Friday and the weekend is about to start!

Morning readers,

OH MY GOODNESS - do you all realise that tomorrow is December 1st? Nearly time to put up those trees (assuming you celebrate Christmas) and lights and to start putting the finishing touches to those cards ... to say nothing of writing them and getting them off in the post! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT PEEPS!

Our local "Christmas Tree store" has set up in its usual spot and is full, ready for tomorrow as I guess many people will be looking to start their holiday decor! When do YOU put up your tree?

Anyhoo, it was chucking it down with rain much of this week and the best solution seemed to be to stay in and craft .. so I did!! This may not be the best or the quickest ATC I've ever made but I had a bit of fun producing it and I'm entirely happy with the results! I hope you like it too.

My ATC
And a closer view of the detail and foiling
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in black and white
  • On the white snippet I laid my Dutchdoobadoo numbers stencil (470.715.603) and applied Memento London fog using my Aldi stencil brush, then it was the cog stencil and woodgrain stencil using Memento grey flannel (THMST001 & 010)
  • Script image (Imagination Crafts Art Stamp set) stamped using Memento grey flannel ink
  • Pointing hand image (Stampers Anonymous CMS153 - Mini Blueprint #4) stamped using Memento Paris dusk ink
  • Washi tape across the bottom of my white card.
  • Paper Artsy splatter image (HTPX01) stamped using Ranger Archival paradise teal
  • After heating up my WRMK "heatwave" foiling pen I doodled blue foiling around the outer edge of the ATC and also on the image panel ... still getting to grips with the tool, it has to be said!
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. The House That Stamps Built - challenge No. 218 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Crafty Creations - challenge No. 379 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Shopping Our Stash - challenge No. 382 - WASHI, WASHI, WASHI!
  4. Crafting From The Heart - challenge No. 230 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - challenge No. 1847 - ANYTHING GOES

It's hump day Wednesday and downhill to the weekend!

Morning readers,

Regular visitors to this blog will know that a few friends and I challenge ourselves to complete a journal layout each week and we take it in turns to choose a one word prompt to get us moving. This week's word prompt is "GRATEFUL" and here is my layout for this theme .... using a different colour scheme (for me) - hope you like it ....

My journal page
And a closer view to show the random foiling
And my gratitude words in the stencilled circles
Materials used:
  • One page of my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from The Works)
  • Fresco banana paint
  • Brunel Franklin blue cerulean blue paint applied through Dyslusions circle stencils
  • Tim Holtz idea-ology self adhesive sticker from their "small talk" range
  • Posca paint pens in black and white, used to doodle borders and outlines and also to write my "grateful for" words
  • Flying heart image (from Inkadinkado) stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Quickie glue pen used to scribble shapes for my foil ... set aside to dry
  • Silver foil ... I was impatient to use the foil and some of my shapes weren't dry and the adhesive lifted on to my foil .. which turned out to be a great way to add "specks" of foil all over my project .. reSULT!!!
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Take a Word - November 25th challenge - WINGS on THINGS
  2. Crafty Cardmakers - challenge No. 223 - ANYTHING BUT A CARD
  3. WeLove2Create - challenge No. 14 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  4. More Mixed Media - November challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES + option of BLACK
  5. Stamplorations - November Mixed Media challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES but MUST use a STENCIL

And next, one of my perennial favourite makes and one which is always great for using up snippets!

My Artist Trading Coin
And a closer view of the gloss and sparkle!
Materials used:
  • Snippets of card in navy and white
  • Plain circular dies in 2½" and 2¼" - used to cut the snippets
  • Paper Artsy image (from JOFY57) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink, including an impression on to a post it which I then cut out and used as a mask
  • Alcohol markers used to colour the image ... pro markers: Blush, Tulip, Poppy, Magenta and Mulberry
  • With my mask in place I place my Dutchdoobadoo stencil (470.715.035) and applied Faber Castell glass bead glitter gel (using a palette knife) and set aside to dry
  • Anita's dimensional gloss applied to the star and, again, set aside to dry - you're not wrong - this was NOT a quick make!
  • Once my ATCoin was assembled I used a Sakura white gelly roll gel pen to doodle the detail on the matting layer
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Crafty Sentiments - November 27th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Passion for Promarkers - challenge No. 422 - SPARKLE AND SHINE
  3. Through The Craft Room Door - November 27th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  4. The Holly and The Ivy - challenge No. 41 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  5. Christmas With The Cuties - challenge No. 22 - ANYTHING BUT A CARD ... I think it's cute and hope the Design Team do too!

And another week begins ....... wish me luck, I'm going in!

