Saturday ... got plans?

Hi there readers

Got an ATCoin for you this morning and, I'm proud to say, I've deployed new stash (stamps from two new sets and some sheet gold foil)

My Artist Trading Coin
Materials used:
  • Snippets of card in white and blue starred (DCWV stack)
  • Nesting circle dies used to die cut the 2½" and 2¼" circles
  • Distress Inks in worn lipstick and barn door applied using a mini blender and foam pad
  • Simon Says Stamp star image (SSS101503) stamped using Memento rosebud ink
  • MFT sentiment (from CS-274) stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Using a mini stencil (Tim Holtz THMST005) I applied glue stick adhesive to the stencil and worked in to the circles using my finger.
  • After removing the stencil (and cleaning all the "goo" off) I placed my gold foil over the stencilled area, burnishing firmly, before leaving for an hour or so prior to removing the foil. I love the kind of grungey effect this gives
  • Finally, a quick application of Krylon spray sealant, to protect the water based Distress Inks

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-

  • MFT sentiment (CS-274 - "Anything but basic Birthday wishes") stamped using Versafine onyx black ink

Morning readers,

Been at the Table of Craftiness again, another Artist Trading Card to share with you  - I love to ink up new stash and to use snippets of card, this ATC combines both! The Studio Light images are new but have been inked but the Dylusions sentiments are NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff .. as per the lovely Darnell). Oh .. and, apparently - I'm STILL in my PINK phase too! Not that I used the same inks so it's not like I could use the "well, they were out on the desk"  reason as my excuse either! Still, I'm pretty happy with the results

Saturday, 13 April 2019

Saturday - look out - it's the weekend!

Hello readers,

I recently decided to swap an Artist Trading Coin with a pal and thought that, if I needed to protect it in transit, why not make a card to go with it ...... two birds, one stone!

My card
The front and back of my card and the front of my envelope
Materials used:
  • White 15cm square, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card, cut to fit
  • Clarity stamp feather () stamped using Memento tangelo ink
  • TCP sentiment (from S-5845-CL) stamped using Versafine Clair nocturne ink
  • Diamond stickles to bling up the vein of the feather
  • The image panel was attached to my card blank using dimensional foam tape - to add further "cushioning" in transit whilst still conforming to "standard" postal rates
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. QKR Stampede - challenge No. 343 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. CardzTV - challenge No. 87 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Penny's Paper Crafty - challenge No. 425 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Crafting With An Attitude - challenge No. 50 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. The Happy Craft Challenge - April challenge - ANYTHING GOES

And the coin I mailed? Well, you can see below where I took my "orange" inspiration from! - if you want to see the full ATCoin then check out my original post here. I just hope my friend liked it.

And now for another make ... the challenge was "subtle colours" and I initially thought grey and versamark pigment inks with clear embossing powder on to black card. I tried it and it was just TOO sombre even for a sympathy card. Plan B) was two shades of grey instead, with just a dab of stickles - after all, these cards are meant to be supportive and cheering

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit

  • Memory Box script (Script Block - E453) stamped using Memento London fog ink
  • Memory Box flower (Painted Daisy - C430) stamped using Memento Grey flannel ink
  • TCP sentiment (S-5845-CL) stamped using Versafine Clair nocturne ink
  • Just the merest dab of diamond stickle "smooshed" about the flower centre, just to break up the grey

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 393 - SUBTLE COLOURS
  2. Creative Fingers - challenge No. 1612 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Pattie's Creations - challenge No. 157 - FLOWERS .... I hope a single flower counts

Friday and this can only mean one thing - the weekend starts here!

Morning readers,

I was chatting (electronically) with some crafting pals and it came about that we were talking about gilding flakes. I challenged a few of us to make (and post a pic) a project that same day - I dashed off to the Table of Craftiness and thought "If I'm going to use one item that I seldom think to use then why not use a second (my pan pastels) and perhaps a page in my neglected journal!!" I rummaged (like you do) and found a sentiment, stencil and image that I fancied using. I laid down the pan pastels background and reached for my gilding flakes and flitter glue - OH NO! My flitter glue had gone off (it was kind of glossy cream and solid!) but, I'm no quitter and reached for my "Sticky Stuff" embossing powder instead, as plan B's go it worked but I now recall why I don't use it as my go to method, I never perfected the balance between heated enough to be sticky and heated too much to be useful! Will I replace my flitter glue? Not sure, it's not like I use gilding flakes a lot since I discovered sheet foiling and tombow dual purpose glue and I also have a WRMK foiling pen, but, I've digressed - check out the journal page below ...

My journal page
And a closer view of the gilding flakes
Materials used:
  • One page of my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from The Works - such terrific value)
  • Pan pastels applied using cut and dry foam
  • Dark Room Door sentiment stamped using Versafine Clair nocturne ink
  • Katzelkraft image (KTZ212) stamped on to both the journal page and on a snippet of white card
  • Alcohol markers used to colour the image which I fussy cut out on completion and adhered directly over the image stamped on my journal page (to cover up any "misses" in my fussy cutting!!!
  • Aall & Create stencil (#28) through which I applied Versamark embossing ink before sprinkling with Judikins Sticky Stuff and heating. Once the Sticky Stuff was heated and sticky I applied a liberal coating of gilding flakes, burnished with my fingers before removing the excess with a coarse sponge

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. WeLove2Create - challenge No. 4 - ANYTHING MEDIA GOES
  2. More Mixed Media - April challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  3. Stamplorations - April Mixed Media challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES but must use a stencil
  4. Altered Eclectics - April challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  5. A Inky Mess - challenge No. 29 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES

And, in case you are curious about the blanket I've been crocheting ..... it now measures 67" square - getting there!

Been looking after the surrogate wildlife this week. And that wildlife comprises: Riddick the dog and Iris the cat - both pretty cool

Not entirely sure what she's got her sights set on but ....
What a heroic pose!!!
