Hello readers .... it's ANOTHER challenge post from me ...

Hey there,

How's your weekend coming along?

I'd like to welcome new follower, Deb Bradley .. couldn't see a blog for you but, if you'd like to let me know your blog address then I'd be happy to post a link.

Yesterday we FINALLY got our home "office" carpet fitted .... we've only had the carpet since September! Admittedly we WERE away for a while and then there was Christmas and then it was my cousin coming to stay  all of which served to delay the commencement of this decorating, that and the fact we both hate both the process and the upheaval! However, we can FINALLY start putting furniture back in to the room though we can't complete the exercise yet, as we've new furniture due on Monday. We've been advised that this furniture will be delivered palletised! - only one problem  I can see with that ..... we DON'T HAVE A FORKLIFT, it'll be an interesting day on Monday - watch this space! If it's that bad .. there WILL be pix!

Anyhoo, Saturday's are normally my day to fit in a few challenges, so on to the crafting - here's make #1 ... a humorous birthday card (IMHO) and suitable for a guy ... the sentiment I chose came as two stamps, the first says "So what you're getting older, all is not lost" and the second says "Misplaced maybe, but not lost"!!! I LIKE this sentiment and have now reached an age where it's sadly become all too appropriate!!!

My card
The front of my envelope and inside of my card
The reverse of my envelope and the front and reverse of my card
Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 350gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
  • Snippets of card in white and navy for my image panel and matting
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 9 x 13½cm
  • Two pieces of navy card cut to mat the above panels with a 1.6mm border
  • Using an egg shaped sponge I applied Distress Inks in tumbled glass and salty ocean to the white card snippet, sponging salty ocean through  the TCW distress lines and random squares stencils and then adding blueprint sketch through the That's Crafty "Dinky" arrow stencil
  • Close to my Heart "numbers" image stamped using Memento Bahama blue ink
  • Handprints "pocket watch" image and Sparkle 'n Sprinkle sentiments stamped using Memento Paris dusk ink
  • Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to the image panel to seal the water based inks
  • Once the card was assembled I stamped the High Hopes birthday greeting using Memento Paris dusk ink

Materials laid out so you can see them

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Cardz4Guyz - challenge No. 109 - CREATE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND
  2. That's Crafty - March 4th challenge - STENCILS and MASKS
  3. Crafty Galz Corner - challenge No. 61 - ALL ABOUT THE BOYS

My card
And a close up of the glitter and texture of the glass bead glitter gel

Two totally splendid cards mrs k, love them both. Great idea to add the pics of materials/tools used, very helpful. That is a great sentiment you used on the blue card and those juicy citrus colours made my mouth water.

Good on dealing with the palletised furniture on Monday then LOL. So good to hear the refurbishment of your new office has moved along so well, bet you can't wait to move in and get settled.
