First Friday in February!

Morning all,

Looks like 2018 is going the same way as 2017 - what happened to January? Did I sleep through it ... again!

Been playing at the ToC again this week so I've a bumper crop of crafting makes (or should that be KRAFT-ing?) to share with you today

I LOVE pencils on Kraft card and can't think WHY ON EARTH I don't use them more often! I decided to deploy the fabulous Katzelkraft image for this one.

My card
And a closer view of the image and colouring

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of Kraft card and one of maroon - die with to layer using MFT stitched nesting rectangles
  • One piece of white card cut to fit, for the insert
  • Katzelkraft (from Les Jungles KTZ168) image stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Casterll polychromos pencils used to colour (I did NOT use my usual blending method on the kraft card as it dilutes the colour)
  • HLS sentiment (from Mixed Media Fun) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Stardust stickles to add a little texture and twinkle!

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 277 - MAKE YOUR MARK
  2. WaterCooler Wednesday - challenge No. 155 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Animal Friends - challenge No. 59 - SPOTS and/or STRIPES - I managed both with my entry!
  4. Mix It Up - challenge No. 10 - ANYTHING GOES + CAS (Clean And Simple)

And now ... on to something I haven't done in AGES .... alcohol inks and dry embossing!

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

My roll of metal tape and piece of card - smooth and then after embossing

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 12cm x 8cm
  • One piece of deep pink DCWV linen textured card cut to 13cm x 9cm
  • Metal tape to cover one of the white card panels, smoothed with a teflon folder and then run through my big shot inside a Quickutz embossing folder
  • Black gesso applied all over, allowed to almost dry and then knocked back with a cloth .. to take the shiny brightness off the metal tape
  • Ranger alcohol inks: red pepper, wild plum and eggplant smooshed over the embossed metal using a blending tool and felt pad
  • For the insert and envelope I also stamped the bar code (from Kaisercraft Mister Fox) using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Narrow white grosgrain ribbon attached (centrally) across the plain panel on the embossed card front, using double sided tape
  • Stampers Anonymous frame and sentiment (from Simple Sayings CMS155) stamped using Memento tuxedo black - once on to a snippet of white card which was then smooshed (without re-inking) using the blending tool with the alcohol inks on ... the plain white card was just to "loud"! and then cut out and glued over the top of my grosgrain ribbon

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Paperminutes - challenge No. 523 - USE METAL
  2. Crafty Gals Corner - challenge No. 158 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Country View Challenges - February challenge - ANYTHING BUT CUTE
And then it was back out with the Kraft card and pencils again ...

My card
And a closer view of the image - this shows the colouring a little better - it looks patchy with the flash!

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope
Materials used:
  • 12½cm square white, 300gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Three pieces of card in white, kraft and chocolate - cut to 11½cm and 12cm square
  • Katzelkraft elephant image (from Les Jungles KTZ168), Stampers Anonymous (from CMS155 Simple Sayings), MFT large sentiment (from CS-49 Simply Fabulous) and CAS-ual Fridays sentiment (insert and envelope .. from the set Bold Wishes) all stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell Polychromos pencils used to colour and stardust stickles to highlight

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Paper Shelter - challenge No. 324 - BIRTHDAY CARD
  2. Sunny Day - challenge No. 5 - ELEPHANT
  3. Always Happy Birthday - February challenge - HAPPY BIRTHDAY + CAS (Clean And Simple)

LOVE the pencils on kraft card - clever little sausage that you are - and the image is a hoot. Love the other cards of course. Hopped over mostly to sympathise with the change of what seems like more and more challenges to fortnightly - I know you're a very disciplined gal and weekly was never a bother for you.

Hugs

Di xx

I love your two fun Katzelkraft images Kathy which look great coloured with your pencils on kraft card, and the the metal sheet with the alcohol inks and the super embossing which really highlights it beautifully. I haven't seen the inks used quite like this, so cleverly done! x

Oh my, Kathy, what adorable cards! Love those images and how well you've used them. The combination of stripes and dots is cute and then you've pushed them over the top with sequins on the dots. Great idea. Your pencil on Kraft technique really made the image come to life. Love those colours. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
