope
  • Distress Ink in festive berries swiped across card and also used to ink my Kaisercraft "chequer" image
  • Hampton Art sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Fiskars Christmas bauble stamped using Versafine onyx black ink on to the card and also a second time on to white card and cut out before adding to card (over first impression) using dimensional foam adhesive (just on the central part to give a curve to the image)
  • EK Success red "droplets" to embellish
  • Stardust stickles to highlight the bauble

This card was for the current sketch challenge over at Stamplorations, see the sketch below

The Stamploration Sketch
Woke up yesterday, to this - so not what we expected!!! Mist bordering on FOG! You SHOULD be able to see another row of trees!

And now for the Friday Funny, this week coming to you courtesy of Marsha - thanks mate - ENJOY

When we get older we think differently, don't we? This letter was sent to the Kiwanis Club after they sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An elderly lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize and was writing to say thank you. This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward to anyone you know who might need a lift today.

Dear Kiwanis Club Members:

God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Sprenger Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away.. I am all alone now and it's nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady. My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio, but before I received one, she would never let me listen to hers, even when she was napping.

The other day her radio fell off the night stand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was awful and she was in tears.

Her distress over the broken radio touched me and I knew this was God's way of answering my prayers. She asked if she could listen to mine, and I told her to kiss my ass.

Thank you for that opportunity.

Sincerely,

Agnes

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Kathy, Methinks your pool pic looks like a Fla. scene & yep, Fla gets fog too. This picture made me homesick {almost..not quite! Glad to not have a pool to care for :-) }. Loved each of these cards. So clean & classy. I'm loving the layout and looks like some nifty new stamps. I think #2 was my fav...that angled design is very effective. TFS & Hugs
