Welcome to the start of another week

Morning all

I'd like to welcome my latest follower, Marina, thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you here again soon.
My Oh My! What a day and what an evening?! It's good to keep things varied - keeps us on our toes!!!
Afternoon:- phone rang, my neighbour had come home only to find she couldn't get in to her house. Hubby went over and had a look but it was beyond him - it wasn't the lock but the mechanisms that drop in to the door frames as you lock the door ..... cue visit to ours to access t'internet for her to check her insurance policy and arrange for a door specialist emergency call out. LUCKILY (for her) there was someone in the area and she only had to wait at ours for half an hour - long enough for a comfort break and a cuppa! A short while (and a sizeable bill) later and she was safely back in the house. What could she have done differently? Well - we figured moving was always going to be more expensive than the repair!!! - so that'll be nothing then!! We're guessing she'll be effecting a more permanent repair today!
Evening:- We were at the surrogates last evening, to celebrate surrogate daughter #2 and my hubby's birthdays (they are just days apart). We were going to try a relatively new Indian takeout and, of course, we got to meet their new dog, Riddick, a black lab of about one year old - bit of a sweetie. Indian was a TRIUMPH and Riddick extremely well behaved considering this was only his second day in his new home - check him out!

Managed to squeeze a little crafting in - you might have known I would ....

I omitted to buy my hubby a Valentine's giftie (because we don't usually exchange gifts) and he bought me a gift this year - wouldn't you just know it!!! Anyhoo, I was having a bit of a rummage and came across two coasters .... these were obviously marketing projects that we had received at some point and I had taken out the inserts keeping the blanks .... in case they came in handy! Well, they did! I've uploaded both of the photos I took although there is only one coaster .... one used flash so you get the reflection but is the better colour representation and the other shows the whole coaster but (without flash) looks less clear

Materials used:
  • Coaster blank
  • Black card snippet die cut to fit the coaster blank
  • White card snippet die cut slightly smaller
  • Distress Ink in festive berries applied to the white card using a Tim Holtz blending tool and foam pad
  • Kaisercraft "distress" image stamped using the festive berries ink and Paper Artsy "splatter" image stamped using Distress Ink in picked raspberry
  • We R Memory Keepers Plane image and Inkadinkado letters stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to protect the water based inks once in the coaster

He liked it and completely forgave my lapse .... what did I get? A pack of five "MaltEASTER" bunnies - I was happy too!

I'll be entering my coaster for the following challenges:
  1. Scribble and Stamp - "Always Anything Goes"
  2. Anything but cards - "Friendship" - my hubby's also my bestest BESTEST friend!

My creativity didn't stop there either ... well, I then HAD to use the other blank and make myself one - didn't I?

Materials used:
  • Coaster blank
  • Black card snippet die cut to fit the coaster blank
  • White card snippet die cut slightly smaller
  • Distress Ink shaded lilac applied to the white card using a Tim Holtz blender and foam pad
  • IndigoBlu chevron image stamped using the shaded lilac ink
  • Inkadinkado alphabet stamped using Versafine imperial purple
  • Stamplorations "chevrons" and Paper Artsy "splatter" images stamped using Memento grape jelly
  • Hero Arts Star image stamped using Hero Arts neon pink
  • Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to protect the water based colours

I'll be entering the above project for the following challenges:
  1. Crafty Calendar - "Anything Goes"
  2. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - "Snippets challenge" - 2nd entry

And then it was on to a card .....

My card

A close up to show the embossing sparkle medium

And the co-ordinating insert and envelope
Materials used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • 13½cm square white card panel (x2 including the insert)
  • A gash panel of card die cut with a circle
  • Low tack tape to hold my "mask" in place
  • Distress Inks in tumbled glass and salty ocean applied using a Tim Holtz blending tool and foam pad
  • Kaisercraft "distress" image and Paper Artsy "splatter" image stamped using the salty ocean ink
  • The mask was then replaced, Crafters Companion Spray and Shine added - to protect the water based ink
  • I then replaced my homemade mask and placed a TCW stencil over the top and applied Imagination Crafts clear Sparkle medium through stencil with a plastic spatula
  • CAS-ual Fridays sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival cobalt blue ink
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Happy Little Stampers Monthly challenge - "Embossing"
  2. Addicted to CAS - challenge #57 "MASK"
  3. Happy Little Stampers - "Sketch challenge"
Turned out to be quite an eventful but creative day all in all!

Morning. You HAVE had an eventful weekend then haven't you. Riddick IS adorable in the extreme. What a handsome boy he is. I wish him every happiness in his new home.

Love your card. Those little splatters round the edge are just lovely.

Glad to hear your neighbour was repatriated without too much of a wait. What a pain!

Have a great week.

Wow - I'm exhausted now Kathy - what a day! Riddick is gorgeous and what a pickle for your neighbour. I'd never thought about that happening, sigh.

LOVE your coasters - what a clever idea! Just shows, never throw anything away that just might come in handy at some point. Lovely designs too!

But that beautiful blue shimmery and glitzy card with my FAVOURITE flower on it steals the show for me mate!

Riddick looks cute. I hope he is happy in his new home.

Great idea to repurpose those coasters Kathy, and you have one each! I love the daisy image, they are my fav. flowers - where did you get that one please?

Lesley, the coneflower was part of a clear stamp set by Clearly Inspired and acquired a number of years ago in FLorida

Not sure where you might source them in Ireland - you could try e-Bay
