Welcome to the start of the weekend and the Friday Funny

Morning all

We've had some really unpleasant weather since my day as a tourist earlier in the week .... in fact, the best thing for it was to simply stay in and craft!!! So .... today I am happy to share the mark II for the challenge over at The Male Room .... even remembered to make it MASCULINE this time (see yesterday's post if this makes no sense to you!) ... be warned this post is a little photo heavy again (sorry!) so grab that coffee and draw up a chair! ........

My card

And a close up to show the newsprint

My co-ordinating insert and envelope

Materials  used:
  • 15cm square white, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • 2 x 13½cm square white card  panels for card front and insert
  • Snippets of white card for image panels
  • Blue card for matting
  • Darcie's newsprint image stamped using Ranger Archival watering can ink
  • Stampers Anonymous circles image stamped using Versamark ink and then heat embossed using clear embossing powder
  • Distress Inks in festive berries and rusty hinge applied to the image panel and then buffed, to remove excess ink from the embossed image
  • Inkylicious reindeer and sleigh and the sentiment stamped using Memento tuxedo black and Paris dusk inks
  • Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to protect the water based inks

I used the sketch (see below) for CASe this Sketch challenge but then realised that their current challenge finished on Thursday 20th - i.e. YESTERDAY!!! (DOH!). Thanks for an inspirational sketch though peeps - I think I have made three cards using it!

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:
  1. The Male Room - challenge No. 17 - USE NEWSPRINT ... I'm sure this looks like a man's card!!! albeit a single man's card! I already have someone in mind for it!
  2. Three Muses - 19th August challenge - BACKGROUNDS WITH TEXTS
  3. Crafting by Designs - August challenge - GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS
  4. Inky Impressions - challenge No. 272 - CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST
  5. Addicted to Rubber Stamps and More - challenge No. 158 - HOLIDAY
  6. Friday Mashup - challenge No. 222 - CREATE A BIRTHDAY CARD or USE ANY FAVE TECHNIQUE or BOTH .... I went with a fave technique and used a variation on the Joseph's Coat Technique which I am currently loving!

And the fab sketch I used from the lovely peeps over at CASe this sketch, mind you, there will probably be another along this morning!

Whilst I had the newsprint and circles images out along with the red distress inks ..... I just thought I would run up a couple of ATC's, they'll come in handy with my ATC swap buddies!

Materials used:

  • ATC blanks
  • Snippets of white card
  • Darcie's newsprint image stamped using Ranger Archival watering can ink
  • Impression Obsessions splatter stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Distress Ink in festive berries applied over the images using a Tim Holtz mini blending tool and foam pad
  • Stampers Anonymous circles image stamped using Versamark ink and then Heat It up clear embossing powder sprinkled over, the excess returned to the pot and the image heat embossed
  • Once cool I applied Distress Inks in forest moss and pine needles over the images before buffing the ink off the embossed areas
  • Sparkle mod podge brushed over, to seal and protect the water based inks and to add an interesting sparkle too
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment and frame stamped using Distress Ink in festive berries and Memento tuxedo black inks

And now for the last of the Shaun's and sights of Bristol .... we had a bit of a marathon on Monday and caught up with no fewer than EIGHT, and a TARDIS! (which, for the non WHOvians, stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space!!!)

Willow (pattern) Shaun, located outside of the St Mary Redcliffe Church

St Mary Redcliffe Church
And, as we waited at traffic lights at Cabot Circus - my eyes wandered left and spotted
these Shaun's just in the shop window!

Hope you've enjoyed the day trip around Bristol again, we've still loads more to photograph but less than two weeks left now before they are removed from public view and auctioned off for charity. That said, we might yet manage more ......... watch this space!

And now for the Friday Funny, brought to us this week courtesy of a new contributor, Shirley (aka Squirrel) - thanks. Always good to have a new contributor, you're in the draw Shirley.

It's short, to the point and CLEAN! enjoy!!!

It's only a short one hun, but it makes me giggle every time

Q:  What do you call a French man wearing sandals?

A:  Phillipe Phellop

Oh I do like this one - certainly more masculine in feel. Love the bold, graphic look and the way the newsprint comes through the dots. Great work. Thanks so much for playing along with The Male Room, and I'm sorry to be late commenting! xx
