Monday morning

Morning readers,
Good weekend? Well, aside from the cacophony which woke us yesterday (long story short - power cut/multiple burglar alarm chorus!) we had a pretty good weekend. Hope yours was at least as good!

We DID have a downside ..... we've been suffering with the World's BIGGEST spider - so big we'd called him Boris! My hubby's a bit phobic so we decided that something had to be done ... So, yesterday, prepared (like little boy sprouts!) we marched on the kitchen with our double sided tape and vacuum - there was no way Boris was getting away from us. Out came the washing machine (his last known hidey hole) - NOTHING! We cleaned up the inevitable detritus of dust and cobwebs that builds up behind these appliances, we even tipped it at a jaunty angle for a good look underneath - still nothing! Hmmmm, on to the dishwasher - NADA, the oven - ZIP. Our last resort was the fridge .... it was like "Where's Waldo/Boris"? Nope, Boris wasn't hiding there either ... know what? We've had to rename our washing machine COLDITZ because Boris had obviously tunnelled out whilst we were sleeping and we never heard a thing!

And here's another thing ..... autumn's on it's way - I've lost count of how many woodlice I've evicted from the building too! What with that and the night's drawing in - it'll soon be Christmas - sorry! lol
So, the continuing saga of the new Doctor - are you for or against Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor or is it the scripts which are still pretty confusing? I know it's been a while since we had a new Doctor but I don't recall so many introductory twists for Christopher Eccleston/David Tennant or Matt Smith. On the whole though, I THINK I like him as the Doctor .... I DID like the reference to Fantastic Voyage - anyone actually REMEMBER that film? Starring Raquel Welch? There was another movie that shrank people too - Dennis Quaid? but I can't recall the title - anyone?
And the peeps over at CAS on Sundays have launched their new challenge, which is: Black White and just ONE other colour - cool, huh? Doesn't everyone love monochrome? Just every now and again aren't you tempted to pop a splash of colour in? Well, here's the perfect opportunity! I just have to hope my "splash of colour" isn't deemed to be too much!

I went with black, white and BLUE! but you probably spotted that, didn't you?

Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250 gsm card blank and matching sized envelope
  • White card panels at 14 and 14½ cm
  • Taking my Dutchdoobadoo vanishing circles stencil I applied Distress Ink in tumbled glass using a Color Box stylus tool with a foam blending head
  • Paper Artsy "splatter" and "grungey lines" over stamped using tumbled glass too
  • Penny Black image and Imagine That sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • My matting panel of white card was coloured with the stylus tool and tumbled glass too
  • The whole project (including the inside and the envelope) was treated to a quick spray of Spray and Shine - to protect it in the post and BINGO - it's ready to roll.

And here's the insert and envelope, to match

And then on to an ATC because I hadn't put my Penny Black ballerina cat image away (SHOCKING!) - strangely enough, it's an almost perfect fit for an ATC!
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of white card cut to ATC size
  • Penny Black image stamped on to the white card using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Alcohol markers to colour the image
  • Using a Color Box stylus tool and a foam blending head I coloured the background using Distress Inks in squeezed lemonade and peacock feathers
  • Imagine That sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • I used a wink of Stella silver glue pen and stardust stickles to highlight
A Little Bit Crafty have launched a new challenge entitled "DISTRESS IT" - might have a go later. There's also a Christmas challenge to "USE A GIFT" over at Merry Monday and a new sketch challenge launched ... over at the Happy Little Stampers blog - it will be a monthly challenge and my, what a fabulous challenge it is too. This site is affiliated with the crafting forum also called Happy Little Stampers which you can see and/or join here, hope to see you at one or the other very soon!

NEWS: the talented artist (Clare) who has been running the summer school's ME TIME MESSAGES has had a number of her stamp designs turned in to stamp sets by Paper Artsy - I'm sure you'll all join me in CONGRATULATING her.

Have a fabulous Monday

That'll be Innerspace Your Purpleness. Crikey! That takes me back... ;oD

Smashing card too. Loving the blue :oD

I do hope Boris has seen the light and moved on to pastures new. Spiders can be tricksy blighters but in general they like a quiet life so I suspect all the activity may have sent him elsewhere (lets hope so anyway).

Have a great week.

Perhaps Boris knew you were coming for him Kathy, and did a runner. I hope he doesn't come back. I think your challenge card is super - you haven't overdone the colour as it's not shouting out. As for the cute ballerina, she looks great! Good start to the week.

Morning Kathy

Hope you've recovered from the stress of an early morning wake-up call and the attempt on Boris's life.

Great CAS LIM card and sweet little ATC.

Hugs, Sarn xxx

Oh dear ! Boris's matey came to live in our downstairs cloakroom, the gallant 'Sir Andy' came to rescue and saved us from his evil tricksy ness - I'd tried spraying him with air freshened, but that didn't stop him. Hope Boris has packed his bags and left permanently.

I love your get well card, that subtle touch of blue is just perfect and what a great stamped image. Love that cute ATC, such a sweet kitty image.

What wonderful and exciting news about Clare, well deserved too, her work is fabulous.
