Welcome to the last Wednesday in November ....

Morning all

The LAST Wednesday in November - crumbs, where IS the time going? It hardly seems like yesterday I was at the Happy Little Stampers crafting retreat (run by the lovely Kylie ... safe journey home btw) and yet I've already been home three days! It was so great to meet up with friends, make some new ones AND craft ... what a treat!

I made a good number of cards or card fronts whilst at the retreat and have a couple to share with you today, sadly, some of the items were borrowed so I don't have my usual pix of materials, backs etc - hope you will forgive me!

This was made for Kylie, our organiser at the weekend
And a better view of the image panel
Materials used:
  • White C5, 300gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • White card cut to fit, for my image panel
  • Washi tape used to mask off the shape ...... I really SHOULD have positioned it AT the bottom rather than just above ... as I inked over but, there are NO MISTAKES IN ART so I quickly decided to make the same mistake the whole way across the bottom of the card panel and then use it to "frame" my sentiment!
  • Distress Inks: tumbled glass, salty ocean and stormy sky applied using a Tim Holtz mini blender and foam pad.
  • Water flicked from my fingers, allowed to develop and then the excess moisture blotted with paper towel
  • Imagination Crafts stencil placed in line the top washi tape and salty ocean Distress Ink applied through it then, without re-inking I randomly stencilled the Tim Holtz number stencil (set #13)
  • Happy Little Stampers sentiment (Doodled flowers set) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Distress Ink in salty ocean used to edge the card panel which I then adhered to my base card using strips of dimensional foam tape

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Aloha Friday - challenge No. 108 - THANKS
  2. QKR Stampede - challenge No. 271 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Crafty Friends - challenge No. 71 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 158 - MONOCHROME
And I also made this .. using a technique from Day 2 of the craft retreat ...

Materials used:
  • White A2 "tent fold", 300gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Water colour panel
  • Black card for matting both the image panel and the sentiment panel
  • Tim Holtz stencil (from set #13) placed over the watercolour panel, turquoise brusho water colour crystals sprinkled over and then spritzed with water before removing the stencil
  • Happy Little Stampers "doodled flowers" sentiment stamped on to white card using Memento tuxedo black and cut in to a banner end before matting on to black card
  • Turquoise glitter droplets added to the sentiment banner
I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 55 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Through The Craft Room Door - November 28th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Crafty Sentiments - November 28th challenge - ANYTHING GOES

Welcome to the start of another week

Morning peeps,

Been away for the weekend, to the second Annual Happy Little Stampers retreat in Swindon. Truthfully, I'm not sure if it counts as the second or the third as Kylie did just one last year (which I attended) but offered two this year, with the other being two weeks ago, in Manchester! Either way, a great time was had by all.

Kylie set a couple of challenges, one was to produce an ATC with a Christmas theme, no problemo!

My ATC
And side on - to show the "wobbler" mechanism
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in red and white
  • After attaching (and trimming) the red card to the ATC blank I stamped the Precious Remembrance Shop (Sketchy Christmas) scribble image around the outer edge of the red layer using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • On the white layer I applied lucky clover Distress Ink through a Stampers Anonymous stencil (Christmas words from the mini stencil set ?) using a mini blending tool and then lightly coloured the background area
  • Using mowed lawn ink and the spotty stencil from the same set I inked the spots randomly on the ATC
  • Using Distress Oxide in antique linen I randomly stencilled the music stencil (again, from the same set) - not expecting it to show but to give it a "texture" and colour variation once dry.
  • A quick application of Crafters Companion ensured the water based inks would be waterproof but, on reflection I SHOULD have done this AFTER the next step as the ink would NOT dry!
  • Using the Precious Remembrance Shop (sketchy Christmas) sentiment I stamped using Versafine onyx black which, as stated, didn't dry so ..... I sprinkled clear embossing powder, shook off the excess and heat set - job done!
  • On a snippet of 300gsm white card I stamped and die cut my MFT Santa and coloured using Polychomos pencils, blending with Sansodor and a paper stump and highlighting with a Kaisercraft black glitter gel pen and stardust stickles
  • Once everything was dry I attached a Hampton Arts "wobbler" and positioned Santa on to my ATC

This little chap won me a prize at the retreat and the organiser asked if she could take him home with her! YAY!, hope you all like him too

I'll also be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Lil Patch of Crafty Friends - challenge No. 70 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - challenge NO. 309/310 - USE SNIPPETS
  3. Delicious Doodles - November 1st challenge - TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLOURS
  4. Kraftin' Kimmie - challenge No. 409 - CHRISTMAS

The second was a Christmas card, again ... not really a problem at this time of year AND with recent stash acquisition ...

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 300gsm, card and matching sized envelope

  • Precious Remembrance Shop (Sketchy Christmas) scribble stamped using Memento London Fog (for the snow)
  • MFT elf (Santa's Elves) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Precious Remembrance Shop (Sketchy Christmas ... rapidly becoming my fave and "go to") sentiment stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour  image with Kaisercraft black glitter gel pen used for hair and buttons

Welcome to Friday - the weekend starts about ... NOW!

Morning all

What a truly DISMAL week we've had here, cold wet AND windy! Not great, still, Black Friday today - how many of you will be shopping today? Not me, I'm off to a craft retreat this afternoon and leaving hubby behind so .. can't vouch for whether he will be!

So, if you normally visit my blog of a Saturday to check my make for LIM ... as I'll be away there will be no chance to check the LIM challenge OR to make a card for it. There will be a blog post from me though, as I have a GDTM post to go "live" on Saturday but my next regular "challenge post" will be Monday - you can expect pix from the weekend so you might want to make yourself a coffee before paying that visit! See you then!

In the meantime, a little crafting to share with you all ....

Welcome to Monday and the start of another week

Morning all,

I was recently commissioned to make fifteen Christmas cards in a relatively short space of time and figured batch making was the way to go, this turned out to be a small batch (as I didn't have much ribbon or green card!) but .......

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • Two white, C6/A2, 250gsm cards and matching sized envelopes
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit and one piece of green card, to mat (for each card)
  • Snippets of card in white and green, for the image panel
  • Impression Obsession "Zenspirations" tree stamped using Ranger Archival library green ink - I used a smaller tree from the same set, stamped in Memento tuxedo black, for the front of the envelope as I thought that stamping only half of the words on the front would look rather odd - rightly or wrongly!
  • Platinum stickles used on the star (for the card front) and gold Gansai Tambi starry water colour paints for the star elsewhere
  • Red tartan/plaid ribbon attached using double sided tape

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. CRAFT Challenges - November 16th challenge - CHRISTMAS
  2. Chrimbo Crackers - challenge No. 145 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  3. Craft Rocket - challenge No. 43 - CHRISTMAS IS COMING
  4. Simply Create Too - November 3rd challenge - CLEAN AND SIMPLE

This was another from a batch I was asked to make for the girlfriend of a friend, albeit this is a small batch (of just two) but here they are, side by side

And then, as a thank you for dinner whilst we were away recently ....

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of the envelope

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit and one of grey cut to mat
  • Snippets of card in white, grey and aubergine, for my image panel
  • Dylusions row of stars stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • MFT Splatter image (Distressed Patterns) stamped using Memento sweet plum ink
  • TPC Studio sentiment (Greetings set) stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Stardust stickles to bling up the stars
