Woo Hoo! It's Friday and the weekend is ALMOST here!

Morning readers,

I've had a real week of clearing out this week and a couple of days ago I started to look at some of my stamps, intending to rid myself of anything I haven't used in a year. You know what it's like though ... you start to rummage and then pick something up and start thinking about how you might use it .... that's exactly what happened below! Guess he's not going anywhere just yet then!

My ATC
And a closer view of the colouring, gloss and doodling!
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in white, blue and black
  • I stamped the Changito image (Stampendous "Changito slicker") directly on to the blue card using Memento Paris dusk ink and then again on to a snippet of white card
  • Using Faber Castell polychromos pencils I coloured JUST the Changito image on the white card and the raindrops and puddle on the blue card. Once done I fussy cut out the upper portion of Changito and also the boots .... knowing that no matter how careful those little stick legs were never going to look good cut out!
  • I attached the Changito image and boots using Rombow multi glue and embellished using Anita's dimensional gloss on the raindrops and puddle before setting aside to dry
  • Sakura white gelly roll gel pen used to doodle the dotty border
  • Wink of Stella clear glitter gel brush pen used to trace the inked rain
  • I then thought it still need a little something to took my That's Crafty "dinky" stencil of raindrops and applied gloss gel medium through it, using a spatula - THAT'S what it needed - IMHO!
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Everybody Art - challenge No. 430 - STAMP
  2. Papercraft Challenges - challenge No. 19 - ANIMALS
  3. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - challenge No. 1834 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 307 - MAKE YOUR MARK
  5. 4 Crafty Chicks - challenge No. 418 - ANYTHING GOES

It's Wednesday .. so, it's downhill to the weekend!

Morning readers,

My apologies but this post got away from me a little bit as I have two cards, a journal page to share this morning - I hope you have time to stay with me all the way to the bottom! Appreciate it, along with comments people take the time to leave me, I enjoy reading them so thanks for stopping by.

I've another Christmas card to share with you today, well .. Christmas IS rapidly approaching and I've no wish for it to arrive and for me not to be ready for it!!! It's happened before!

A friend has been posting a weekly challenge over on facebook and, frankly, I've fallen a little behind - this is for her "eight maids a milking" challenge which was set several weeks ago! Ooopsie!

  5. Penny Black - August challenge - ANYTHING GOES + optional twist ON THE MOVE (or on the MOOve in my case!!)
I decided to make another card but this time went with masculine, monochrome and geometric today, though I think this could work for a girlie card - just by changing the colour, don't you? Quick and easy to make too AND gave me the opportunity to ink some NBUS (Never Before Used Stash - an acronym coined by Darnell) in the form of the Mod shapes which I acquired whilst in Colorado earlier this year.
My card

And now ... an other journal page. Some friends and I are challenging ourselves to make a journal page per week and have been using a one word prompt to get us in the mood. This week the word is "IMMERSE" .... so I immersed myself in "water/sea" and "the age old problem we women wrestle with"!
My journal page
A closer view of the figure
A better view of the foiling and gilding wax
Materials used:
  • One page from my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from the Works)
  • Using a palette knife I applied Fresco bora bora and south pacific paints and also Brunel & Franklin cerulean blue acrylic paint
  • I stamped my image and sentiment (I BELIEVE it was a free set from Acid Drops & Whatnots for Papercraft Essentials) on to snippets of white card using Memento tuxedo black ink and then coloured using Faber Castell polychromos pencils before fussy cutting round it and adhering to my page using Matte medium
  • Using a Stamposaurus chain link stencil and a mixture of modelling paste, cerulean blue paint and iridescent medium I stencilled the lower portion of my page .. to simulate waves for my image to "immerse" herself in!
  • Kaisercraft "script" image stamped both partially and randomly on the upper section of my page using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • White gesso applied sparingly over the entire page at this point, to knock back the colour and stamping a smidge
  • Using Finnabair alchemy gilding wax and a mini blending tool I sponged through the "seaweed" of Paper Artsy PS093 stencil
  • I also computer generated the answer to "does my bum look big in this" (that age old problem we women wrestle with), printed it and cut it out, I cut "does my bum" in to two pieces so that both sentiments would fit on the same sized tag
  • Using a snippet of white card I die cut two (unbranded) faux stitched tags and attached my sentiments before using Memento Bahama blue ink to brush over the tag and then position Paper Artsy PS093 stencil and brush the same ink again ... like fish scales!
  • Once the tags were adhered to my page I doodled a border round the page and tags, using Posca paint pens in white and black, also adding some journal style words, drifting up the seaweed.
  • With my Tombow multi glue I added some glue to the tag and chain link and set aside to dry, once it had dried clear and tacky I took a sheet of green foil and added some foiling shine
  • Using a Faber Castell water soluble pencil I traced an outline around the figure and blended using a water brush
I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. International Art and Soul - challenge No. 40 - MARINE, OCEAN or SEA
  2. WeLove2Create - challenge No. 11 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  3. More Mixed Media - August 5th challenge - ANYTHING GOES + optional twist of BRIGHT

I went to post this page in the place my friends and I share our weekly journal challenges ..... one of the group had gone with mermaid so I wasn't alone with the sea connection ... she'd painted hers freehand, MUCH more artistic than mine but, that said, I'm happy with my journal page and that's what it's all about, isn't it?

