Woo Hoo - it's RUDOLPH DAY! .. and also a Thursday

Morning readers,

Hope your week is coming along well and that you aren't too spooked by a Thursday post from me! It happens to be RUDOLPH DAY today which is the reason for my post - what IS Rudolph Day? Well, for us cardmakers it's a monthly reason to make a Christmas card ... thus avoiding the mad scramble to get those last few made .. in November! I TRY to enter each month at least one Christmas card and sometimes (OK, OFTEN!!) more than one. I haven't really stopped making Christmas cards even after reaching my 2017 quota .... in fact, I'm nearly half way to being done with my 2018 quota!!! Nooooo, how did that even happen? Well, this adorable little chap landed on my doormat recently and was just another excuse to make a Christmas project - who could resist a face like this?

And a closer view of the fab image
The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White 12½cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 11½cm square
  • One piece of red DCWV linen textured card, cut to 12cm square and a circle die cut centrally
  • Paper Artsy reindeer face (ZA19) and sentiment (JOFY17) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Stampers Anonymous (Crazy Things CMS237) bow tie stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Copic markers used to add colour
  • Stardust stickles and Anita's dimensional gloss
  • Image panel adhered to card base using Dimensional foam tape - whilst still remaining within the "standard" UK postal rate thickness

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:
  1. Christmas at Sweet Stamping - January challenge - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  2. Scraps of Life - January Rudolph Day challenge - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  3. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge  - challenge No. 369 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  4. A Snowflakes Promise - challenge No. 47 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. The Merry Christmas Challenge - challenge No. 4 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES

A private blog I belong to also runs a themed Rudolph Day challenge (no prizes and only members may enter) and the new theme is to pick any past theme. Back in January of 2016 the theme was CHRISTMAS CAROLS or SONGS ..... so my entry will be for this and my song? Easy .. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer - had to be!

And now on to another fun card, this time a get well card, for a pal who's recently had cataract surgery. I can share this because I know it has been received.

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 300gsm card and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of white card cut to fit and edged using Memento rich cocoa (instead of a further matting layer .. this was going abroad and with postal rates such as they are I was trying to keep this to less than 20g)
  • Hobby Art chicken and sentiment (CS132-D Funky Chickens) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • For the insert I used the "feel better soon" sentiment, by A Muse, also stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour and blended using Sansodor and a paper stump
  • Stardust sickles to give it texture and twinkle!

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Through The Craft Room Door - January 23rd challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 59 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Crafty Gals Corner - challenge No. 157 - ANYTHING GOES
Having been stuck indoors for the last couple of days (with the vile weather) I'm heading out this morning .. to meet a pal for a catch up, some craft shopping and some lunch - leaving poor hubby both at home AND self catering! He'll survive though .. and probably enjoy the peace and quiet too! I hope all those of you who were at the Newbury Papercraft show last weekend left Val with something to sell!

I adore these fun images Kathy and I love your circular design on the pretty red background, and your sweet chicken is bound to cheer up your friend after her cataract surgery, and both beautifully coloured and stickled for a super shimmer. Ooh, the sun has just come out here, and a lovely bit of blue sky too. I know what you mean, it hasn't been much in evidence lately. x

Oh, flap, I have lost track of the days and totally forgot about Rudolph!! Thank you for the reminder with your hilarious card - you know how much I love him! And, of course, you know how much I love that unflappable rooster dude!! All is well here, now (oh, joy) I just have blurry vision for four weeks until I can get my new glasses! So prepare for more than the usual typos, er, I mean "special" words I make up!! Thanks again for the great card!! Hugs, Darnell
