Wednesday = Hump Day!

Morning readers,

A short while ago I found myself stressing about posting four times each week and decided I would only post on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. You know what? The moment I did that, my creativity ramped up and I have not one, not even two but three projects to share with you today! If this continues I'll be heading back to a Friday post too!

I do a monthly ATC swap with a pal and I wanted to do something a little different this month so ..... it's a kind of Joseph's Coat technique going on here! Although, I must confess, I cheated in that I only used the one colour as my base layer so .... not a TRUE Joseph's Coat! I then got out the glue stick foiling technique too ......... I'm quite liking the way it turned out and I'm hoping my friend will have too

My Artist Trading Coin
And a closer view of the fabulous effect foiling has on a project!
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in black, deep red and white
  • Memento tuxedo black ink used to edge the ATC where the white and black layers were glued together
  • On the white snippet I applied Distress Ink in picked raspberry, using a Tim Holtz mini blender
  • I stamped the sentiment (VLV plate #925) and images from the Creative Expressions CEC851 ("Inspired Edges") and StudioLight (SL341) using Versamark ink before sprinkling with clear embossing powder and heat setting.
  • Once this had cooled I applied Distress Ink in fired brick and aged mahogany all over the panel and hickory smoke around the outer edges and set aside to dry
  • Once this was dry I gave it a quick spritz with Crafters Companion Spray and Shine, to protect the water based inks
  • Using the circle stencil from the Dutchdoobadoo 4 stencil design (470.715.129) I applied a glue stick through the stencil, working it in with my fingers, removed the stencil (and washed straight away) and then applied sheet gold foil over the glue stick, again, working with my fingers and then set aside to dry overnight
  • Finally, I doodled a border using the nuvo black glitter marker

I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. Always Fun - challenge No. 122 - USE STENCILS
  2. Sweet Stampin' - SPOTS AND/OR STRIPES (you could argue my chevrons are stripes!)
  3. Crafty Sentiments - August 6th challenge - ANYTHING GOES
  4. Through The Craft Room Door - August 6th challenge - ANYTHING GOES

Joseph's Coat technique a mystery? Check out the video below

And now for a card .... I bought some new stash recently and .... we have new neighbours so .... had to be done!

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope.

Materials used:
  • White A2/C6, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope

  • One piece of turquoise card, cut to mat
  • Aall & Create door image (from #194) stamped  using Versafine Clair morning mist ink
  • Imagine That sentiment (from Write Big #2) stamped using Versafine Clair nocturne ink
  • Inside the card I stamped the "you did it" sentiment (from Ranger Letter It "Celebration") using Versafine nocturne ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour the image
  • Kaisercraft metallic glitter gel pen and Anita's dimensional gloss used to highlight

  4. Lemon Shortbread - challenge No. 99 - ANYTHING GOES

And, finally, another card ... been a while since I've used a sketch and I saw what a pal had made using this sketch and it gave me an idea, thanks Lilian. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out too ... I hope the one focal point, instead of the two shapes on the sketch, won't disqualify my entry

You are certainly buzzing with great ideas Kathy, and love your version of the Jacob's Coat technique on the ATC and fantastic foiling, then the funky new home card and a super way to welcome your new neighbours and with the number over the door too, and lastly the pretty sparkly red heart, a wonderful card following the sketch. x

fantastic creativity - so many great projects. Love the foiling technique, I think I'm going to have to try this out. I'll need to look into Joseph's coat technique too - I think I remember I producing a hideous bin worthy effort a long time ago. Yours is great so I should try again.