The peeps over at WaterCooler Wednesday picked one of my cards as one of their "WaterCooler Rockers" - thanks peeps, it's always so lovely to hear when people like your work

It's Wednesday, a day for traditionally sharing photos of ones work desk .. mine needed a good tidy up ...

So I did ....

I saw something whilst I was tidying - an idea popped in to  my head and so ... back to square one!

Here comes another week!

Morning readers,

Hope you all enjoyed your Bank Holiday weekend, was it my imagination or did it feel a tad autumnal to you too? To say nothing of wet ... but that's pretty typical for a UK Bank Holiday weekend, isn't it?

One of my friends said yesterday that her son was celebrating his 21st birthday! OH MY GOSH ... where does the time go? Doesn't seem long ago I was making "doggy" cards for a young lad and now..... thank heavens I didn't make that mistake for this particular birthday, how embarrassing would that have been? I've just checked .... whilst it didn't mention 21 I do believe it was a suitable (and masculine) card for a young man, rather than a boy - pheww!

And, an update on the cat which adopted us a short while ago, visiting several times each day ... even staying for eight hours one day!! It would appear that, as suspected, it's "carers" have returned home as we didn't see it at all over the weekend, other than a brief visit Friday morning. Whilst we'll kind of miss him ...... it IS nice that it's happy to have its peeps home again!

Anyhoo, been hitting the ToC this weekend (that's Table of Craftiness) and have a thank you card to share with you today . . . .

  • Creative Expressions (CEC897 "loopy textures and elements") stamped using the Memento bamboo leaves and London fog inks

We had guests join us for dinner over the weekend and my  hubby (who's a pretty fine cook at the best of times) excelled himself with his Italian menu, here's a peek at pud. Whilst it looks EXACTLY like the photo with the recipe it doesn't look like any tiramisu I've ever seen before! It was LUSH too, but very rich and none of us finished the entire portion! Next time it serves 8! First time we've ever sent our guests home with a doggy bag!

And another weekend begins ....

Morning readers,

Hope you've all had a good week. I've been catching up with crafting and friends .. and not necessarily in that order! It was dinner with friends at the appropriately named Giggling Squid on Wednesday where the food was great (I tried the chicken massaman) but the service not so much and afternoon tea with two of my oldest (time known) pals on Thursday, where I had the red velvet cake - a very sociable week!

Today, I have an Artist Trading Card to share with you, it's for a themed swap with the topic of "JUNGLE ANIMALS" ....... whilst you might not think it looks particularly jungle-y! I think you would concede that this animal would be most often seen in one although maybe not wearing a hat and checkered clothes!

  • Snippets of card in black, DCWV textured yellow and white
  • On the white layer I stamped the VLV image (from plate 921) using Memento tuxedo black ink

  • Avery Elle sentiment (ST18-07) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink

The Dutchdoobadoo stencil used above was a recent stash acquisition (see below) from a foray to Swindon - to Snazzy's

How restrained was I????

My mid week post ...

Morning readers,

Hope your week is coming along as well as mine is, despite having been adopted by a little ginger cat! It's very sweet but has quite a loud miaow! We're assuming it's family has gone away for a period of time and it feels it's "sitters" are not paying enough attention! I'm sure they'll be back soon and then we'll be back to normal but ... it miaows at the back door right now!

Seems ENTIRELY happy at ours! Even stayed for our BBQ, probably liked the
company as sat outdoors and chatted for a couple of hours (to each other, not the cat!!!)
Got a real quick ATC this morning, one stencil, two stamps and two inks - BAZINGA!

My Artist Trading Card - themed "TIME FLIES"
Materials used:

And finally, a journal page ..... a few friends and I challenge one another to produce at least one journal page a week. To that end, we set ourselves one word prompts - this weeks word is "DISTRESS" and here is my page.....

My journal page - "distressed" to lose his balloon!! AND distressed style background
Stencilled and painted ...... a little dark IMHO
White gesso, much better
Materials used:
  • One page of my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from The Works)
  • Liquitex modelling paste applied through Dutchdoobadoo 470.715.120 - "Triangles" and 470.715.035 - "Geometric Tiles" stencils
  • Once dry, I added two layers of Deco Art matte paint - "purple passion" followed by one layer of white gesso applied with a barely moist baby wipe, as I felt the purple paint was a smidge too dark
  • Next came a layer of Pebeo iridescent violet/blue paint which I "distressed" using a baby wipe whilst the paint was still wet - gave it a lovely iridescent sheen
  • Paper Artsy image (EDY21) stamped on to a snippet of white card
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour the image and a border around the image ..... I then cut out the image and let the balloon float away from the main image - who wouldn't be distressed to lose their balloon?!?!??!? lol
  • Dylusions alphabet (DY41917) used to stamp the word "distressed" using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Posca white paint pen used to highlight the text and doodle around the image
  • White paint through which I ran an old credit card to make the lines and an old lid to make the circles
  • Finnabair alchemy gilding wax in brushed iron applied, with a mini blender and foam, to the stencilled areas to give it more of a distressed look
I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
