Welcome to my Wednesday post ....

Morning readers,

GOOD GRIEF! How did it get to be August already?!?! I was just getting used to it being July ... in fact I made the card below for some of the many "Christmas in July" challenges!

Well, as we roll ever closer to Christmas my thoughts have turned to cracking on with my 2018 quota so it will come as no surprise to see another Christmas card here today .... when surrogate grandson #2 comes to visit and asks (as he always does) if he can colour in some images ... the Santa below is his all time favourite so ....... I thought it was time I give it a go! It's an old image (very old) and one I was gifted following my mum's death - I hope you like my treatment of him.

My card

And now to a journal page ... if you are a regular visitor to my blog then you will know that a few like minded pals of mine have gotten together with the idea of journalling one page per week. We're coming up with a one word prompt to get us all behind the idea and this week's word is "INTENTION"

First three layers (dolly mix + squid/white + stencilling
My finished page with stamping, doodling and heat embossing
Closer view of the detail
Materials used:
  • One page from my Crawford and Black journal
  • I brayered Fresco dolly mix randomly over the page and let it dry
  • Next I mixed white acrylic paint with Fresco quid ink (to lighten the tone) and brayered randomly to one side.
  • Whilst the squid ink/white paint was drying I placed my Dylusions circles stencil over it and knocked back some of the colour to the dolly mix - using a moist baby wipe

I adore your traditional looking Santa Kathy and love the really bright red you have used for his coat and hat and lots of wonderful sparkle on the fur, and the ribbon goes beautifully too. The journal page is great too and you and your friends have managed to keep it going with your group theme. x

This is a great Santa image. He has a folk art quality to him and you have coloured him up so nicely. I can see the glimmer on the fur trim of his outfit.
I also like the sentiment here!

Thanks for taking part in the belated July Rudolph Challenge.

Your journal page is sure true. My intentions are twisting and turning at the moment due to jet lag! lol

That's a super Santa image and you've made a great festive card with him.

Lovely mail art!

The balloon photo's are terrific too. Had a hot air balloon go over our home a week or so ago, but all the photo's I took of it were RUBBISH, but I did think of you as it floated overhead!

Hugs, Sarn xxx

It's a perfect treatment for this wonderful image and I bet you certainly enjoyed using something from your Sweet Mom to create such a lovely card. He's a delightful & rather vintage Santa, and I love this type of Santa very much! I think I have a couple rather similar, so thanks for the reminder to hunt them up! TFS
