Morning all,

How's your week coming along? Mine's coming along pretty good .. physio yesterday has eased my aching back AND the decorating must be drawing to a close as we nipped out (after physio) and ordered the new carpet which is coming next week - HUZZAH!!! Been a long time coming but .... it will all be worth it in the end!

Decided to make a Christmas card .... thought I'd like to use this little used set of penguin stamps .. set off on one track, to make a wobbler card but - not happy, so this is the Mark II card ... it's über CAS, which is just how I like it these days!

Materials used:

• White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
• Two white card panels cut to 9½ x 14cm
• Two pieces of navy card cut to mat with a 1.6mm border
• Inkadinkado penguin image and sentiments stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Zig clean colour brush pens (neon yellow, neon orange, violet and cool grey1) used to colour
• Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen and Stardust stickles used to highlight

• Katzelkraft cat image stamped on to the white snippet using Memento rich cocoa and coloured with alcohol markers (including the background
• Visible Image mini flourish stamped around the outer edge using Versacolour raspberry (flourish side) and Ranger Archival sepia (border side)
• Paper Artsy splatter image stamped randomly using Delicata golden glitz ink
• Stamplorations exclamation mark image stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Faber Castell big brush white pen used to doodle a border
• Black glitter gel pen to dot the cats eyes and nose
• Stardust stickles to highlight

Welcome to Sunday morning

Morning all,

Hope you are all OK this morning ... hubby and I were out to dinner with my sister in law and brother last night - an Indian BBQ restaurant!!!! Rather unusually for us, we took the bus! Well, parking's really difficult around the location of the restaurant and the bus stop? DIRECTLY opposite the restaurant - how easy was that?

Bit of a change for me .. a card which ISN'T CAS (Clean And Simple) but it does, once again, feature Distress Crayons and Crayola Slick Stix!!!!

My card

 

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of the envelope

Materials used:

• White C6/A2, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
• Two pieces of white card cut to 9½ x 14cm + snippets for both the image and sentiment
• Two pieces of navy card cut to mat with a 1.6mm border
• White gesso applied using a dried up baby wipe
• Once dry Distress Crayons in black soot, hickory smoke and chipped sapphire applied to panel and blended with a moistened finger. It lacked a little something so I grabbed the Crayola Slick Stix red and added/smudged it around the edge
• Using stencils from TCW and That's Crafty and a baby wipe I knocked back some of the colour and also added some lines using the TCW grungey lines stencil and Ranger Archival jet black ink
• I stamped the Stampers Anonymous "man with umbrella" (from the set "SIDESHOW") once on to the image panel and a gain on to a snippet of white card, using Ranger Archival jet black ink. I fussy cut out the man from this image and mounted it on dimensional foam tape directly on top of the stamped image
• I stamped the Stampers Anonymous sentiment border using Ranger Archival cobalt blue ink and the sentiment in Ranger Archival jet black ink - the panel was cut out, dabbed with Distress Ink in hickory smoke (to lessen the stark white of the card), mounted on dimensional foam and positioned above the image
• Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to the project to seal the water based ink/crayons

Saturday and .. it's the weekend!

Hi there readers and followers,

It's the weekend once more and, how's the weather with you? We've had some freaky weather in the U.K. and U.S. (and probably other places too) with flash floods .. I hear parts of Germany have been up in the 90°s (fahrenheit) this week too .... but I'm reasonably confident it will be raining in my neck of the woods this weekend. WHY? That'll be because it's Glastonbury festival weekend and it pretty much ALWAYS rains at Glasto! Hope the attendees have their wellies with them! ENJOY!

Meanwhile, my Saturday mornings are normally taken up making a few things for challenges and today's no different .... it's the time of year when lots of people got/are getting married which means I need a fair few anniversary and/or wedding cards ...

• Two pieces of grey card cut to mat with a 1.6mm border
• One piece of black card cut to mat the image panel with a 1.6mm border
• Carta Bella stencil through which I applied Distress Ink in hickory smoke using a Tim Holtz mini blending tool previously used with D.I. festive berries which gives a livelier "grey" colour!
• We R Memory Keepers plane image, Anita's wood mounted art deco sentiment and Cas-ual Fridays small sentiment all stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink

It's time for the Friday Funny again!

Morning all,

Well, here we are .. another Glastonbury weekend ... it's bound to rain! Earlier this week the fields were shown on the television as already waterlogged, and that was BEFORE people even started to arrive - I bet it's a mud bath today!. If you are going this year take care ... and take your wellies! ENJOY!

And I guess that, by now, we all know that the U.K. has voted to leave the E.U. with a 4% margin .... I hope we've made the right decision. Hubby and I trotted off to register our preferences yesterday .. can't complain about the result if you can't be bothered to vote - apparently 72% of the voters turned out too. Just hoping we've collectively made the RIGHT decision although it's probably going to be down to history to record the wisdom or madness of this decision. All I know is that there appears to be no other news this morning!

