Welcome to Kylie's 12 Days of Christmas

Hello readers,

Provided I've got this time malarkey right ... it should be 08:00 Tuesday in Brisbane, Australia and Kylie's post for the 6th of her 12 Days of Christmas should be going "LIVE" about now too ..... she invited a bunch of her personal and/or blog buddy's to join her in Celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas this year

Without further ado, and here is my make for her challenge ...

My card
And a closer view of the colouring .... albeit subtle as there wasn't really
too much to colour on a panel that size!

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • Cream A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of cream card cut to fit
  • One piece of navy card, cut to mat
  • Snippets of card in white and navy .. I thought about using the cream but decided it would make the snow look muddy!
  • Woodware sentiment stamped (JGCL504) using Memento ink in Paris dusk and tuxedo black
  • Snowman image (Snowman Enterprises "the adventure") stamped using Memento Paris dusk ink
  • Faber Castell used to colour the hat, scarf, tangerine nose and the sky background
  • Snowflake border (The Works snowflake die) cut using white card which I coloured using Memento Paris dusk ink and a stencil brush
  • Stardust stickles to bling up the snow and snowflake border
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-

A "start of the weekend" post and a birthday blog bash

Morning readers

Some of you may know that I'm a floating list manager over at Challenges For Days .... a blog which lists challenges by day, every day. This blog was started in 2013, by Zoe Sanderson, and we have been celebrating it's success all week with some giveaways

Challenges For Day (CFD) came about in 2013 when Zoe thought about putting together a list of challenges out there in blogland, she separated them in to each day ... of course some challenges publish by date rather than always on the same day so there are actually EIGHT lists. The lists are laid out WEEKLY, TWO WEEKLY and MONTHLY and there are links to each challenge blog included - which makes it super easy to access each challenge. It was always intended to be a useful resource to members of the crafting community. Naturally, this was a lot of work for just one person to do .... so Zoe recruited a team to assist, giving each member a list of their own. We currently have a team of nine, including me ..... I'm a floater and cover holiday, sickness etc.

If you would like to join us then I'm sure we'd love to hear from you. Having help on call is always a benefit and Christi (who now runs the CFD blog) has a number of ideas for improvements once we have the extra help. All you need is an hour or so to spare each week, and an active blog of your own - details are on the CFD blog under the tab "Join our happy band" - look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you to all team members past and present, congratulations to the current team on organising and participating in this Birthday Bash, and particularly Donna who's been co-ordinating things.

To celebrate the blog's birthday, each team member has made a birthday card .... and below you can see my own. If you want to be in with a chance of winning today's prize then please leave me a comment (mentioning the CFD Birthday blog celebrations). You can also enter the draw for sponsor prizes offered during our week of celebrations by visiting The Challenges For Days blog here. Only comments made before the week's celebrations finish on Saturday will be eligible for today's prize below. Comments made on the CFD blog may be added any time this week but only one entry per person.

Today's prize on offer at the CFD Birthday Bash - a set of stamps and two sets of stamps & dies
In order to celebrate the CFD birthday I decided to indulge one of my favourite techniques, that of layering stamps to form my design and chose masculine colours for this - I hope you like it

SECOND POST OF THE DAY ... Welcome to THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Hi readers,

Some of you may be following Kylie Purtell's "Twelve Days of Christmas", running from December 4th until the 15th. If you haven't then please do stop by her blog and follow some links to blogs of other participants. Today sees the start of DAY FIVE ... and I am honoured to have been invited to join in today's leg of the hop and, without further ado, here is my make ...

My card
The inside of my card and front of my envelope

The front and back of my card and reverse of my envelope
Materials used:
  • 12cm square white, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 10½cm square
  • One piece of navy card cut to 11½cm square
  • Snippets of card in both white and navy
  • Using a Fiskars finger knife I cut one of the white squares of card using a wavy line and ran through the Big Shot inside two different embossing folders before attaching to my navy card panel, leaving a slight gap
  • Using my Big Shot and MFT dies I cut the Santa, tree and presents and then, with the help of my new MISTI I stamped them using Ranger Archival jet black ink
  • Pro markers to colour (although on the inside and reverse of my card I used Kaisercraft glitter gel pens) and diamond stickles to highlight
  • I stamped the MFT sentiment, cut out and matted on a snippet of navy card before attaching to my card
