Welcome to Friday - the weekend starts here!!!

Morning,

It's that time of the week when you can actually start to look forward to the weekend - that said, we have nothing planned! For the last two weekends I have been privileged to have the company of fellow (TALENTED) crafters visiting, first Cherry and then Wynneth and her talented dad, Andy (sorry, no blog link for him) - had an absolute blast both weekends and can't wait for the next planned meet - pal, ScrappyJacky in September.

Before I go any further, I should welcome my new follower, Lesley, thanks for your comment and for following me - hope you will stop by again from time to time too.

I get easily sidetracked whilst crafting - I never realised this until I started to add up the number of times I went looking for an image to make a project and then ended up making something else entirely - ever had this  happen to you?

Whilst I was rummaging recently I found this cute little Inkadinkado ducky and decided I wanted to use him to make a second entry for the "ANIMAL" challenge over at Simply Less Is More. As a result of the crafting last weekend I decided (since they were fresh in my mind) that I wanted to use Inktense pencils and off I went .... if you read my post of Monday then you will already know that it was not without trauma and after three stamped images and various degrees of success with colouring I achieved one that I was reasonably happy with ..... and here he is ... isn't he adorable (disregarding the dodgy colouring!) .... whilst this was a WIP (Work In Progress) I allowed myself to get sidetracked and made both the card and ATC featured in my post of Wednesday ... see what I mean?

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of blue card cut to ATC size
  • TCW stencil through which I applied Distress Ink in old paper (recently rediscovered and now loved) using a Tim Holtz blending tool
  • Inkadinkado duck image stamped on to watercolour paper using Ranger Archival sienna ink
  • Inktense pencils, paintbrush and water used to colour him .... or is it her? Given those eyelashes!
  • Black card for matting using my perfect layering ruler (1/16") and a craft knife
  • Inkadinkado sentiment (from the same set as the ducky) stamped on to the ATC background using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Spray and Shine used to protect my "art" in case of rain whilst "in transit"!

So, he never did make it as a card but he's pretty cute as an ATC!

The Male Room launched its new challenge on Wednesday opting for a theme of: "STARS" and there's still the "JAVA" challenge over at CASology and, at Addicted to Stamps and More their new challenge (launched Wednesday) is: "CAS" ... so which of these challenges am I sharing with you?

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • 14cm square white card panel (x 2)
  • Black card for matting at 1/16" using perfect layering ruler and craft knife (x 2)
  • Creative Expressions "tyre track" and Stamplorations "coffee stain" stamped using Memento London Fog ink
  • Creative Expressions star image stamped using Versamark ink and a black sparkle embossing powder before heat embossing
  • Paper Artsy "splatter" image repeated randomly using Versacolour silver ink
  • Creative Expressions sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink

You're not wrong .... I will be entering this for the STARS and CAS challenges at the blogs linked above.

And a close up of the sparkly embossing .... and below that, the inside of the card and the envelope too

And the co-ordinating insert and envelope

I am LOVING this star image and already wondering what it would look like in purple ... or red ...... or? Rest assured, I'm pretty sure you will be seeing this stamp set again! - it's called "URBAN BEAT"

I made a late sketch card entry for the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge on Wednesday and then thought ... that would be a great idea to send as a thank you card to each of my pals who popped round for dinner on Tuesday (after all, they both came armed with wine and even chocolates) so .... I thought I would make another AND this one I would even enter for the JAVA challenge at CASology. Of course I COULD have entered both but they both feature the same images and sentiments as well as the same colours so ... kind of pointless - two cards the same but just a little different (and therefore unique), missed my first one? See it here

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250 gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • 13½cm square white card and snippets for image and sentiment
  • Rust and Kraft card for matting
  • Fiskars coffee bean image and sentiment stamped using Memento rich cocoa ink
  • Stamping Bella (Javabelles) image stamped on to white card using Memento rich cocoa and then matted on to both Kraft and rust card

Having read the above and in case you are curious .... a bottle of red and some lovely chox and a bottle of bubbly arrived with my pals on Tuesday evening, how kind? - how spoiled was I? Thanks ladies - cards are now in the post!

And now for the Friday Funny, courtesy of friends Liz and Graeme, some are a little  risqué or not quite P.C. so if easily offended feel free not to read on ..... you've been warned .... to the rest of you - ENJOY!

Paddy decides to take up boxing and goes for the required medical. A few days later the doctor ‘phones and says “Paddy, you realise you’ve got sugar diabetes.”
Paddy says, “Nice one, when do I fight him?”

It was hard getting over my addiction to the Hokey Cokey. But I’ve turned myself around and that’s what it’s all about.

An Irishmen wanting to become a Priest went to see the Bishop who said "You must answer 3 questions on the Bible".
"1st - Who was born in a stable?"
"Red Rum" he replied
"2nd - What do you think of Damascus   ?"
"
It kills 99% of all germs" he replied.
"3rd - What happened when the disciples went to Mount Olive?"
"That’s easy" he said "Popeye kicked the **** out of them!!"

Little boy gets home from school and says "Dad, I've got a part in the school play as a man who's been married for 25 years."
His Dad replies "Never mind Son. Maybe next time you'll get a speaking part!!"

Two Irishmen looking through a mail order catalogue.
Paddy says "Look at these gorgeous women! The prices are reasonable too."
Mick agrees "I'm ordering one right now"
3 weeks later Paddy says to Mick "Has your woman turned up yet?"
"No" said Mick "but it shouldn't be long now though. Her clothes arrived yesterday!!

In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated, and the wife has gone off to her mother.

Need another shot of funny? Check out Hettiecraft's F.F. here

Have a fab weekend - see you tomorrow for some challenges
