Well, it's both midweek AND Rudolph Day!

Morning readers,

Hope your week is coming along peeps and that you are managing to cope in all this heat ... we're just not used to it in the UK, I swear I've not been cool in a month!

I belong to a private blog where we host Rudolph Day challenges of our own and today sees my turn to present the challenge, I've gone with the theme of Santa - it's a broad theme, open to interpretation as you could argue that even stockings hanging on a mantel mean Santa to some people so it doesn't just have to feature the big man himself! Anyhoo, here is my make, deploying my current favourite die .. the MFT wonky rectangle! I suspect this will need to be a hand delivery though, as it uses a wobbler mechanism!

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • Cream A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of cream card cut to fit
  • One piece of red card, cut to mat
  • Snippets of card in red and cream
  • MFT Wonky rectangle die used to cut a window from the red card
  • Sentiment (from PRS "Sketchy Christmas") and MFT Santa (from "Jingle all the way" stamped on to cream card snippet using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • MFT "Jingle all the way" die used to cut the Santa
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour Santa before attaching the wobbler mechanism (from Hampton Arts) and adhering to my card front
  • Stardust stickles to higlight and bling up the Santa
Additionally,I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Sweet Stampin' Christmas - July challenge - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  2. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - challenge No. 395 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES + (optional) twist of USE SOME RED (DONE!)
  3. Dragonfly Journeys - challenge No. 123 - CHRISTMAS IN JULY
  4. Hiding In My Craft Room - challenge No. 362 - CHRISTMAS IN JULY
And a journal page  ..... I am enjoying getting back in to journalling and a couple of pals and I are setting a one word prompt per week to encourage us to continue - this weeks prompt is "KEY"

My journal page for the prompt of "KEY"
And a closer view to show the fabulous iridescence of the Pebeo paint
Materials used:
  • One page from my Crawford and black journal (£1 from The Works) - ungesso'd
  • Snippet of 300gsm card (cream but, frankly, it could have been any light colour) and black card, cut to mat
  • Using a non stick craft mat I brayered Fresco banana over the entire piece, allowed a very short while (this weather) to dry and then mixed Pebeo iridescent green yellow and fresco bora bora randomly on top - leaving plenty of the banana showing.
  • Having placed the Dylusions circles stencil over the top I knocked back the colour through the stencil using a baby wipe
  • Using the Carabelle (MA60052) "scribbly writing" I brayered some of the leftover paint over the back and then pressed on to my page - it didn't show a whole lot but added a little texture and interest (IMHO)
  • Stampotique "Minky Girl" stamped on to white card using Memento tuxedo black ink, coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut out then adhered on to my painted panel
  • Studio 490 sentiment ("She spoke of art" LCS072) stamped on to the painted panel using Ranger Archival ink
  • Once my panel was adhered to the black matting layer I used a white gelly roll gel pen to doodle a border on the black layer and to draw around the image. I used a bullet tipped white Pitt pen to fill in some of the spaces in my border doodling too
  • Before adhering my panel to the journal page I SHOULD have stamped my Rubber Stampede key around the outer edge but you know what they say about the benefit of hindsight .... so, once my panel was adhered to the journal page I stamped the key image around the outside using Memento London fog ink before hand writing my sentiment using a fine black Sharpie pen, going over the "key" words (sorry, pun INTENDED!!) a second time
I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:
  1. WeLove2Create - challenge No. 10 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES - 3rd entry
  2. More Mixed Media - July 5th challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES + optional twist of Pastel .. which I think it's safe to say I DIDN'T use!
  3. Creative Artiste - challenge No. 40 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES - 2nd entry
I also discovered one of my mixed media pieces was selected as a winner over at More Mixed Media for their challenge "ATG + option of purple - thanks so much peeps

Happy Rudolph Day to you mate!

Fabby wobbly Santa. Wahoo for wobblers! (I think the heat has got to my brain!)

CONGRATS on your win too.

SLIGHTLY scary AJ page . . . but I like the sentiments!

No Hugs at all in this blinking heat, Sarn xxx
