Saturday - it's the weekend

Morning readers,

Not too long ago I picked up a wood mounted stamp ... despite vowing not to buy more wood mounted images. Only one thing for it .... unmount it and store it for future use .... this was the image, isn't it adorable?

My Artist Trading Coin
Materials used:
  • Snippets of card in white and DCWV glittered stack
  • Nesting circle dies to cut the 2½" and 2¼" circles
  • Stampendous image (HHV04 "Umbrella nap") stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Coloured pencils (Crayola and Derwent coloursoft) used to colour
  • Wink of Stella clear glitter gel brush pen used to accentuate the fur

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Colour Crazy - challenge No. 17 - ANYTHING (hand coloured) GOES
  2. CraftyCatz - challenge No. 460 - ANYTHING GOES + option of TRAVEL .... my bunny looks like he's on vacation, that's my connection to travel
  3. Crafting With Friends - challenge No. 3 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Cute Card Thursday - challenge No. 580 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Penny's Paper Crafty - challenge No. 428 - ANYTHING GOES

And now for a card which presented me quite an issue .... I was asked to make a "Thinking of You" card that could double as both a sympathy card and also as an uplifting card for another occasion - not too sombre and not too flash then ... easy peasy? WRONG ... This was the third incarnation and I'm still not 100% convinced it works on both levels, although I like the card itself - love to hear your thoughts.

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:

  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to fit
  • One piece of purple card, cut to mat
  • Two snippets of card (2½" and 2¾" square) for my image panel
  • On the white snippet I applied Distress Inks inn dusty concord ad black soot, setting aside to dry
  • Studio 112 image (from 60-30790) stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Clearly Wordsworth sentiment (from VO09 "Everyday Greetings") stamped using Versafine onyx black ink
  • Craft Stamper free circular "stain" image (Nov 2018 issue) stamped using Memento grape jelly ink
  • I added two strips of thin double sided tape (leaving the cover on) before spritzing with Krylon sealant (to protect the water based inks) then removed the protective strip and burnished gold foil over both pieces of tape

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Paperbabe - challenge No. 92 - FLOWERS/GARDEN
  2. Creative Fingers - challenge No. 163 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Just Add Ink - challenge No 455 - JUST ADD SYMPATHY
  4. QKR Stampede - challenge No. 346 - ANYTHING GOES
  5. Southern Girls - May 2nd challenge - ANYTHING GOES

Aww . . . cute litte ATC (I've given up distinguishing between COINS and CARDS as they both begin with "C" and are the same concept, just different shapes, and I'm, err LAZY -just like the little mouse in your ATC)!

I really like the Thinking of You card, but, as you asked, I think I'd personally only use it for a sombre occasion. It doesn't say "jolly" to me! But that's just me! It's still a great card.

Happy Saturday.

Hugs, Sarn xxx

The House Mouse images are so cute and you have made a great ATCoin Kathy and love the colouring, and the card is great with the irises and the circle repeated element in the background, but I think I tend to agree with Sarn that it would be better with a slightly lighter background to the flowers maybe, but it is pretty nevertheless. x

I can see why you wanted that cute little sunbathing bunny, Kathy! It's easy enough to unmount them when you see something you must have. Erm, not bunnies, but wooden stamps. As far as your card ... what a tough assignment! If you sell your designs, you should charge double for this one just for the complexity of the assignment! Well done!! Hugs, Darnell

Kathy: your ATC is so very adorable! Love how the mouse is colored! Thanks for posting a different type of paper-crafting to Penny's. It's refreshing to view! Becca ~DT (and the other project showcased in your post is marvelous! I think it is perfect for either sympathy or friendship/encouragement! Well done!)
