Another weekend looming large!

Morning all,

After recently discovering my new home cards all appeared to feature houses ... I thought I should see what I could do - I knew I had a skyline set of silhouette images (by FLONZ) and wondered if I could work something around that ....

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of kraft card cut to mat
  • Snippets of card in both white and Kraft
  • Skyline image and sentiments stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Using a stencil brush (recent purchase from Aldi) I brushed Distress Inks: tumbled glass and salty ocean. Once dry I gave the panel a quick squirt of Crafters Companion Spray and Shine, to protect the water based inks in transit
  • On the Kraft panels I stamped the border image using Versafine onyx black ink, just to add a little interest to the dullness that is a Kraft matting layer!
FLONZ "Urban landscape borders 01", Kaisercraft "Edges" and Imagine That "Write Big #2"
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Crafty Sentiments - March 27th challenge - ANYTHING GOES

Welcome to the half way point in the week ...

It's downhill to the weekend! ...... Morning all,

Had a lovely lunch out with friends yesterday - so nice to catch up properly (at a leisurely pace) over a nice meal - pie of the day (peppered steak) and a coffee ... though the rest managed a dessert all I managed was the coffee!

I recently made a Christmas card for a "Christmas lights" challenge, using the fab mailbox image below (originally designed for envelopes but for C5 or larger) .. this week the challenge was to feature a mail box! Shot myself in the foot, or what!? Nothing for it but to use it again but to try to make it different - I looked through my ENTIRE collection of stamps and (aside from the same mailbox but for a birthday) had nothing else even faintly resembling a mailbox.

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • One piece of white card (for insert) cut to fit
  • One piece of DCWV patterned paper (from their "winter" stack) cut to fit
  • One piece of navy card cut to mat
  • Snippets in white, navy and silver mirri card
  • Narrow white grosgrain ribbon
  • Double sided tape to attach ribbon to base layer and dimensional foam tape to adhere completed image panel to my base card
  • Stamplistic image stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour
  • MFT faux stitched rectangle used to die cut the image panel before matting on the blue then silver layers
  • Stardust stickles to bling up the snow and star and Anita's dimensional gloss to simulate the "glass bulbs"
Stamplistic envelope dress up "Christmas" + Precious Remembrance Shop "Sketchy Christmas"
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Hiding In My Craft Room - challenge No. 345 - ANY HOLIDAY ... yes, I chose Christmas!
  2. Christmas at Sweet Stampin' - March challenge - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  3. The Holly and The Ivy - challenge No. 25 - ANYTHING CHRISTMAS GOES
  4. Through The Craft Room Door - March 27th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Crafty Sentiments - March 27th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
So, this card puts me at 71% of my 2018 quota - YEE HAA! At this rate I'll be able to relax for the second half of the year ... maybe I could write them in July and it will be one less thing to have to do at the end of November ... or is that just seven shades of WRONG?!?!?!

And ... DOES it look sufficiently different from the original? You tell me .. here's the original much more CAS version, coloured using sharpie pens and way more "fussy" with dimensional foam tape, multi layers AND patterned paper!!!

Whoops! Here comes another week!

Morning all,

I hope that the transition to British Summer Time went well for you all yesterday, here in the U.K., it did kind of feel like the middle of the night though .... after settling down around midnight the 08:00 (that was 07:00) alarm felt like only minutes later! That'll teach me! Not like my book was even THAT gripping and yet still I read long after I should have been sleeping!

I ordered some new dies on Thursday and they came pretty fast ..... I was tempted to make a sympathy card as I felt that, with a simple sentiment, it wouldn't need anything else. As it happens, I was wrong and added a couple of tiny gemstones but ... always good to have a couple of these cards in stock so I don't have to make them after the worst happens.

Woo Hoo - Saturday and .. NO SNOW!

Morning readers,

Had a good week? Mine wasn't too bad .. if you set aside the frustration of having to change your e-mail address whether you want to or not!! HOW many sites do you log in to using your e-mail address? I found out it was LOADS!!! I THINK I'm about there now but - grrrrr, our thanks to our e-mail service provider for suddenly deciding that the format we've been using will die - I've had that e-mail address for over 20 years too.

Anyhoo, aside from that, had a lovely catch up with a pal, over coffee, on Wednesday - she's just back from Spain so plenty to chat about. So much so that we followed our coffee up with pots of tea. Sadly, my lunch out with a different pal had to be postponed but .... I'll see you when you are feeling brighter.

A trip to the ToC instead, which resulted in the card below - I realised recently, when a friend moved in to a new flat, that all my new home cards pretty much had HOUSES on them and decided to make one perhaps a little more suited to flat dwellers .....

One of my friends had to cancel our girlies day out due to an issue with her achilles tendon - feel better soon matey - once you've recovered, we'll reschedule.

Anyhoo, all this chillsome weather gave me a perfectly good excuse to stay in and craft - like I needed one of those! Today I have used a similar (but not the same) design as a previous card ...