Morning readers,

Welcome to another week and one which will see out November and usher in December! YIKES ... I hope you are all nearly ready for it to actually BE December! Christmas will be here before you know it! I've made all my Christmas cards (I'm pleased to say) but I just don't seem to be able to stop myself making them! I recently acquired this fab set from Paper Artsy and, so far, had only used one image so .... it was a no brainer, had to ink another one!

My One Layer Card ..... to save you turning your head sideways ...
the tree stumps read "a very merry xmas"!!!

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of white card cut to fit .... as the insert since this is a One Layer Card
  • Tree image (Paper Artsy JOFY57) and sentiment (JOFY17) stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell pencils, Copic Atyou spica glitter pens used to colour
  • Dutchdoobadoo stencil (470.715.035 - geometric tiles) through which I applied Memento London fog ink with an Aldi stencil brush - for the snowline
  • Stardust stickles to bling up the centre tree and snowline

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 385 - HOLIDAY plus it's the dreaded One Layer Card challenge ..... they are also looking for Design Team Members ... if you are interested!

It's the weekend!

Hi readers,

Hope your week has gone well and that you all have something nice to look forward to over this weekend. I imagine the Christmas dash to be sociable will be starting next weekend - I know I'm out with my cousin and a mutual pal next weekend, we're doing a Secret Santa and I have my gift just begging to be wrapped!

However, you probably stopped by to see what I've been making so, as you may well have spotted on previous visits ... once I find an idea I like I'm likely to make several similar (but NOT the same) makes and, without further ado, here's a card deploying some foil recently acquired to use with my new "heatwave" tool but which doesn't ACTUALLY work with it ... thought I'd best use some before I consign it to the drawer, never to see the light of day again!!!

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of red card, cut to mat and a snippet for die cutting
  • MFT "Hooray" die used with the red snippet
  • Double sided clear tape and Silver foiling used to add a silver band across my card
  • I then ran the die cut through my Xyron sticker maker and attached it to my card front
  • Having decided it needed a little something, I decided to take my Carabelle stencil (MA60051) and my stencil brush and apply Ranger Archival sienna ink to my card
  • Rather than add the die to my insert/reverse and envelope I found I had a similar stamp in the Ranger Letter It set "Celebration" which I used with Versafine onyx black ink, to get a nice dark impression
  • Stampers Anonymous "just celebrate" from their CM155 "Simple Sayings" set, inked using Memento tuxedo black ink
I'm figuring this could be an anniversary/engagement or, at a pinch, a wedding card and I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Happy Little Stampers - November challenge - ANYTHING GOES with DIES
  2. QKR Stampede - challenge No. 323 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. CraftyCatz - challenge No. 439 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Creative Friday - challenge No. 219 - CAS (Clean And Simple)
  5. Paper Artsy - challenge No. 20 - FOILING - 2nd entry

Did y'all avail yourselves of Black Friday bargains? I visited a pal and found out she availed herself of a new microwave and me? I bought a new (and PURPLE) hairdryer - who'd a thunk it! What did YOU buy?

TGIF peeps

Morning readers,

Had a good week? Got anything nice to look forward to at the weekend? I've almost done with my Christmas cards (making and writing) - pheww so can crack on with the Christmas shopping now - I feel almost like I'm on the home stretch now whereas, when I returned from my recent vacation I had felt like I was all behind - oh the convenience of online shopping!! Mind you, it only really works if you have an idea of what you are looking for, I find!

I've not spent much time at the Table of Craftiness as a result and, although I've been sharing two makes in a number of recent posts, I have only one make to share today .....

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of red card, cut to mat
  • Sentiment (Stamplorations sentiment builder "celebrate") stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Hearts stencil (Carabelle MA60051) through which I applied the Memento rosebud ink using Aldi's stencil brush
  • WRMK "heatwave" foiling pen and gold foil used to add foil to the stencilling
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Addicted to Stamps - challenge No. 319 - CAS - Clean And Simple

  3. Through The Craft Room Door - November 20th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Unicorn Challenge - challenge No. 38 - USE A SENTIMENT
  5. Paper Artsy - challenge No. 20 - FOILING

I discovered that one of my entries was a fave over at Happy Little Stampers, for their October ATC challenge, thanks so much Kylie and crew - always nice to hear that people like your work, isn't it?

Welcome to mid week

Morning readers,

How are you all getting along with your preparations for Christmas? I had thought I was doing OK until I looked at my Christmas list and realised I only had three presents ready to wrap and the rest were all just lying there (in a shop somewhere) waiting for me to buy them! Sunday afternoon and a few mouse clicks and Monday spent awaiting deliveries and .... well, let's just say "getting there"!!!

