My Saturday post .....

Morning readers,

Crumbs, end of June today - tomorrow it will be  ... JULY! All the shopping networks will start talking about Christmas in July and there will be  back to school items in the shops, despite the fact the schools haven't finished for summer yet!!

I recently made a masterboard (using Fresco paints in bora bora, south pacific and zesty zing which I then stamped using a Kaisercraft bubblewrap image using white paint) and had a few bits left over, enough to make a couple of ATC's and then this little ATCoin.

At Craftathon recently, we were playing with alcohol inks/blending solution/straws and foiling!!! Made for some interesting makes and, since it was lovely weather and we were able to work outside, no alcohol ink heads either!!!

Welcome to Friday - the weekend starts here!

Morning readers,

Hope you've had a great week, even enjoying the weather? Frankly, it's a little warm for me - as anyone who knows me personally will already know. I've been out in the mornings but firmly IN during the afternoons! Plenty of time for crafting though. Also made time to catch with some pals, one for coffee and three for lunch just yesterday

Still enjoying my recent discovery of Artist Trading Coins .. unfamiliar? They work like regular ATC's in that there are really no rules other than they are only ever swapped not sold and the size .... Artist Trading Coins should be 2½"(6.35cm) in diameter, as the one below is. There are loads of videos on youtube if you would like more advice/inspiration - otherwise, break out your circular punches or dies and get cracking!

My Artist Trading Coin
Materials used:
  • Snippets of card in black and white and die cut in to 2½" and 2¼" circles
  • Karantha moulding mat used to stamp the yellow background followed by the grey script, orange chevrons and pink splatter
  • Sentiment stamped using black ink
  • Stardust stickles used to highlight the splatter and wink of Stella to highlight the larger font of the sentiment
STAMPS: Creative Expressions "Inspiring Edges", Karantha Stamps "Roses" moulding mat and
Imagination Crafts 12991 backgrounds, SU "Beautiful You" lookalikes (bought in good faith)

  4. Artistic Inspirations - challenge No. 203 - ANYTHING GOES - 2nd entry
  5. The House That Stamps Built - challenge No. 2718 - ANYTHING GOES
I've been contemplating a gelli plate for some little while now but could never quite justify the expense, however, since returning from Craftathon and having the chance to play with someone elses I thought I should. Another friend pointed me at an alternative brand so ... it arrived on Wednesday and (you know me) I couldn't wait to play ...

My very first batch
Guess I need more practice

Welcome to Wednesday

Morning readers,

Is it warm enough? Honestly? I'm melting - now I know how the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz felt! Don't know what I mean? Check out the short video .....

I am currently LOVING the trend of Artist Trading COINS .. I've been making ATC's for years so this is a refreshing change. I had a snippet of a gelli plate experiment left over that was just crying out not to be abandoned in the snippets box, so ........

Materials used:
  • Off cut of a gelli plate experiment (for details see bottom "materials" photo)
  • Black card strip, approx 3" wide and A4 in length
  • Circle dies to cut 2¼" and 2½" diameter circles
  • Versamark ink and the aurora embossing powder, heat set
  • Stickers from the Tim Holtz book
Tim Holtz Idea-ology sticker book "chit chat"
Stampers Anonymous CMS263 - "Sideshow"
Versamark ink - Cosmic Shimmer "Violet black aurora" embossing powder
TCW and Tim Holtz stencils, Fresco zesty zing, Stamp Oasis iridescent red and Pebeo iridescent pink paints
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-

  4. Through The Craft Room Door - challenge No. 26 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 70 - ANYTHING GOES
And, since I seem to  have rekindled the art journal bug too ..... a pal suggested we do a one word prompt journal page per week and this wee's prompt (set by Clare) is "ART"

My journal page
Materials used:
  • One page of my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from The Works) gesso'd and then brayered with Fresco paints (at Craftathon recently) Bora Bora, South Pacific and Zesty Zing
  • The "ART" definition image was stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • The alphabet images, "Create" and the person under the umbrella were stamped using the Versafine ink, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and then heat set (yes, in THIS hot weather - now that's keen!)
  • I used the waterbrush and ink blocks to colour the image
  • Using the Posca paint pens I doodled the borders, embellished the sentiment and border and highlighted the "create art daily"
STAMPS:-Dylusions alphabet, Creative Expressions CEC851 "Inspiring Edges" and Ditzies Designs definition
Versafine onyx black ink and Clear embossing powder
Derwent Inktense blocks and a Caran d'Ache water brush
Posca paint pens in black and white
Is it finished? Who knows? I plan on leaving it a day or so as I've recently been guilty of chucking too much at things! I'm pondering the area that doesn't have much going on in it but ...... I wasn't sure, couldn't leave it alone either ...

The colours look much warmer and true to life in this shot too
So, I added Faber Castell glass bead glitter gel (wondrous stuff) through a TCW star stencil - so much for my plan to leave it a day or so!

I'll be entering this journal page for the following challenges:-
  1. LovetoCreate - challenge No. 9 - ANYTHING (mixed media) GOES
  2. More Mixed Media - June challenge - ANYTHING (mixed media) GOES + optional twist of purple
  3. Happy Little Stampers - June Mixed Media challenge - ANYTHING (mixed media) GOES
Here's how the glass bead glitter gel dried

Monday AND Rudolph Day? Woo Hoo!

Morning readers,

Hope you all had a great weekend and were able to make the most of the gorgeous weather (here's hoping you also HAD gorgeous weather, like I did). Hubby was out all day Saturday (even got up and out by 07:30!!!) which left me free to do "schtuff" ...... since I was also up so early (the quieter he tried to be .....) I had four wash loads on the line by lunchtime and they were all dry early afternoon - yee haa, gotta love an empty linen basket. Feeling smugly self righteous I was able to avail  myself of the sunshine and finish my book.

Also made time for a little crafting, since it's RUDOLPH DAY today I thought I should go with a Christmas card - after all, it will be here before we know it and I DON'T want to get caught out by not having enough cards made! I don't usually use coloured card blanks, preferring white these days, but I had bought some for a card commission that didn't materialise. Don't feel sad for the lost commission or even the materials I bought for it ... after all, it was cream card blanks and card stock and also navy and grey cardstock - all fairly staple supplies and you can see all bar the grey cardstock deployed below ....
