Hello Saturday!

Hi peeps,

How's your weekend coming along? It's a long weekend too - got plans? Living, as we do, in Bristol between the M32/M4/M5 we find it easier NOT to try to leave town over this weekend, however, yesterday it was necessary for the hubby to leave and head to Gloucester. The M32 and M4 was already a car park by lunchtime and the M5 southbound would be a nightmare by the time he wanted to head home - back roads and a takeaway was planned! The reality was that the M5 southbound was eerily quiet so himself stayed on the motorway and it was pasta for dinner!! Not sure I wouldn't have preferred the takeaway but ......

Anyhoo, on to my slightly photo heavy post - it DID leave me free to craft so, before I went out for coffee with a pal I put a mixture of iridescent medium and acrylic paint on to my papier mache box and headed out whilst it dried!

It was nice to catch up with my pal, Jenny over coffee and ginger biskwits and with the added bonus of dry paint upon my return. After lunch it was out with the white card and more paint plus stamping ....

Flowers for the embellishment

The inside of the base

Inside and outside of the base

And the inside of the lid

And the lid itself

Outer edge of the lid

Materials used:
  • Paper Artsy Fresco paint in Pansy + ultramarine (to make it a little darker) and iridescent medium - for the gesso'd box lid - applied with a paint brush
  • Luna Mica paint + iridescent medium for the gesso'd box base - applied with a paint brush
  • White card
  • Iridescent medium plus the same paints applied to the white card - on both sides - but using a baby wipe
  • PSX travel text stamp inked using Ranger Archival in jet black on to the painted card
  • EK Success flower punch used to cute five flowers which were then stapled together and curled to give dimension
  • Faux crystal gemstone set in the centre of the flowers
  • White grosgrain ribbon with purple circles on
  • Double sided tape
  • Glossy Accents
  • Distress Inks: tattered rose, Victorian velvet, dusty concord
  • White card (swiped with D.I.s) and black card - for matting and layering the box base and lid
  • Computer generated sentiment (partially obscured in the photo as the recipients name appears and she doesn't know yet!)
  • Bottle cap and domed epoxy sticker

How's it looking?

Of course, it's now on to my regular Saturday challenges - I've had a bit of a crafting drought this week so - if I get on well, it's entirely possible I may be back with a second post!!!

In the meantime, here's my "first) entry for the Simply Less Is More challenge, their theme this week?  "WASHI TAPE" ....

Materials used:
  • 5" x 7" white, 300 gsm, scallop edged card and matching sized envelope
  • White card and chocolate brown card, for matting and layering
  • Tim Holtz tissue tape (pretty identical to washi tape methinks) - two strips, torn
  • Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink
  • Distress Ink in tea dye applied round the edges of the white card, to soften the stark edge

Have a great (and long) weekend

Your LIM card is super, really nice design and I think the soft shading around the edge looks really good with the darker outline. Amazing box as well, plus those ginger biskwits sound so tempting.

Pretty box Kathy, the flowers look good with stamps on them. I've never used washi tape, something I've so far avoided hankering after! LOL.

No Bank Holiday here in Ireland, we had one earlier in the month.

Loving the look of your fabby box kathy, looks like mr mojo is back with a vengeance !

Great LIM card, smashing way of using the 'washi' in your design. Gonna try and make an entry this week as I have a collection of tape myself.

Who'd have thought the M5 would be that quiet on a BH ? Mind you it's fairly quiet in this neck of the woods too - what's all that about then ?