Anyhoo, whilst waiting in for the nice man from Kerblam! (Doctor Who reference there) to deliver my parcels I found I had some time to play at the Table of Craftiness and here's what I made ..... a quick and easy Artist Trading Card

Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippet of Maroon DCWV linen texture card and a snippet of white card
  • Taking my Dutchdoobadoo triangles stencil (470.715.120) I applied Memento London fog ink using an Aldi stencil brush .... swapping to my Dylusions circles stencil (DYS52364) and Memento Paris dusk ink
  • Paper Artsy (eclectic plate No. 2) image stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • I picked a self adhesive sentiment from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology sticker book (Small talk) and cut it in to three sections before edging randomly using a Faber Castell pitt pen ("S" nib)
  • Sakura white gelly roll gel pen used to doodle the border around the maroon layer
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Through The Craft Room Door - November 20th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 81 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Crafting From The Heart - challenge No. 229 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - challenge No. 1846 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Pixie's Crafty Workshop - challenge No. 339 - USE SNIPPETS
Now I really must scoot, as I'm meeting a pal for coffee so, if the nice man from Kerblam! turns up with more parcels my hubby will have to find space for them!

Welcome to another week and more vacation piccies

Morning readers,

Hope you enjoyed your weekend, I know we did although we're still wading through the fallout of having been away! Returned home to the full on feeling that I was behind with my Christmas plans too ..... so spent Friday afternoon writing my Christmas cards and ... pheww! I DO have enough Christmas cards!!!

That being the case it's NOT a Christmas card I have to share with you this morning .. but a journal page. Regular visitors to this blog will recall that a few friends and I challenge ourselves to make a journal page each week and, to that end, we take it in turns to set a one word prompt to get us creating. I'm ashamed to say that I have missed the last two prompts but (since it was my turn to set the word) I was determined to do one for this week's word which is "TRAVEL"

My journal page
And a closer view of the sparkle and shine
Materials used:
  • One page of my Crawford and Black journal (£1 from The Works)
  • Distress Ink in picked raspberry "smooshed" directly across the page
  • Dutchdoobadoo stencil (Triangles - 470.715.120) laid over and a blending brush and water used to remove some colour from the background, blotted and dried before proceeding
  • Two self adhesive phrases (one of which I cut in to two) from the Tim Holtz idea-ology book of small talk
  • Three lengths of washi tape attached to the bottom of my page
  • Happy Little Stampers images ("Wish you were here" - a recent prize .. thanks Kylie!) stamped using Versafine onyx black ink and heat embossed using Funstamps holographic embossing powder (as per the "leave a little sparkle" phrase!!!!)
  • Art Impressions word (H-1979) and the Stampa Rose Tin Can Mail postcard image (G59-576) stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Quickie glue pen used to doodle some lines and, once dry to a tacky consistency, I applied the Designer Foils silver foil
  • Posca paint pens in black and white used to doodle borders around the page and sentiments

Materials to varied to cover in the materials used list!
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Jo's Scrap Shack - challenge No. 260 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Creative Artiste - challenge No. 44 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  3. Art Impressions - challenge No. 245 - WASHI TAPE .. AND I got to deploy an elderly A.I. image
  4. WeLove2Create - challenge No. 14 - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES
  5. More Mixed Media - November challenge - ANYTHING MIXED MEDIA GOES + optional twist of BLACK
This MAY be the last post with pix from my recent Florida vacation ..... we took a trip to the aptly named LAKEland and found Lakes Morton and Hollingworth - both lovely, with lots of fairly tame wildlife only too happy to be photographed.

Topped off with dinner at one of our fave destinations
No visit to Florida is complete without a visit to Whimsodoodle and mine was no exception!

And my stash haul
And, around the time we were ready to leave ... a pal and I visited a local shopping attraction, where it was wall to wall Christmas

You may well (by now) be pleased to hear that's the end of the vacation pix! Thanks for persevering!

I'm an October winner over at Stamplorations too, thanks peeps, really appreciate it

Saturday and some more pix

Morning readers,

You might want to grab a coffee and sit down for this as there are a few more vacation pix to trawl through, if you've time. We've only been home a few days and already I'm missing the warm sunshine!

My first project is gift wrap/tag art - thought it might make a change from the cards I normally post ..... I hope you agree.

The front of my gift tag
The reverse of my gift tag
And the completed gift wrap

  • Kraft gift tag
  • Snowman, sentiment, "To", "From" and parcels all by Recollections and stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Derwent coloursoft and Prismacolour scholar pencils used to colour
  • Sakura clear gel glitter pen and stardust stickles used to highlight
  • For the gift wrap I used a kraft bag, ribbon and bell from HobbyLobby

Guess it went off cold!
And then, a day at the beach

New Smyrna beach
A bit of a show off Osprey!
Canova beach - red tide everywhere so took this to show what a gorgeous day it was
Does it help if I say I only ate ¼? It was DELICIOUS though
And some sunsets

Not often you stop at traffic lights and see ... a roller coaster!