I'm trying to figure out whether my present obsession with ATC's is because I'm trying to use up snippets or whether it's simply a way of crafting without making cards which I then have to find a home for! Either way, here are another two which are very similar and use the same materials, yet manage to be not (quite) identical.

How's your weekend? I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday and that the weather will not have spoilt any of your plans. To those of you celebrating with dad's today - have a lovely day.

Me? Well, spent a few minutes at the ToC (Table of Craftiness) ....

Materials used:

• ATC blank
• Snippets of card in Kraft, black and white
• Pink alcohol marker used to colour the white background
• Chapel Road sentiment and Inkadinkado image stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Paper Artsy splatter image stamped using Delicata golden glitz ink
• Fine liner alcohol marker (pink) and Signo uniball white gel pen used to doodle borders on two layers
• Zig clean colour brush marker (violet) used to colour the dress

This is such a cute image and I have two of them, this one (clear stamp) and a larger wood mounted version - no idea why I don't use it more often either - perhaps I will ... NOW!

• White 15cm square, 250gsm, card blank and matching sized envelope
• Two pieces of white card cut to 13½cm square + snippet 12 x 6cm
• Piece of purple card (leftover from a recent purple themed challenge) cut to 13½cm square + snippet cut to 13 x 7cm
• White gesso applied to small snippet
• Crayola Slick Stix applied and blended with a finger .... yellow, orange, red and purple .. which rolled out of the photo - darn it!
• Stencils and a baby wipe used to knock back colour ... TCW (numbers/circles/harlequin and That's Crafty (raindrops) + TCW lines used with cut and dry and Ranger Archival ink, to add interest and "texture"
• Dee Greunings Coneflower image and Stamplorations sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Crafters Companion spray and shine applied - to protect the water based crayons
• Stardust stickles used to highlight the coneflower

I've an ATC to share with you this morning .... When I went to Craftathon in April my shoebox project was ATC's and I had stamped a number of the crazy birds and accessories which, combined with a whole load of snippets, meant everyone could make a crazy bird ATC. I had a couple of "kits" left over and, well ...... I hate waste!

Materials used:

• ATC blank
• Snippets of card in Kraft (cut to ATC size), black (cut a little smaller) and white (cut a little smaller again) for my image panel
• Stampers Anonymous crazy bird stamped on to one white snippet (image panel) and a second for colouring and fussy cutting out, and matching accessories on to a snippet of white card, all stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
• Alcohol markers used to colour image, accessories and image panel background
• Paper Artsy splatter image inked using Delicata silver ink and stamped randomly over the pink alcohol marker background
• Once my image and accessories were cut out and adhered (using a Xyron sticker maker) I used Plaid dimensional gloss in the space left when I cut out the glasses, to simulate glass!

Interestingly enough I subconsciously picked my old school colours of red and grey here - useless trivia fact!!!!

Some humour to set you up for the weekend?

Morning all,

Had a good week? Hope so ... we had a visit from a fellow crafter earlier this week, always great to catch up with friends, isn't it? Sadly, their visit was over all too soon.

We've been decorating this week and have gone from fitted wardrobes to no fitted wardrobes in two days; three trips to the tip to get rid of the wreckage though. The nice lady at the tip is getting to recognise hubby!! Then it was wallpaper stripping! It will all be worth it in the end but, oh, the bit in between!

Unfortunately, for hubby, the weather has turned less "summery" (whatever that means!) so he's not even been able to sneak off for an hour to unwind!!! We both hate decorating and he does the vast majority of it (with me supervising and making tea) so he deserves the odd hour or so "off duty"!

Me? Well, in between the supervising and tea making, I found some time to hit the ToC (Table of Craftiness) and here's what I made ...... no Distress Crayons were harmed in the making of this ATC!

Materials used:

• ATC blank
• Snippets of card in purple, black and white
• Visible Image mini flourish (border edge) stamped around the outer edge of the purple layer using Delicata golden glitz ink and around the outer edge of the white layer using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Visible Image mini flourish (flourish side) stamped around the outer edge of the white layer using Versacolour raspberry ink
• Versacolour raspberry and chateau grey used DTP method all over the white card panel, to give a grungey background
• Stamplorations sentiment and Anita's star stamped (once) using Ranger Archival jet black ink
• Anita's star image inked using Vivid! plum in, stamped off once each time to lighten the impression
• Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen used to highlight the thicker brushstrokes of the sentiment and also the stars - for added twinkle!

• Inkadinkado heart image stamped using Adirondack watermelon ink and then overstamped with versamark, sprinkled with clear embossing powder and then heat set
• Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamped using Ranger Archival jet black ink
