Good Morning peeps - autumn's really with us!

Morning,

I say Autumn's really with us because of a number of things .... foggy mornings, having to de-mist the car before starting morning journeys, daddy long legs, an increase in spiders and a reluctance to get out of bed because it's starting to feel chilly in the mornings, yes, it's here!

I even lit the fire yesterday, albeit just to check it worked ... ready for winter but ... it was nice and cosy for a few minutes!

Fortunately, so far, the mists have lifted by 9-10:00 so it hasn't really interfered with our plans - YET! Hubs went off to the flying field and, for the first time this season, took both wellies and gloves with him! Me? I stayed home and crafted ..... though in deference to domesticity I DID put some washing on so I could craft guilt free! What started as simply an autumnal project took on a bit of a life of its own and became thoroughly mixed media ....... see my card below and then scroll further down for how I made it!, then you'll see what I mean by "took on a life of its own"!

My card

See the dimension

Materials used:

  • 5" x 7" white, 300gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Snippets of water colour card (300gsm), white card, black card and chocolate glitter card (by DCWV)
  • Tim Holtz sun ray embossing folder
  • EK Success leaf punch
  • Petaluma maple leaf wood mounted rubber stamp
  • Prescious Remembrance Shop sentiment
  • Brusho crystals: dark brown, scarlet and yellow and a water spritzer
  • Distress Stains: tarnished brass and dried Marigold
  • TCW, Memory Box and Dutchdoobadoo stencils
  • Pan Pastel in bronze applied with cut and dry foam
  • Inks: Versamark dazzle, Memento Rich cocoa
  • Liquitex gloss gel medium, applied with a spatula
  • Dimensional foam tape
  • Pro Marker in caramel, to edge the small punched leaves and the image panel
  • Perfect Layering rulers and a craft knife

Smooshing of the brushos and then stencilling with the distress stains

Then run through my Big Shot inside a Tim Holtz embossing folder

Brushos and distress stains used

Versamark ink dragged over raised parts before applying pan pastel

Small leaves punched, distress stain applied and then edged using a pro marker

Having stamped my maple leaf I applied gloss gel medium through a stencil with my plastic spatula

I stamped my maple leaf on to my image panel - to save me fussy cutting the gel medium image

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. WeLove2Create (pan pastels) - challenge No. 20 - ANYTHING (mixed media) GOES
  2. Simply Create Too - challenge No. 95 - AUTUMN SPLENDOUR
  3. Fussy and Fancy - challenge No. 149 - AUTUMN COLOURS
  4. Gem of a challenge - challenge No. 145 - AUTUMN
  5. That Craft Place - September 27th - ANYTHING (mixed media) GOES
Now, I'll leave you with this ... have you EVER put something new/treasured and BLACK in the wash and realised you either washed something fluffy last time or that someone left a tissue in a pocket? If you have then you can relate when I say "HOW ANNOYING IS IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS?" and why is it that you only realise when you take out your now fluffy (previously pristine and) black item out of the wash? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Nothing for it but to wash it again! Double Grrrrrrr!

It's a stunning card Kathy. Great colours.I really enjoyed seeing how it evolved. Thanks for sharing.

You describe autumn perfectly. I love the autumn colours but that's about it. I like spring best when everything is fresh and green and good weather is on the way. Have a lovely day. Barbxx

Sorry to hear about the black trouser incident. That is SO annoying and I'm sure we've ALL been there at some point.
